00:18in the formal opening of the Asian Junior and Girls Chess Championships 2024

00:25This will be held on Saturday at Knights Templar Hotel in Tagaytay City.

00:30Up to 60 chess players will compete in the so-called Federated Tournament

00:36that was made possible by the assistance of the Asian Chess Federation

00:40and the local government under the leadership of the Philippine Olympic Committee President Abraham Bambol-Tolentino.

00:47Our Philippine chess players will not be left behind

00:51who will compete in the Standard, Rapid and Blitz event

00:54led by the country's newest Grandmaster, Daniel Quizon.

00:59Quizon is just returning from the Philippines

01:02where he won the GM title in the 45th FIDE Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary.

01:07First of all, I thank God because my dream of becoming a Grandmaster has come true.

01:13I am very happy that I have fulfilled it.

01:16When I started, I said, I want to be a Grandmaster.

01:20I want to be like Laue.

01:22I want to be like the other GMs in the Philippines.

01:25Quizon also has a message to the youth who are eager to become a professional chess player.

01:32My message to them is to work hard in training.

01:36Don't stop.

01:38Consistent training.

01:40Study openings.

01:42Puzzles.

01:44Chess games are very important.

01:47After the opening ceremony, the Rapid Chess Tournament was held last Saturday.

01:53FIDE Master Christian Gian Carlo Arca finished in 11th place.

01:59International Master Michael Concio Jr. finished in 10th place.

02:03GM Quizon finished in 11th place.

02:07The Asian Juniors and Girls Chess Championship 2024 will continue until Saturday

02:13where we will find out who will be the champion of the Standard and Blitz event.
