00:00Palestinian resistance responds to aggressions perpetrated by Israeli occupation forces against
00:16citizens in the occupied West Bank.
00:21The Venezuelan government denounced a new terrorist attack against the national electric
00:25system carried out by the Venezuelan extreme right-wing with the aim of destabilizing the
00:30country.
00:34And Brazilian Federal Supreme Court ordered the extradition of the people under investigation
00:38in the attempted coup and attack on the nation's federal government buildings in January 2023.
00:49Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
00:54We begin with the news.
01:13Palestinian resistance responds to aggressions perpetrated by Israeli occupation forces against
01:17citizens in the occupied West Bank.
01:20On Wednesday, Al-Quds Brigade fighters responded with explosives to the illegal Israeli incursion
01:26into several areas of the West Bank.
01:28Also, Palestinian resistance forces exchanged fire with Israeli forces who stormed the vicinity
01:34of the former Azka camp.
01:36Members of the Al-Quds Brigade denounced that Tel Aviv carries out raids and illegal arrests
01:42against civilians, subjecting them to interrogation and mistreatment.
01:51The Iraqi resistance affirmed that they continue with the operations against the Israeli army
01:56in response to the aggressions and massacres committed against the peoples of Palestine
02:00and Lebanon.
02:01The Iraqi resistance launched a drone with advanced fissures towards a viral Israeli
02:07target in the center of occupied Palestine.
02:10The group also stressed that it will increase the scale of operations against Tel Aviv's
02:14military settlements in the occupied territories.
02:22The Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah confirmed that it carried out an attack against the
02:27city of Haifa in rejection to the aggressions committed by the Israeli army against the
02:32south of the country.
02:34Likewise, the resistance group confirmed an attack against the occupied city of Safed,
02:39which left several wounded.
02:40The resistance also attacked a contingent of Israeli army personnel and vehicles in
02:45the settlement of Khaled Warda.
02:47Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, the resistance maintains
02:51attacks against Haifa, which is a strategic point for the occupation, due to the fact
02:57that it functions as a seaport and is located 90 km from Tel Aviv.
03:08The government of Iran warns that its country will respond harshly to any Israeli aggression
03:13against this territory.
03:15Uranian authorities assure that it is necessary to maintain regional peace and stability in
03:19the context of the Israeli aggression against the Middle East.
03:23In this regard, they blamed Israel and its supporters, especially the United States,
03:27for destabilizing the region and encouraging a large-scale conflict.
03:32They also called on the international community to stop the aggressions and crimes perpetrated
03:36by Israel and to send all the necessary aid to the people affected by Tel Aviv's onslaught.
03:46The head of the United Nations Agency for Palestinian Refugees has called for access
03:51for international media organizations to Gaza to report about the situation on the ground.
03:58None of you has been allowed to go to Gaza, which is a pity, and most of the information
04:03that we are receiving, our information we are either receiving by every local journalist
04:10or by organization operating in Gaza.
04:14But of course, in a situation like this one, when we have so many different type of a narrative,
04:20it is of utmost importance, I believe, that we continue to ask for the presence or the
04:27access of international journalists.
04:32In Lebanon, the ongoing Israeli shellings in the capital Beirut and southern regions
04:36killed several people.
04:38On Tuesday night, the Zionist army attacked the town of Kana, killing at least 15 people,
04:43while 15 others were wounded.
04:45The devastated southern Lebanese town still remembers the 1996 Israeli artillery bombardment,
04:50which killed at least 100 civilians sheltering in a United Nations compound.
04:55In another attack on Wednesday, at least five people were killed, including the major of
05:00the town of Navatieh, after Israeli strikes hit two municipal buildings.
05:05Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said Israel deliberately targeted a meeting of
05:09the municipal council that was discussing the city's services and relief situation.
05:14The United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon says civilian suffering is reaching
05:19an unprecedented level.
05:25At the same time, Lebanese authorities shared some statements after Israeli strikes killed
05:30at least 15 people in the southern town of Kana.
05:35In the early morning hours, specifically from last night, Kana town was targeted.
05:41We evacuated some injured individuals to hospitals in Tyre, all while under fire.
05:47Last night, we had to pull out of the areas due to the danger, after ensuring there were
05:51no more people alive.
05:54We have civilians trapped under the rubble, women and young men.
05:58We are working on it and hope that in the next few hours, we will complete the search
06:02and rescue operation.
06:06Most the families that are under the rubble are civilian families.
06:10They refused to leave this town to other locations.
06:13They were martyred on their land.
06:16They are blessed to be martyred.
06:18This is our destiny and fate.
06:21All the destruction we see today wants to change our identity, but our identity is in
06:25our core.
06:27We will defend our land, honor, and dignity by staying on this land and continue to persevere
06:32here.

