चुनाव आयोग ने उत्तर प्रदेश की 9 विधानसभा सीटों पर उपचुनाव की घोषणा कर दी है। इस पर डिप्टी सीएम ब्रजेश पाठक ने प्रतिक्रिया दी है। उन्होंने कहा, "सभी 9 सीटों पर भारतीय जनता पार्टी जीत हासिल करेगी। 2017 से अब तक उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने बहुत शानदार काम किया है। हरियाणा में तरह-तरह के दुष्प्रचार किए गए, लोग सफल नहीं हुए। मिल्कीपुर सीट पर न्यायालय में कोई वाद चल रहा है। इसलिए यहां उपचुनाव का ऐलान नहीं हुआ है। यह निर्णय चुनाव आयोग का है और संवैधानिक संस्थाओं पर प्रश्नचिह्न लगाना अच्छी बात नहीं है। महाराष्ट्र और झारखंड में भी बीजेपी प्रचंड बहुमत के साथ जीत हासिल करेगी।"
