Shropshire Athlete Heading for the Malaga Aquabike Championships
Transcript
00:00I'm Emma Lewis. In my day job I'm a primary school teacher, but out of hours I train to be an aqua biker and I've recently qualified to be in Great Britain age group team.
00:13Aqua biker, you have to swim and then you have to bike, but you stop before you do any running, which I prefer.
00:19So it's the World Triathlon Series and actually the elites are going to be there as well, which is really exciting.
00:26So I represent my age group and I'll do a 1,500 metre swim and then a 40 kilometre bike.
00:32I just started to do some triathlons really and then was getting quite injured running and found that there was events that you could enter that were just swim and bike, so that was perfect for me.
00:43The recent one I did was in Wales in Bala Lake, but I've been up to Nottingham and done Outlaw Nottingham up there as well, so you have to travel quite far sometimes.
00:52Well there's thousands taking part, but in my age group it's about 20, so that's quite daunting actually.
00:58I'd rather there was more. My first big event is in Malaga, yes, so we'll just try and have fun, that's the aim.
