00:30The President said this in front of the ASEAN leaders and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang
00:35at the 27th ASEAN-China Summit in Vientiane, Laos.
00:40Despite the dialogues between the Philippines and China,
00:45China's continued aggression in the West Philippine Sea is saddening.
00:50Like the bombing of water, bombing of our ships, laser-pointing of our airplanes,
00:57and threats to the troops of the Philippines,
00:59which are just conducting maritime patrols and resupply missions in the West Philippine Sea.
01:05President Marcos Jr. criticized this in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea
01:10and the 1972 Convention on the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea.
01:17The geographical scope, relation of the Code of Conduct and the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea
01:26and the non-compliance of the definition of self-restraint or self-defense are being discussed.
01:31At the 27th ASEAN-Japan Summit, President Marcos encouraged the leaders of the country
01:38to maintain security and cooperation at sea,
01:41such as territorial integrity and the cessation of the use of nuclear weapons.
01:48President Marcos believes that the rise of transnational problems,
01:56including the actions in the South and East China Sea,
02:00is due to the security and stability of ASEAN.
02:03President Marcos asked the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau,
02:07to continue to support and endorse the Group of Seven or G7 position of the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea.
02:16The G7 are the countries with the largest economy of Canada, Japan, the United States, France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
02:28He also thanked Canada for its support of the Philippines in the rule of law.
02:34According to an international media, President Marcos called on ASEAN members
02:41not to be involved in aggressive, forced, and illegal actions against an ASEAN member
02:49during the ASEAN retreat session.
