00:32Hello and welcome from the south, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from the Ressource Studios in
00:36Havana, Cuba.
00:37We begin with the news.
00:38The
00:56Lebanese resistance launched one of its largest attacks against the north of the Israeli occupation
01:01in recent days.
01:02At the same time, it will attack residential areas in Beirut for the 26th time in one day.
01:08Local media reported that the Dahiyeh neighborhood in the south of Beirut was bombed over ten
01:13times in the last hours.
01:15Occupation forces claimed to have eliminated a key Hezbollah official.
01:18However, in his speech, Deputy Secretary General Naim Kassem did not confirm the information.
01:24Hezbollah sounded the alarm throughout Galilee and it is estimated that more than 85 shells
01:31were fired against Israelis.
01:33Philippo Grandi highlighted Syria's gesture of solidarity with displaced Lebanese.
01:38The United Nations experts thanked the government of President Bashar al-Assad for this great
01:43cooperation and the gesture of allowing everyone to enter Syrian territory without any kind
01:48of discrimination.
01:49The UNHCR chief highlighted the extraordinary work of the employees and volunteers of the
01:54Syrian Red Crescent and the other organizations in the country that have carried out continuous
01:5924-hour workdays.
02:02Meanwhile, in Yemen, demonstrations and acts of solidarity with the Palestinian people
02:09took place on the one-year anniversary of the Israeli regime's genocide against the
02:12civilian population in the Gaza Strip.
02:15Large crowds demonstrated in support of the Palestinian cause, condemning the ongoing
02:19crimes committed by the Israeli occupation and emphasizing Arab and Islamic solidarity
02:23with the Palestinian people.
02:25Meanwhile, in Jordan, hundreds of members of the National Forum in Support of Resistance
02:29organized a protest a few meters away from the Israeli embassy headquarters in the capital
02:34Amman, under the slogan, Seize to the Zionist Embassy.
02:38In this sense, several Arab cities joined the protest demonstrating their support for
02:42the Palestinian struggle against the criminal actions of the Israeli occupation.
02:51October 7 is the anniversary of the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood, a battle that proved that
02:56the Palestinian resistance and resistance fighters in Gaza can end the criminal fascist-Zionist
03:01occupation that has besieged Gaza for more than 16 years.
03:09The day of the Al-Aqsa Flood, October 7, was a memorable day and a day that will go down
03:14in history as the day when Israel was weaker than a spider's web.
03:18Israel showed a weakness in the technological power it used to brag about to the Arabs.
03:25The United Nations warned of a food crisis if Israel strikes destroying thousands of
03:29hectares of farmland in the south of the country.
03:31The UN authority also warned about the risk of disease outbreaks such as acute diarrhea,
03:35hepatitis A, among others, which can be prevented by vaccination.
03:40The UN denounced that the Lebanese health system is collapsed due to the fact that only
03:43four hospitals are partially functioning since doctors have been displaced by the attacks
03:48of the occupation forces.
03:54Pope Francis called shameful the international community's inability to put an end to the
03:59war in the Middle East.
04:01The Pope also said that violence breeds more violence and the years of conflict seem to
04:05have taught the world nothing.
04:07The Supreme Pontiff questioned Israel's military campaign against children and women, labeled
04:12in international courts as genocide.
04:15In early September, Pope Francis urged the international community to do everything in
04:19its power to stop the fighting.
04:28And in Costa Rica, citizens held a vigil in solidarity with the people of Palestine one
04:32year after the onset of Israel's genocidal war in Gaza.
04:35The event took place outside of the Legislative Assembly, while a protocol meeting was taking
04:41place with the presence of Israeli diplomats and other politicians in favor of Zionism.
04:46During the day, participants demanded the international community to impose a ceasefire
04:50in Palestine to stop the arms trade to Israel and to withdraw Israeli troops from the illegally
04:56occupied Palestinian territories.
04:58Organizers of the vigil denounced the crimes committed by Israel and demanded a dignified
05:03position on the part of Costa Rica in the international arena.

05:33Welcome back.
05:34Haiti condemned the deportations of its citizens from the Dominican Republic, whose government
05:39announced last week that it would repatriate up to 10,000 undocumented migrants per week.
05:44At least six truckloads of Haitians were reported at the Migrant Reception Center in Haïna,
05:49some 20 kilometers from Santo Domingo, before being transferred to the border for deportation
05:54after being detained in massive operations over the weekend in various parts of the country.
05:59The Haitian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dominique Dupuy, called the scenes brutal on her account
06:04on social media, and further assured that this migration policy of the Dominican government
06:09contravenes international human rights standards, as well as the imperative of respect for human
06:15dignity.
06:16Let's look at some facts about Haiti.
06:21The country has been facing alarming levels of attacks by criminal groups, a growing humanitarian
06:25crisis, and an internal and external exodus for years, amid the government's inability
06:30to restore stability.
