00:00Let's get an update on the government's response to the victims of the Enteng typhoon.
00:07We will talk to Director Irene Dumlao, the spokesperson of the Social Welfare and Development Department.
00:16Good evening, Director Dumlao. This is Maan Makapagal of PTV Ulat Bayan.
00:23Yes, good evening, Maan.
00:25Director, let's get an update on the government's response to the Enteng typhoon.
00:30How widespread is the situation in the affected provinces and if they have been sent for help?
00:39Well, according to our latest drawmix report,
00:44we monitored more than 42,000 families or more than 164,000 individuals in NCR, Region 3, Calabarzon, Region 5, Region 7 and Region 8 affected by the Enteng typhoon.
01:03At the moment, we monitored more than 2,400 families who are temporarily taking shelter in evacuation centers.
01:16These evacuation centers can be found in Metro Manila and in Bulacan. We also have monitored open evacuation centers in Cavite, Laguna, Quezon and Rizal.
01:27We also have them in Albay, Camarines North, Camarines South, Anduanes, Batis and Sugon, Cebu City, and Eastern and Northern Samar.
01:36At the moment, the coordination of the DSWD is ongoing with other local government units.
01:42Thanks to that, we were able to meet their requests for augmentation support because we know that the DSWD provides additional food packs
01:53to local government units as part of our amended to augment, I mean as part of our disaster response operations.
02:03At the moment, the standby funds and family food packs and non-food items prepositioned in various places in our country are worth more than 2.6 billion pesos.
02:18And that is ready to be distributed to local governments, again as part of our augmentation support.
02:26Director Dumlao, if the food and non-food items are sufficient, how can we ensure that they have sufficient water,
02:35hygienic facilities, medicines and medical attention that will be provided to our evacuation centers?
02:45Yes. In fact, earlier, the response cluster of the NCC and the DSWD, the vice chair of the response cluster, helped us.
02:55With the help that was discussed earlier from the different member agencies, the preparation,
03:02we are already monitoring the evacuation centers that are included in the studies.
03:11The participation of the Department of Health is also included in the preparation for the necessary medicines.
03:20And of course, the other agencies like the DISO and the DILG.
03:25We also agreed here in the DSWD as lead also in camp coordination and camp management and in the protection of the internally displaced persons,
03:36that the needs of our countrymen who are inside evacuation centers can be delivered in partnership of course with the local government units and other government agencies.
03:49Here in Calacang, Manila or in NCR, Asec, Dumlao, how is our distribution?
03:55Did we also receive assistance from our passengers who were stranded?
04:03Here in the National Capital Region, we are receiving ongoing requests from the local government units.
04:10We understand that in the first to second days of a disaster, local government units are the ones who are delivering assistance because they are the front line in service delivery.
04:21The DSWD comes in again to provide augmentation support.
04:25Now here in Calabarzon and in areas in Bicol, we are also delivering in coordination with the local government units, hot deals for passengers who were stranded here in our different ports because sea travel is suspended.
04:45Thank you very much for your time.
04:48DSWD spokesperson Asec Irene Dumlao. Take care.
