00:00In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro rushed the Attorney General's office to investigate
00:05the far-right's destabilizing plans for the presidential elections.
00:12In Iran, Massoud Pashinyan was elected president after defeating Saeed Jalili in Friday's run-off
00:17elections.
00:18In Afghanistan, Israeli occupation forces killed at least 29 civilians in three massacres
00:26during the last 24 hours in Gaza.
00:34Hello and welcome from the south, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Lesus Studios in Havana,
00:39Cuba.
00:40We begin with the news.
00:41Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro rushed the Attorney General's office to investigate
00:45a video released by Colombian parliamentary groups in which they claim that the far-right
00:50contacted them to promote destabilizing plans for the presidential elections.
00:54The national president received news about an accusation made by a Colombian armed group
00:59where they claim that they were contacted by the Venezuelan far-right to carry out a
01:03plan to destabilize the government of President Nicolás Maduro on the day of the presidential
01:07elections.
01:08The video details that the Venezuelan far-right was seeking to attack the border areas with
01:12the support of parliamentary groups after attacking the country's electricity system.
01:18They send it to me from Colombia.
01:26He says they denounce, this is a parliamentary group there, Colombia is looking for peace
01:33now with President Petro, with armed groups of the left, with armed groups of the right.
01:47This is a group of the right paramilitary, and they denounce that they were contacted
01:53by people of the Venezuelan ultra-right to send some thousand men to generate violence
02:06in the border states, attack the electrical service, and when they shout fraud on July
02:1228th, enter to generate the sensation of a civil war inside Venezuela.
02:17In this context, President Maduro warned that Venezuela is in a struggle for its right to
02:25peace while stating that he would not allow anyone to affect the country.
02:34And here is a video that will surely be known, where it's going to be pendant, so that
02:40is acknowledged in the news, and our people know that we are in a battle for right to
02:45peace, for the right to peace, the right to peace, and nobody is going to spoil Venezuela,
02:53I assure you.
03:00The Venezuelan president made the accusations after the Colombian parliamentary group known
03:04as Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra disclosed that the Venezuelan far-right seeks
03:09to destabilize Venezuelan society.
03:12Members of the parliamentary group said that among the requests made by the far-right was
03:16to target the power grid in order to create discomfort to the Venezuelan people.
03:21They also said members of the far-right asked them to infiltrate the streets, generating
03:25chaos in case President Maduro were to be re-elected next July 28th.
03:30The parliamentary group expressed its willingness to cooperate and contact Venezuelan diplomats
03:34to provide them with further details about the far-right's destabilization plans.
03:41Fourth of July, 2024, the Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra allow us to inform the national
03:51and international public opinion that UNESCO and the Department of La Guajira have been
03:57contacted by extreme right groups in Venezuela to destabilize the government of the Republic
04:02of Venezuela.
04:04The interlocutors have made all kinds of requests, among them to attack the Venezuelan electrical
04:09infrastructure, act against the candidate president Nicolás Maduro, act in case he
04:15is re-elected, infiltrating protests and generating in the streets in front of this chaos.
04:21We allow ourselves to state that our organization does not get involved in the internal affairs
04:27of other countries, that our organization is due and has a purpose to maintain order
04:32in the Sierra Nevada, that we will contact the diplomatic authorities of Venezuela to
04:37disclose details of the information disclosed attentively by Major State Autodefensas Conquistadoras
04:43de la Sierra.
04:47The Autodefensas Conquistadoras de la Sierra Nevada is a Colombian parliamentary structure
04:52that maintains territorial control in Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the Department of Magdalena
04:56and other nearby areas.
04:58In a historical context, the criminal diaspora is a result of the demobilization of the United
05:02Self-Defense Forces of Colombia.
05:05This group runs drug trafficking and extortion networks in tourist areas.
05:09The ACSN operates autonomously in their logistical activities and in some cases have established
05:14alliances with criminal organizations to guarantee control over areas of route and transport
05:19of illicit substances to countries such as the United States and Europe.
05:22Recently, there have been cases of capture and participation of ACSN members, demonstrating
05:28their continued involvement in illegal economies.
05:30However, in recent times, the organization has shown a willingness to negotiate with
05:35the Colombian government, declaring a unilateral ceasefire in the hope of installing dialogues.
05:46Let's now take a short break, but remember you can join us on Tiktok at Telesur English,
05:49where you will find news in different formats, news updates and much more.
05:54For the stories, coming up, stay with us.
06:09Welcome back.
06:10In Venezuela, there is an abundance of measurements on who would govern the country until 2031.
06:15However, of course, seeking to generate a matrix of opinion that influences the decisions.
06:22Millions of Venezuelans will elect their next president in the near future, and steady voting
06:27intentions are multiplying ahead of the July 28 elections.
06:35In these surveys, it is doubtful.
06:37It is really not.
06:41And the mistrust has its origin.
06:42At least one inquiry has been published every week since the election day was announced.
06:47But several of them, according to analysts, show a non-existent reality.
06:52They give the victory to the candidate of the ultra-right, however.