06:32As a result of the violence, more than 160,000 Haitians have been internally displaced in
06:37Port-au-Prince, alone, struggling to get by in a country where many government institutions
06:43have ceased to function.
06:44Despite criticism of forced returns to Haiti and calls to stop deportations in the face
06:49of the crisis and insecurity in that country, last year, 216,000 Haitians were deported
06:55from neighboring states.
07:01The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, assured that house-to-house questionnaires
07:05will be carried out to analyze the living conditions of the elderly in the country.
07:12A very quick summary.
07:17All the elderly and people with disabilities wait for an official of the nation who will
07:21come to your home and will conduct a very comprehensive questionnaire about your health
07:25situation.
07:29This questionnaire was prepared for months with the Secretary of Health, David Kirshenobich,
07:34and our team.
07:40Once we have these questionnaires, we will know the health condition of each of the elderly
07:44men or women.
07:47The Mexican president also announced a meeting between the Mexican foreign minister and the
07:52ambassador of the United States.
07:55The foreign minister will meet with the U.S. ambassador to address some follow-up issues
08:01that were being carried out.
08:05And in Mexico, the executive legal advisor, Nestina Godoy, announced the dates for the
08:09elections of judges, magistrates, and ministers during the presidential morning conference
08:14on Monday.
08:15Godoy pointed out that with the reforms to the laws of electoral procedures and of means
08:19of information, they seek to give legality, impartiality, and transparency to the election
08:24process of more than 1,000 members of the judiciary.
08:28She also explained that the election will be held in two stages, one on June 1, 2025,
08:34where federal judges and magistrates and state judges seats in the electoral court, members
08:38of the Court of Judicial Discipline, and ministers of the Supreme Court will be elected, and
08:43in 2027, the rest of the judges will be voted for.
08:46At the end of this month, the executive, legislative, and judicial branches must appoint their evaluation
08:52committees to define the candidates that will compete for different positions, and as of
08:56February 2025, the list of nominees will be approved.
09:07I want to mention the most relevant dates for this extraordinary election, in the modifications
09:15that the president is sending.
09:18But the regulation of what is the election of 2025 is in the transitory articles.
09:26On October 16, the Senate will issue the general call.
09:32On the 31st, the evaluation committees will be installed.
09:38On November 4, the call will be published for the citizenship of those committees.
09:45On November 24, the registration of applicants.
09:49On December 15, the committees will verify the requirements of legibility.
09:56On January 31, 2025, the committees will conduct interviews and the finalists will
10:02be selected.
10:04On February 4, the powers will determine the conformity of finalists and will return to
10:11the committees.
10:16In Argentina, students took over the University of Buenos Aires on Tuesday to protest against
10:21President Javier Mele's veto of the education funding law.
10:24The students of the Faculties of Psychology, Philosophy, and Literature resolved to continue
10:29with their pressure measures for 48 hours and to participate in a demonstration planned
10:33for this Wednesday in front of Congress.
10:36For this part, the teachers' union rejected the 6.8% salary increase approved by the executive,
10:41considering that it is not enough to cover their needs in the face of rising inflation.
10:46University students also condemned the closure of the National Mental Health Hospital Laura
10:50Bonaparte, where 612 people would lose their jobs and thousands of patients would be left
10:55without care.

11:20Welcome back.
11:35On Monday, the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, reaffirmed he will keep up the battle
11:39against the infiltrated, those who disregard laws and all forms of corruption, with no
11:44hesitations of any kind.
11:46The head of state described those abusing of their privileges and disregarding laws
11:50as corrupt and degenerate.
11:52Maduro then assured that they are the second great enemy of the country's life.
11:57In addition, the president highlighted not only the permanent conspiracy against the
12:00Bolivar nation, but also the damage caused by those taking advantage of the process,
12:04disguised as revolutionaries but actually harming the people.
12:14He is corrupt, a crooked person.
12:17He is someone who has taken advantage of the power given to him by the revolution or the
12:21people, to benefit himself personally, to destroy, to betray the people.
12:26That is why I launched this week with such force, because I am not abandoning this battle.
12:31You can be sure Maria Antonieta, you can be sure, that I am committed to the fight against
12:36those insiders, against corruption in all its forms, whatever it may look like, wherever
12:41it may be.
12:43And Brazil held municipal elections in more than 5,500 municipalities.
12:48According to data published by the Superior Electoral Court, the Social Democratic Party
12:51and the Brazilian Democratic Movement were in the lead.
12:54Ignacio Lemus with more details.
12:58A slim lead left the current neoliberal mayor, Ricardo Nunes, and the leader of the homeless
13:04movement, Guilherme Boulos, in the second round of the elections for the mayor of Sao
13:09Paulo.
13:10The first has the support of former President Jair Bolsonaro, while the second is backed
13:15by President Lula da Silva.
13:17I am very confident in the decision of the people of Sao Paulo.
13:22I am very confident that the people of Sao Paulo will opt for change and that change,
13:27which today was a majority at the polls, is represented in the second round by Marta and
13:32me.
