00:11The Department of Migrant Workers continues to put the condition of Overseas Filipino Workers, or OFWs,
00:18in Lebanon amid the ongoing crisis in the region.
00:22According to the DMW, Secretary Hans Leo Kattak,
00:25more than 221 OFWs will return to the country between October 21 and October 28.
00:3320 OFWs are expected to arrive in the country this week.
00:36350 OFWs are also being processed to return to the country,
00:41of which 178 OFWs continue to three shelters in Beirut.
00:47There are doctors, nurses, and social workers in the shelters who meet the needs of OFWs.
00:53The DMW continues to call on OFWs to avail voluntary repatriation.
00:59They have their own personnel.
01:02Why would they want to stay?
01:04Maybe they have a law sense employer, or maybe they don't have a family,
01:08or they don't have an employer.
01:10So, of course, we can't force them.
01:14They have an income.
01:17The DMW also promised financial assistance to OFWs returning to the country.
01:23The return is P150,000 combined with the DMW-OFW.
01:29That's around P4,000 to P6,000 a year because they are domestic workers.
01:3511,000 OFWs are estimated to be in Lebanon,
01:38of which most are in Beirut.
01:41They are working as domestic workers.
01:44At the moment, the situation in Lebanon is in Alert Level 3,
01:47where voluntary repatriation is being carried out by the government.
