Transcript
00:00hello sir how are you yeah very well thank you I had a good day today so yeah
00:04the beautiful Attingham Park has set scene for a race what what's what have
00:09we had going on then well what's the distance first right well the distance
00:12it was approximately six miles yeah never hundred percent accurate with the
00:16cross-country yeah but the event was the Birmingham cross-country league yeah
00:22Birmingham district and it and it's it goes all the way up to Telford it goes
00:27over to Northampton down to Warwick and it's a big area yeah yeah I could tell
00:34from the clubs that have been involved actually some of them have traveled some
00:37distance that explains that yes yeah and then what about conditions today is it
00:41kind of did it fall out just enough that it made it pleasant yes I think so I
00:44think everyone managed to cope with the with the conditions it was pretty firm
00:51yeah still rather frozen yeah yeah they got round and is it an annual fixture
00:58here at Attingham then well I'm I think to my knowledge it's probably the first
01:02time we've held a race here yeah I may be wrong this is the division 3 so there
01:08are three divisions in Birmingham League this is division 3 and you usually get
01:15about 200 or so runners in in each race yeah from a number of clubs probably
01:20about 15-16 clubs and this is just the men's league that the women is a
01:25different league and they run in different venues sometimes they run at
01:30the same place as the men yeah today it's just the men but it's been a good
01:35event by standards yeah it's been an excellent event yeah yeah excellent venue
01:40wonderful place to run all the facilities are here are excellent and
01:47the course is marvellous as well everybody's enjoyed it so great stuff
01:51well thank you sir and I hope to see you here at Attingham again then I hope so
01:54yes yeah yeah how you doing gents introduce yourselves really good thank
01:59you I'm Phil I'm James and have you done today you're kind of coming at the time
02:04you wanted was it just about finishing today yeah really good I think the
02:08pacing was really good you never know what to expect when you wake up and it's
02:10frosty yeah morning if it's gonna be frozen off it's gonna be soft last year
02:14it was a really boggy but really enjoyable really nice conditions and
02:18everything's defrosted so really enjoyable day yeah it's great my first
02:22time here my first time running cross-country at Attingham with the
02:25Harriers and it was great yeah it's really lovely atmosphere and really
02:29lovely conditions out there so you're normally on the road then it's
02:32cross-country it's a bit of a new thing for you it is yeah I've been roped in by
02:34by the Harriers yeah to help out and I support from from the back you know yeah
02:39yeah he's getting around me I've got a good time for myself so yeah I was
02:42really happy and great support from the team as always and are you generally
02:45cross-country or been about more of a triathlete so it's great training over
02:49over the winter and it's more the social side doing it staying fit over the
02:53winter but yeah it's enjoyable come here every year and it's one of the favorite
02:57venues to do cross-country at awesome well well done guys and thanks for
03:01joining us. What's your name? I'm David Brewist from Sphinx AC. Coventry Running Club and
03:06you won it yeah it was a great race we were all a bit
03:11nervous going out just because of the terrain yeah looking after our ankles
03:15what because of the slippiness just because it was pretty rough underfoot so
03:19harder going than average and yeah so we all played it cautiously on the first
03:26lap and then by the third lap we were all starting to feel it I managed to put
03:30a bit of a dig in thinned us out a bit and then we all pushed each other
03:34neck-and-neck right to the finish yeah so me and one of the Telfer boys had a
03:38really tight sprint and I just managed to edge him in the last kilometre and are you
03:43kind of top of your form at the minute did you come here today thinking that
03:46you know what I might did you think there might be a chance you could get it
03:49do you know I felt a bit cautious just because marathon training has started
03:53and we're all I'm feeling a little bit tired but by the time we got out here
03:57today I felt really good and yeah everything just played into my hands in
04:00the end yeah so you're a Coventry lad are you familiar with Shropshire? No this
04:05is I saw that this was over in Shropshire and came up just kind of
04:10looked up searched up and yeah I saw it's a wonderful National Trust
04:14property brought the family to enjoy the house as well and and yeah it's just
04:20absolutely glorious over here yeah Shropshire is gorgeous we're just on the
04:23doorsteps of Shrewsbury beautiful town so yeah hopefully you'll you'll be back
04:27then to bask in your glory and relive some memories so what's the next match
04:33for you then next next race one more race and we're actually hosting the last
04:36race the Coventry clubs are hosting over at Coombe Avenue in Coventry okay yeah
04:40yeah another nice venue yeah nice venue and other sheep fields so pretty rough
04:45underfoot in places but we'll be pushing for another win hopefully so the
04:48pressure will be on you we need to pull out the goods again well well done today
04:52sir and all the best for the next one thank you so much Godspeed