13:33Today we have the largest progressive front in the history of the city of Sao Paulo.
13:37Of those who have the conviction, the glint in their eye that Sao Paulo deserves more.
13:43The result left Pablo Marcol out of the second round.
13:47Bolsonaro's second letter generated cracks in the extreme right with his candidacy to
13:52govern Brazil's largest city.
13:54During the campaign, he was hit with a chair in a television debate while attacking his
13:59opponents.
14:00Marcol will have to explain to the Brazilian justice system the propagation of lies to
14:05harm the left candidate, Guilherme Boulos.
14:09What happened in the debates was a cycle of violence, making politics a tool for entertainment
14:15that is disconnected from the proposals and the problems that we all suffer.
14:20So what we feel is missing in the debates are adults in the room, people debating how
14:24we solve the problems we have today in Sao Paulo.
14:28I feel a great regret in recognizing that social networks are placing influencers and
14:33people disconnected from the political problems as leaders.
14:39Sao Paulo is considered a thermometer for politics in the rest of the country.
14:46Sao Paulo is the economic center of the country, the largest city in the country.
14:51Everything revolves around Sao Paulo, so the impact of the choice of the city of Sao Paulo
14:55and the state of Sao Paulo is very great within the country.
14:59In South America and in the world, Sao Paulo is a city that is evaluated all over the world
15:04to know how Brazil is doing.
15:07Economically I am talking about, not as a landscape, but as a beauty.
15:11Economically, the city of Sao Paulo is a reference.
15:15The elections position the Democratic Socialist Party as the party with the largest number
15:21of mayoralties.
15:23The center-right organization, whose action oscillates between government and opposition,
15:28has greater negotiating weight and will be a contending ground for the 2026 presidential elections.
15:33Behind the 888 mayoralties won by the Democratic Socialist Party, the Brazilian Democratic Movement,
15:40party of the former de facto President Michel Temer and Progressistas,
15:45both with similar ideological spectrum and fields of action to the Democratic Socialist Party,
15:51appear with expressive votes.
15:52Meanwhile, the Workers' Party achieved a slight improvement in the number of municipalities
15:57it will command, while the extreme right, with Bolsonaro at its head, reaffirms itself
16:03as a force with a strong support base.
16:06Next October 27th, 15 capitals will host the ballotage.
16:12In Mali, the army thwarted a new terrorist attack.
16:14The aggression was planned against Timbuktu airport.
16:17The armed forces announced that an extremist group tried to attack the airport and previously
16:22a security post in the city of Baird.
16:24The armed forces' actions seized a large number of weapons, drugs, and neutralized several of the extremists.
16:30The military junta assures that for months, terrorists with the support of the West have
16:34been trying to destabilize the process of decolonization and independence that they
16:38are carrying out together with the Malian people.
16:47And in Sweden, scientist British-Canadian Geoffrey Hinton and US John Hofield won the
16:52Nobel Prize in Physics for pioneering work in the development of machine learning.
16:56One of the laureates held a phone conversation about their current achievements on a press briefing.
17:22It's going to be wonderful in many respects.
17:24In areas like healthcare, it's going to give us much better healthcare.
17:28In almost all industries, it's going to make them more efficient.
17:32People are going to be able to do the same amount of work with an AI assistant in much less time.
17:38It'll mean huge improvements in productivity, but we also have to worry about a number of
17:45possible bad consequences, particularly the threat of these things getting out of control.
18:08On Tuesday, a grand ceremony was held for the retirement of outstanding Spanish football
18:13player Andres Iniesta after 24 years of a brilliant career.
18:17The 40-year-old player will be on a coaching course soon, as he is planning to train young
18:22generations.
18:23In early 2010s, Iniesta earned a World Cup, two European Championships, four UEFA Champions
18:28League titles and nine LaLiga trophies.
18:30In addition, the footballer was among the nominees for the 2010 World Cup Golden Boot
18:36Award and Ballon d'Or.
18:38In all, the midfield player had reached 32 trophies as a Blaugrana during his 22 years
18:45at the Barcelona club.
18:46Today, Iniesta shared with his fans some statements to express his feelings at this retirement
18:51event.
18:52That's why today I feel very proud of the journey, along with all the people who have
19:03accompanied me.
19:05I'm very happy I achieved the prize, the dream.
19:17The ultimate goal of becoming a professional soccer player, because I wanted it more than
19:21anything.
19:36Hurricane Milton continues to move over the waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
19:39The hurricane center, Milton, was centered about 165 km northeast of Progreso, Mexico
19:45and about 880 km southwest of Tampa, with maximum sustained winds of 250 km per hour.
19:51Hurricane and storm surge warnings have been issued for Yucatan and the west coast of Florida,
19:57with significant impacts expected due to the system, which is moving east at 19 km per
20:01hour.
20:02Residents in coastal Florida are advised to prepare for life-threatening conditions, including
20:07high winds and storm surges that could lead to flooding.