06:57Articles confirm that several of the polls disseminated in social networks turn out to
07:01be false, inaccurate and misleading.
07:07What we are seeing is the search to manage a climate in which the opposition has more
07:11opportunities than it really has.
07:13There is the issue of polls.
07:15There is the issue of the management of bots in social networks.
07:18We see how there are publications that exceed in the number of likes to the people who have
07:22access to social networks.
07:24And at the same time there is a decrease in the coverage and presence of what the government
07:28has been doing in the framework of the election campaign.
07:36Few media outlets replicate the fact that Nicolás Maduro, president and candidate for
07:40the governing party, is the favorite.
07:46Surpassing a voting intention of 60%, the other 9 presidential candidates are 30 points
07:52behind.
07:53There is a group of pollsters who are saying that there is no repulsible scenario in the
07:58country other than that a certain candidate wins, a candidate to end the opposition.
08:02And this, of course, is very risky because if it does not happen, it may tend to create
08:10more nervousness, more neurosis in society.
08:17The truth is that the ideal is that all political actors are ready to recognize these results,
08:27that it is simply a function of going to an electoral contest, not to generate parallel
08:30agendas or hidden agendas that lead to violence.
08:35According to the indicators, the panorama shows that the triumph of a chavismo is an
08:39undeniable possibility.
08:46Whether the opposition is going to jump front or not, I wouldn't know.
08:56But I would think that there are some segments of the Taoist opposition that would not be
08:59able to recognize a triumph of the Maduro government.
09:05And there is a not minor fact, one of the recognized platforms in the world of politics
09:10and the market predicts that Nicolás Maduro is emerging as the winner with more than 70%
09:15of the votes.
09:16In Iran, Massoud Pesashkhan is the new president after defeating Saeed Malili in a run-off
09:26election in the Persian nation.
09:27The Ministry of the Interior confirmed that Pesashkhan obtained 53.66% of the votes.
09:33Malili, his rival in the second round, won 44.34% of the votes.
09:38In an election where 49.8% of the population voted, the supporters of the winner who obtained
09:4316.3 million votes have taken to the streets of the country to celebrate the victory.
09:51Let's review the profile of Massoud Pesashkhan, born in 1954.
10:01He has a Ph.D. in Medicine and General Surgery from Tabriz University.
10:06He was appointed Health Minister from 2001 to 2005, during former President Khatami's
10:12term from 2016 to 2020.
10:15He served as first Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
10:17He has previously won for the elections in 2013 and 2021.
10:22In 2013, he resigned in favor of Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi, Rafsanjani, while in 2021,
10:30the Guardian Council didn't pass him as a candidate.
10:42And France prepares for next Sunday's elections to decide how the National Assembly will be
10:46formed.
10:47In this context, the advance of the far-right has made more than 200 candidates withdraw
10:51their mandate to create a Republican quorum to stop Marine Le Pen at the polls.
10:55More details with our special envoy in Paris.
10:57France prepares for the second round of the most important legislative elections in decades.
11:04Young people fight street by street to stop a far-right majority in France.
11:08We are now distributing flyers in the streets because we believe that it is very important
11:13that everybody goes to vote, because we don't want the National Rally to become Prime Minister
11:17nor to have a majority in the Assembly.
11:20That's why we believe that we have to go to vote and mobilize the people to go to the
11:24voting day.
11:25That's why we are here in the street giving out the flyers in the center of Paris, but
11:28also in the different constituencies.
11:31Fabio is a young Parisian artist of immigrant origin.
11:34He follows the rise of the far-right in France with great concern.
11:37But what is clear to him is that Emmanuel Macron's mandates have come to an end.
11:42Of course, for me, his presidency is over.
11:46His party obtained a minority.
11:48It is true that there is no absolute majority, but to obtain two minorities does not give
11:53him a choice because he would be behind the extreme right and the left forces.
11:59That's why he is blocked because he has no choice but to collaborate with the left.
12:05More than 200 candidates have withdrawn their candidacy to stop a far-right majority that
12:09the new popular front is trying to stop at the ballot box within a historical agreement
12:12of the French left.
12:17Emmanuel Macron wanted to take the left for a ride, but they managed to reach a historic
12:22agreement in 24 hours.
12:24Many thought that there was a lot of difference, hatred, resentment, but in a context like
12:29this, there was only one possibility.
12:32That all the progressive forces and all the forces that call themselves leftists agreed
12:37on a common program and dared to lead it so that the extreme right could not come to power
12:41and that a progressive government could finally succeed in France.
12:47The Place de la République is once again the anti-fascist symbol in France, symbol
12:51of the republican agreement against the advance of the ultraconservatives at the ballot box.
12:59A republican cordon of parties both left and center-right to prevent Marine Le Pen's
13:03ultra-right from gaining power is the response of the political parties in France for the
13:06second round of the legislative elections next Sunday.
13:12Sergio Rodrigo and Javier Díaz-Muriana, Del Sur, Paris.
13:16Ecuador's former Vice President Jorge Glas's attorney, Sonia Vera, denounced that prison
13:21authorities are preventing her from communicating with her clients.