06:51Welcome back to From the South.
06:58The Venezuelan government announced a new terrorist attack against the national electric
07:02system carried out by the Venezuelan extreme right wing with the aim of destabilizing the
07:07country.
07:08During a phone call, the Minister of Electric Energy, Jorge Marquez, detailed that the terrorist
07:13aggression was specifically against the transmission system, which is the backbone of the national
07:18electric system.
07:20Marquez also thanked the entire team of workers who are currently assisting the restoration
07:25in an efficient and quick manner.
07:27Likewise, the Minister of Electric Energy emphasized that even though the extremist
07:32groups in the country try to harm the people, the Bolivarian revolution will continue to
07:36fight against any act of destabilization.
07:40This afternoon, I want to denounce once again a terrorist attack to the national electric
07:54system, this time to the transmission system of our country.
07:57These terrorists only think about harming our country while our people work to move
08:01forward.
08:02At this moment, I want to inform you, Carlos, and all the people of Venezuela that we are
08:06recovering all the load and restoring the service throughout the country.
08:13Jorge Marquez also informed that 25% of the country was affected by the new aggressions.
08:22This attack affected approximately 25% of the country, 25% of the country.
08:29It affected us quite strongly.
08:31It could be felt throughout the country, the strong impact, but thanks to God our working
08:38class is now restoring the service and guaranteeing our people the service they deserve.
08:45In Venezuela, the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, proposed the creation
08:50of a new law for the defense of political sovereignty and national self-determination.
08:54During a meeting of the Special Commission for the Analysis of the Electoral Laws, Rodríguez
09:00assured that it is a proposal that arises from the constitutional table to be consulted
09:05by the parties, the communal councils, the cultural groups and the society in general.
09:10The official also announced that next week he will initiate a process of popular consultations
09:16in diverse sectors of the society with all those who wish to express their opinion on
09:22the development of the electoral legislative system in the country.
09:36In the work that has been carried out because it has not only been these plenary meetings,
09:40there have been daily meetings of the three working commissions, there is a proposal that
09:44we want to share with all of you, of the elaboration of a new law, which we even propose to be
09:49titled as follows, Law for the Defense of Political Sovereignty and National Self-Determination,
09:54which would be like a law that develops Article 130 of the Constitution it is a proposal that
09:59arises from the constitutional table, so that it can be consulted, worked on, approached
10:04by the parties, by the communal councils, the cultural groups, by the universities,
10:09the law faculties, etc.
10:14During the ceremony for the delivery of funding for the communal coffee plant 2024, the President
10:20of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, called for the support of projects in the country that
10:24involve Venezuelan young people.
10:26The Venezuelan Head of State emphasized the need to finance projects for the Venezuelan
10:30youth in response to a demand of the Venezuelan young people who want more cultural projects
10:36to be prioritized to satisfy their needs.
10:39Maduro also announced the creation of a youth committee for the communal circuits with the
10:43aim of satisfying these demands.
10:46Furthermore, the President affirmed that it is, if the necessary cultural resources are
10:50allocated to these projects, it is possible to achieve them properly.
10:59In second place, Parallel, supporting specific projects of youth for youth and with youth
11:10created for young people.
11:14Because young people have complained and have said that prioritized projects don't involve
11:22young people and their needs, so we are forming a youth committee for communal circuits to
11:32support them.
11:33That is worth it.
11:36And if we use all of the resources of culture and youth and put them in certain paths, things
11:46are going to work correctly.
11:51You know what I'm talking about.
11:54During the launching of what has been called the historic patriotic petrochemical bloc,
11:59the government of Venezuela urged the defense of energy resources to prevent theft by national
12:05corporations.
12:06During the event, the Venezuelan Executive Vice President, Delsi Rodríguez, stressed
12:11that in the next nine years, the oil and chemical markets will have a growth of up to 72%.
12:18The Vice President emphasized that in spite of the sanctions imposed by the United States
12:22government, there is evidence of economic growth in areas such as agro-industry, agriculture
12:28and cattle raising.
12:29Rodríguez pointed out that the first phase of the new economic recovery program will
12:33be focused on the Venezuelan working class, since it is the hardest hit sector by the
12:39Western sanctions.
12:47I don't have to explain to you what every working man and woman in the country has lived
12:51through with their families.
12:59To take away from Venezuela, each year, 99% of its foreign income meant the suffocation
13:09of the economy and the inducement of an inflation that destroyed the economy.
13:23The Venezuelan Vice President also highlighted the nation's economic growth after the implementation
13:29of the economic recovery plan promoted by President Nicolás Maduro.
13:37We all agree to implement a new economic model in order to diversify the economy and that
13:42is why, in August 2018, President Nicolás Maduro launched the Program for Economic Recovery,
13:49Growth and Prosperity.
13:50Today, five, six years later, we can say that this program is showing a positive balance
13:56in favor of Venezuela.
13:58A good point for Venezuela, thanks to President Nicolás Maduro.
14:28Welcome back to From the South.

16:19A study reveals that massive deforestation has fragmented the Amazonian region, insulating
16:3423% of its forests and weakening its ecosystems, crucial for the planet.
16:39The document points out that some 193 million hectares were affected by deforestation, leaving
16:45them without ecological connectivity.
16:47This reduces the capacity of the Amazonian ecosystems to regulate the vital cycles of
16:52oxygen, fresh water and global climate.
16:55In addition, another 108 million hectares of the planet's largest tropical rainforest
17:01are at risk of becoming isolated as well.

17:40time over the affected territory.
17:43Despite the efforts of almost 2,000 firefighters, authorities confirmed that the fires are still
17:49active in some localities of Santa Cruz, Benín and La Paz.
17:52In the meantime, the government implemented a five-year ban on the use of the affected
17:57lands in order to prevent settlements in these areas.

18:11with a transit of 9,936 vessels this year compared to 14,080 vessels in 2023.
18:20The drop is due to the measures implemented by the Panama Canal authorities at the end
18:24of 2023 to address the lack of water caused by the drought.
18:29The lack of rainfall caused the daily transit of ships to decrease from 38 to 22, although
18:34the situation has normalised in recent months with the arrival of the rainy season in the
18:40country.
18:41In Morocco, the heavy rains that hit the southwestern Sahara during September left
18:54floods and new accumulations of water.
18:57The tower of Tawunite, south of the capital Rabat, recorded an increase of 100 millimetres
19:03of water in the lapse of 24 hours.
19:06In addition, the rainfall refiled the groundwater supplies, favouring the population affected
19:11by the water problems.
19:13Flooding in dunes and oases left more than 20 people dead between Morocco and Algeria
19:19and also caused damage to crops.
19:24Meanwhile, on Wednesday, heavy rains lashed southern India, resulting in meteorological
