Stricter regulations for vape and electronic cigarettes may be implemented in August, says Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.

The Health Minister said that despite the multiple delays, the ministry is doing its best to get Regulations and Orders to be endorsed by the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC).

00:08In a reply to a user on X, the Health Minister said that despite the multiple delays,
00:14the Ministry is doing its best to get regulations and orders to be endorsed by the Attorney General's Chambers.
00:21He added that the regulations are to be simultaneously enforced
00:25with the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024 Act 852.
00:31According to Zulkifli, three regulations are already endorsed,
00:35while two more regulations and an order are pending approval.
00:39Early last month, the Minister said that electronic cigarettes will be strictly regulated in June
00:44under the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024.
00:50The act was gazetted in February,
00:53but checks by the Star on the AGC federal legislation site show that it is not yet in force.
01:00The use of electronic cigarettes is currently regulated under the Food Act
01:04and the Control of Tobacco Product regulations.
