00:00The National Economic and Development Authority of NEDA is confident that the inflation rate will decrease in the coming months
00:07after the slowdown in the movement of the price of water in the country in September, according to Ken and Paciente.
00:16Following the slowdown in the inflation rate in the country in September, which was at 1.9%,
00:22the National Economic and Development Authority is confident that it will decrease in the coming months,
00:28according to NEDA Undersecretary Rosemarie Edilion,
00:31the government is working hard to reduce the 2% to 4% inflation rate.
00:37And she has seen the fruits of this after the slowdown in the inflation rate this September.
00:42So if you add up from January to September, the year-to-date inflation of the country is at 3.4%,
00:48as she is now focusing on food security, which is a big contributor to the movement of inflation.
00:55Actually, last year, the President of the Interagency Committee on Inflation and Market Outlook created it.
01:02So we have a subcommittee on food, there is also a subcommittee on non-food.
01:06So what this does is it really looks at the trends here in the country and also outside the country
01:13to anticipate, because what is really needed here is to anticipate the developments so that we can still do something.
01:21Because of this slowdown, NEDA has narrowed the purchasing power of Filipinos,
01:27especially now that the holiday season is approaching.
01:30They can really be confident about the prices of consumer goods.
01:37So we can see that the demand can really increase.
01:41The demand will really increase because of Christmas.
01:45But in addition, because of the higher confidence, the demand will increase.
01:51Meanwhile, the recovery of the tourism industry is what NEDA sees as the reason for lowering the unemployment rate in the country,
01:57which is now at 4%.
01:59Even now, they are still not able to overcome their challenges in the labor force,
02:03including underemployment and job mismatch.
02:06That is why they launched the Work for the Country Plan,
02:09a 10-year roadmap that will be a guide for the more active and strong employment generation in the country.
02:15It is proven that NEDA is now visiting various parts of the country to conduct consultations on this issue.
02:22Our objective here is for our labor market to be very dynamic, to be very agile.
02:29Because what we see is that although our unemployment rate is decreasing,
02:33we can still see that underemployment is still high.
02:36And the quality of employment is one of the things that needs to be fixed.
02:41Another thing that NEDA is pushing for to strengthen the labor force in the country
02:45is to strengthen the access of workers on the internet
02:48through the support of the Connected Filipino Bill
02:51for the upscaling and retooling of Filipino workers with the help of the internet.
