00:00The National Economic and Development Authority is confident that the inflation rate will be lower in the coming months.
00:07This is what Kenes Paciente has to say.
00:12Following the alleged slowdown of the inflation rate in the country this September at 1.9%,
00:18the National Economic and Development Authority is confident that the inflation rate will be lower in the coming months.
00:25According to NEDA Undersecretary Rosemary Edilion,
00:27the government is working hard to reduce the 2% to 4% inflation rate.
00:33And she has seen the fruits of this after the alleged inflation rate this September.
00:38So if you add up from January to September, the year-to-date inflation of the country is at 3.4%
00:44even though she is now focusing on food security, which is a big contributor to the movement of inflation.
00:55There is an Interagency Committee on Inflation and Market Outlook.
00:58So we have a sub-committee on food and a sub-committee on non-food.
01:02So what this is doing is really looking at the trends here in the country and outside the country
01:09so that we can anticipate.
01:11Because what we really need here is to anticipate the developments
01:15so that we can do something.
01:17Because of this slowdown, NEDA insisted that the purchasing power of the Filipinos will be stronger,
01:24especially now that the holiday season is approaching.
01:26They can really be confident about the prices of consumer goods.
01:33So we can see that the demand can really increase.
01:37The demand will really increase because of Christmas.
01:41But in addition, because of the higher confidence, the demand is even higher.
01:48Meanwhile, the recovery of the tourism industry is the main reason for NEDA to lower the unemployment rate in the country
01:54which is now at 4%.
01:56However, they are still not able to overcome the challenges in the labor force
02:00including underemployment and job mismatch.
02:03That's why they launched the Work for the Country Plan,
02:06a 10-year roadmap that will be a guide for a more active and strong employment generation in the country.
02:13It is proven that NEDA is now visiting various parts of the country to conduct consultations on this.
02:18Our objective here is for our labor market to be very dynamic,
02:24to be very agile.
02:26Because what we can see is that although our unemployment rate is decreasing,
02:30we can still see that underemployment is still high.
02:33And the quality of employment is one of the things that needs to be fixed.
02:38NEDA is also working to strengthen the labor force in the country
02:41by strengthening the access of workers on the internet
02:44through the implementation of the Connected Filipino Bill
02:47for the upscaling and re-tooling of Filipino workers with the help of the internet.
