00:00The Department of Budget and Management is requesting a fund from the Department of Tourism for the year 2025.

00:07DOT Secretary Cristina Frasco said in a Senate hearing that the agency is asking for P8 billion.

00:14But the DBM only invested P6.4 billion.

00:18She hopes that the fund will be used for the tourism infrastructure for the next year.

00:23Senator Loren Legarda greeted the Community-Based Tourism Program projects

00:28and skills training for tourism in Cagawaran.

00:31Here, the senator mentioned the tourist spots of neighboring countries

00:36such as Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar.

00:39She said that some tourist spots in these countries are just simple, but they are not visited by tourists.

00:45So, the senator said that this will serve as a challenge to us.

00:49For now, the Tourism Department is focused on strengthening community-based tourism.

00:55It shows that you don't need to study.

00:58You don't need a big infrastructure.

01:01You don't need a market that is flourishing.

01:07Then you go to a little place which is an old house with a weaving center,

01:13with a museum of a good collection, and simple food and eat by the Mekong.

01:19It's impossible that you can't eat Dabao.

01:21It's impossible that you can't eat Cebu.

01:24It's impossible that you can't eat Antique.

01:26It's very simple, but there are busloads of tourists.

01:30First would be our Tourism Industry Skills Program,

01:35which rolls out training modules per region that are based on industry skills.

01:43It allows the community to be ready to receive tourists

01:46and to have top quality offerings for tourism services.
