00:06We miss you sometimes because I know you are very busy right now.

00:09And we would like to ask for an update from you at DSWD.

00:14You are kind of in the headlines right now.

00:17Yusek Edu, maybe you have something to clarify about the news right now.

00:24That's right. Partners, good to be back and to see you again.

00:28Yes, that's right. We would like to clarify something from DSWD.

00:32There are a lot of discussions and allegations that DSWD is politicizing our assistance.

00:42And we strongly deny this.

00:46We are saying that it is not true that DSWD is politicizing or using politicians in our programs.

00:55There is no directive from Malacanang or even Secretary Rex Gatchalian in our programs

01:02to be selected as a part of our assistance or various programs to our poor countrymen.

01:12As Secretary Rex Gatchalian said, there is no need for a referral, partner,

01:18for our countrymen who need help to approach DSWD

01:23because our doors are open to everyone who needs help.

01:28We have walk-ins.

01:30Anytime, any day, our countrymen who need help can go to DSWD to ask for assistance.

01:39Those who need medical assistance, those who need hospitalization,

01:44our countrymen who died, those who were hit by the typhoon,

01:48those who have no food to eat, those who need massages to go home,

01:51all of those, DSWD is open.

01:53Just go to our offices and we will help you.

01:56We don't need referrals from politicians or other government agencies to help us

02:04because this is our mandate and the work of our social workers and developmental workers.

02:11Now, to clarify the news that we are not rejecting referrals from other agencies

02:19like the Office of the Vice President, as Secretary Rex Gatchalian said,

02:25this is not true and it was documented in our budget hearings in the Senate

02:32that there is proper coordination and that all of their referrals are being executed.

02:39We also have news or we saw it trending on social media

02:45about Representative or Congressman Olaso here in Zamboanga

02:50that their payout was suspended in ACAP.

02:54It is not true that it was suspended.

02:57We want to clarify again that DSWD is not a politician.

03:03It is natural that our social workers assess the referrals of beneficiaries

03:14and they undergo a case study or management.

03:20We have a walk-in, you can come in.

03:26There are also referrals but we have guidelines in our programs, partner, like AICS.

03:32There are requirements.

03:34Before giving cash, the requirements of AICS are very strict

03:39because it is monitored by the Commission on Audit.

03:42Because money is given there, not food packs.

03:45That is why it is very strict for us in DSWD.

03:48The guidelines of AICS and ACAP must be followed.

03:52That is why when someone refers to us,

03:54we need to validate and interview our social workers one by one

03:58so that we can know their needs and provide the proper intervention.

04:04This is also a way for us to make sure that the help we provide to DSWD

04:11is only what is needed and the fake or bogus beneficiaries are not affected.

04:18DSWD is a big experience partner for such experiences

04:22of fake and bogus lists.

04:25We experienced that during the pandemic.

04:27There were a lot of criticisms in DSWD

04:30because the special amelioration programs were only given to the relatives of the barangay captains

04:36and supporters of the mayors.

04:38That is what we are avoiding in this administration of President Bongbong Marcos.

04:43For us, the help should only go to the right person who needs it.

04:49For our countrymen, it is really hard.

04:51The list of barangay captains or mayors or congressmen that are given to us

04:57should not be given even if it is not deserving or not needed.

05:03That is our policy here in DSWD.

05:06Our appeal to our countrymen is not to believe right away

05:12because we know that an election is coming.

05:17There are candidates who are doing a lot of scenes and preparations.

05:21We are the ones who will be judged

05:23because sometimes the government agencies are using their campaign.

05:27It is really hard because it is the election season.

05:31That is why, thank you very much for your clarification.

05:41But imagine if it goes to those who are not in need,

05:44you will be able to remove those who are really in need.
