Michael Jackson, Hendrix, Oasis items on sale at Propstore music auction
From Michael Jackson's jackets to Noel Gallagher's guitars, music memorabilia will head to auction next month in a sale estimated to raise around 2 million pounds ($2.61 million).
Entertainment memorabilia auctioneer Propstore is offering more than 350 music items used by or that once belonged to megastars at its Nov. 15 sale, as part of a four-day event that will also also sell film and television props and costumes.
Highlights from the music lots include a Jimi Hendrix master tape featuring four unreleased demo recordings in a box on which the musician wrote their titles. Framed "Beat It" lyrics handwritten by Jackson will also go under the hammer, as will some of his jackets. A black and gold military style one has a price estimate of 200,000 - 400,000 pounds, while his red tour rehearsal "Thriller" jacket comes complete with multiple famous signatures.
"It has been not only signed by Michael, but on the inside, on the back lining, it's signed by John Landis, who... directed the ‘Thriller’ video, and his wife, Deborah Landis, who designed the jacket for Michael to wear," Propstore's music specialist Mark Hochman told Reuters.
"(At the) end of the day, it's a ‘Thriller’ jacket that Michael’s worn."

00:00It's special because it has been not only signed by Michael but on the inside on the
00:16back lining it's signed by John Landis who of course directed the thriller video and
00:21his wife Debra Landis who designed the jacket for Michael to wear it's it's a super piece
00:28and it's it's end of the day it's a thriller jacket that Michael's worn. It was made bizarrely
00:41after he failed to buy Adam and the Ants military jacket that he was so famous for so Michael
00:48loved it so much he wanted Bush and Tompkins to make him one and of course this was made
00:53to Michael's exact spec and it looks spectacular. It contains four unreleased demo tracks recordings
01:07on a master tape of Jimi Hendrix and from Jimi Hendrix and the Jimi Hendrix experience
01:14and this the box that this tape comes in Jimi has handwritten the titles on there you've
01:20got to remember these tracks have not been heard since 1968 so absolutely incredible
01:28and they're going to create a storm of interest.
01:42The guitars form part of the biggest Noel Gallagher guitar collection to come to auction
01:49and included is a JT-60 Hohner which is one of the first guitars Noel ever played as Oasis
01:55which was around about 1992 so we're really pleased to be bringing that to market and
02:01of course we've also got Noel's Silver Sparkle Gibson which customized it was the first guitar
02:09Noel specific had built to his exact specification and Noel is on record as saying it's not just
02:16the best guitar it's the best guitar ever. I think we couldn't have asked for a better
02:20opportunity with the Oasis guitars do come up for auction they're primarily Noel's guitars
02:28and they're hugely sought after by collectors the reunion has taken that interest to a different
02:35level we're expecting a very very busy auction and it's not just fans and collectors we're
02:42now seeing more of a corporate vibe in terms of people will buy a Michael Jackson jacket
02:49because they want it in their boardroom. People will buy a Jimi Hendrix tape that no one else
02:58has heard before because they want to be the people to say yeah we're the only ones who've
03:03got this. Investment houses pension funds will buy memorabilia because they see long
03:10term that they're good investments.