13:25Ms. Sonia Vera, who is an international lawyer, has denounced that since June 21st that Roca
13:30prison warden Ms. Martha Macias, as well as authorities from the National Service to Inmates,
13:35are preventing her from meeting with her client, therefore hindering Mr. Glas's right to a
13:40defense.
13:42Ms. Vera has called the attention of the international community to what she considers the kidnap
13:45of Mr. Glas after three months of arbitrary detention.
13:49Jorge Glas was arrested and sent to La Roca prison early April following a raid of the
13:54Mexican embassy in Quito by Ecuadorian police.
13:58Mr. Glas had sought refuge at the Mexican embassy where he had been granted political
14:01asylum.
14:09A Buenos Aires court in Argentina has recognized the victims who appealed to the principle
14:14of universal justice and filed a complaint against former Colombian President Álvaro
14:18Uribe.
14:19The court ruling followed a lawsuit filed by 11 victims on November 7, 2023 before federal
14:25judges to investigate the former Colombian president for cases of extrajudicial executions.
14:30The victims claimed that they had to resort to Argentinian courts and no mechanisms were
14:34found in Colombia to carry out the investigation.
14:36The principle of universal jurisdiction allows victims to go to justice institutions in other
14:41countries to investigate those allegedly responsible for a crime.

15:07Don't go away.
15:35Welcome back.
15:39Israeli Occupation forces killed at least 29 Palestinians in three massacres during
15:43the last 24 hours in the Gaza Strip.
15:45The health ministry reported that the Sanits attacked more than 100 people.
15:49However, it is warned that many victims remain under the rubble amongst the Israeli bombardments,
15:53according to the possibility that those figures could be even higher.
15:58According to the latest reports, 38,098 Palestinians have been killed and over 87,705 have been
16:04wounded since October 2023.
16:10In this context, the Palestinian Health Ministry called on the international community to stop
16:14Israel's war campaign in the occupied territories.
16:17Authorities also called on humanitarian organizations to exert pressure on the Tel Aviv regime to
16:21stop its attacks on medical centers, rescue groups, and ambulances in the Gaza Strip.
16:26Only 15 out of 36 hospitals are currently operating in the Gaza Strip amid severe shortages
16:32of staff and supplies.
16:40In Palestine, authorities denounced a water crisis in the occupied West Bank due to Israeli
16:45cuts to water supplies.
16:46The Palestinian Water Authority pointed out that water consumption is rising in the midst
16:51of rising summer temperatures, while denouncing that the amount of water available for Palestinians
16:56in the West Bank amounts to 105 million cubic meters, 13 million less than what was agreed
17:02upon in the 1995 Oslo Accords.
17:05The Colonization and War Resistance Commission denounced that Israeli authorities control
17:0988 percent of water sources in the West Bank and allow settlers to have free and unimpeded
17:15access to the vital liquid.
17:23Russian President Vladimir Putin received Friday the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor
17:27Orbán.
17:28The main issue of both leaders' agendas was finding a solution to the conflict with
17:31Ukraine.
17:32During a joint press conference following the closed-door meeting, the Hungarian Prime
17:36Minister admitted that Moscow's and Kiev's positions remain very far apart, citing his
17:41recent trip to Kiev to meet the Ukrainian leadership.
17:44However, he recognized that starting the contacts was the most important step and promised he
17:49would continue to work on that direction.
17:52On the other hand, the Russian President reiterated Moscow's readiness to resolve the conflict
17:56through negotiations, while warned that the Ukrainian leadership seemed to be still incapable
18:01of abandoning its idea of waging a war until the end.
18:10Russia favors a full and final end to the conflict.
18:19The conditions for that, as I said, are set out in my speech at the Foreign Ministry.
18:29We are talking about the total withdrawal of all Ukrainian troops from the Donetsk and
18:34Lugansk People's Republics, from the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions.
18:42And Ukraine's sponsors continue to try to use the country and its people as a battering
18:46ram, sacrificed in the confrontation with Russia.
18:55As we see the state of affairs, taking into account what we heard today from Mr. Prime
18:59Minister, Kiev is still not ready to abandon the idea of waging a war to a victorious end.
19:14I have found that positions are far apart.
19:19The number of steps needed to end the war and bring about peace are many and high.
19:29But in terms of dialogue and restoring dialogue, the first important step has been taken today
19:33and I will continue this work.
19:37In Ireland, the government has revoked a uranium exploration permit granted to Canadian company
19:41Govex Uranium.
19:43Mining company Exudif denounced the permit withdrawal for the Maduwela area does not
19:49comply with the provisions of the current mining code, and they warned that the decision
19:52will have a negative impact for the local economy.
19:55Company Exudif recalled that since the start of operations in Niger in 2007, they have
19:59completed an unprecedented drilling campaign of 650,000 meters for Nigerians themselves.
20:06The project meant the creation of up to 800 jobs over the foreseeable 20-year lifespan
20:11of the mine, with significant royalties and taxes accruing to the states.
