00:00More than 700 billion pesos worth of infrastructure projects for Mindanao are being laid at the Infrastructure Summit.
00:08This is the story of Janessa Felix.
00:12The government's priority is to improve and improve the airports, seaports, and land transportation in Mindanao.
00:19This is what was discussed at the first ever Mindanao Infrastructure Summit today.
00:24The administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is working on a total of 185 infrastructure flagship projects across the country.
00:33Almost 70 of the IFPs are under the Department of Transportation and 11 of them are being laid for Mindanao, which has a budget of 748 billion pesos.
00:45The projects include the new Zamboanga Airport, Siargao Airport, Zamboanga Transport Modernization Program, Greenways Project, Air Traffic Navigation, High-Priority Bus System, and many more.
00:59According to Secretary Jaime Bautista, there is no problem with these funds, even with the high-priority bus system of Davao City, from the loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank.
01:10He is also working on the necessary steps to speed up the implementation of the projects.
01:15As far as the budget is concerned, it's not really that problematic.
01:20Although we have requested Congress to allocate a little more funds, but not that much.
01:29As far as the project is concerned, it's a go and we're on track.
01:36Secretary Leo Terezo Magno also said that the government and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. are always supporting the projects of Mindanao and Davao City,
01:46except for the areas where Mindanao is not a priority.
01:50Magno also added that the infrastructure in Mindanao is important because it will connect supply chains, speed up goods and services and economic expansion.
02:00We already have a lot of roads. We're doing a lot of roads.
02:04We still need to improve our seaports, airports, and other modes of transportation.
02:11Secretary Jimmy and Secretary Bautista were talking earlier about the intermodal transport or the need to start the railway.
02:21He also added that the infrastructure projects are of high quality and it's a big help for the socio-economic growth in Mindanao.
02:28It will have a positive effect on trade, investment, productivity, social inclusion, tourism, disaster resilience, and the overall quality of life of the people of Mindanao.
