This afternoon will be a bright and sunny day for most of the UK, with the odd patch of cloud in eastern England and Scotland. However, Northern Ireland is the exception with cloud and and spells of heavy rain expected here. In the evening the rain moves its way west into southwestern England and Wales, but most of the country will remain dry.

00:00Good afternoon, well there's plenty of autumnal sunshine out there for most of
00:04us but it will be turning cloudier as we go through Sunday. So we've had higher
00:08pressure situated towards the east of the UK but low pressure out towards the
00:13west and we really hold on to this area of low pressure as we start the new
00:17working week bringing a case of sunny spells and also some scattered showers.
00:23But back to this afternoon and across England and Wales a fine afternoon to
00:27come with plenty of autumnal sunshine but a different story further towards
00:32the west. Across Northern Ireland cloudier conditions here with outbreaks
00:36of rain especially across Western parts. We may see some sunshine just coming in
00:41towards the far southeast. Across Scotland a largely dry picture especially
00:45across central Scotland and towards the east but outbreaks of rain across the
00:50Western Isles and across the Northern Isles as well. Otherwise it should be
00:55feeling quite pleasant in the sunshine. We've got highs of 17 possibly even 18
00:59degrees and we may reach 16 or 17 degrees across parts of Scotland as well
01:04feeling more unpleasant underneath the cloud and rain further towards the west.
01:09But as we go through this evening our focus is towards the southwest of the UK
01:14where we've got heavy spells of rain pushing its way north and eastwards with
01:17some strong and gusty winds. As that does move its way north and eastwards though
01:22it will generally weaken and ease just to bring more patchy outbreaks of rain
01:27and drizzle. Towards the north we may see some clear skies and where you see the
01:32clear skies we may even get a glimpse of the northern lights if you're lucky
01:36tonight. But we have got a bit of a breeze out there coming up from the
01:40south so temperatures are just generally going to be holding up at around 10 or
01:4411 degrees so a milder start to the day as we start Sunday. But there's still a
01:51lot of cloud around with outbreaks of rain the best of the sunshine is going
01:55to be across at the parts of East Anglia but it will soon be replaced with a
01:59cloud and outbreaks of rain and drizzle so quite a murky afternoon to come for
02:04much of the UK. Further towards the west we also have a band of heavy possibly
02:10thundery rain affecting Northern Ireland parts of Wales and also towards the
02:15southeast. But temperatures are still going to be staying up at around 17 or
02:2018 degrees so similar to the values we'll see today but maybe just a bit of
02:25a different feel given the cloud and outbreaks of rain. So as we go through
02:30Sunday evening we may see some late evening sunshine across the far
02:33southwest but cloud and rain will continue to push its way further towards
02:37the north coming into parts of Scotland and then later into northern parts of
02:42England. Further towards the west we hold on to some clearer skies but also some
02:48showers and that sets the scene as we go through Monday and Tuesday with sunny
02:52spells and scattered showers. But for all of the latest details make sure to hit
