AI to fuel anti-smoking campaign

The government's anti-smoking drive is set to pick up pace with Artificial Intelligence (AI) powering up to get more to kick the habit, said Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.   Under the Cik Era ChatBot programme, smokers and vapers can access a 24-hour chatbot service before they are referred to trained smoking cessation service providers. 00:00I continue to mention how in this effort, JOMKUID 40.0 connects from all the efforts that we have done

00:23throughout this day, especially starting in 2016.

00:28From the perspective of KKM, we have a total of 784 clinics all over the country.

00:40We have a total of 784 clinics that carry out JOMKUID programs,

00:50especially in NRT, Nucleic Acid Replacement Therapy, and behavioral modification efforts.

01:01Our strategic partners, especially NCSM and others,

01:12have a total of 1,000 clinics that carry out JOMKUID cessation programs.

01:24First of all, I would like to thank our strategic partners,

01:31such as the Prince Court Medical Center, ICMC, NCSM, and especially the Director of JOMKUID, Mr. Haji Omar.

01:46This is only a part of the efforts that we have made to revive the JOMKUID program.

01:59I hope that this time, with the approach of the chatbot, meeting with Mr. Era,

02:08it will be an incentive for those who want to stop smoking.

02:18I really want to believe that this time around, we will be able to achieve a lot more.

02:25Why? Because we are approaching it from all the various innovative and creative ways

02:32to get you to those smokers who are ready to come forward,

02:41to be together in this therapeutic effort.

02:49We hope that with this new and innovative approach,

02:54they will know that they can be online or face-to-face in terms of physical,

03:05to come to our 784 clinics and 1,000 more clinics from the private sector,

03:13as well as clinics and hospitals.

03:20I forgot to mention that the community pharmacists are also involved in this effort,

03:27including partners such as Pemadam.

03:34I forgot to mention that at the university itself, we have 16 NRT clinics,

03:42and we will also expand all of this with greater involvement.

03:48So I emphasize, while I have issued a smoking control order for Public Health 2024,

03:58that may be considered as a bit of a challenge to the operators and owners,

04:06they want us to reduce or postpone,

04:10but I need to mention that we have strengthened this effort,

04:15and this act, and this regulation and government,

04:18starting from 1 October, and we will continue with our efforts.

04:22So we want to be, we want to show a more civil approach,

04:28more relaxed, more compassionate, more empathetic,

04:33with what is called a cessation of smoking, or programs to stop smoking.
