00:00Let me tell you a story, one that is a soup made with the 26 letters, with the right amount
00:14of consonants and vowels, as per taste, and of course, requirement.
00:20So we begin the same way we always do.
00:24Once upon a time, amongst other old women, there was one who was very, very cheerful.
00:31And although she had very little to make her happy, she knew that life is a journey that
00:36one makes either with a smile or a frown on their face.
00:41She chose the former.
00:43Hello, Priscilla, my dear.
00:48How is the morning treating you?
00:50Why, I am all over the place trying to manage the house.
00:55Now, now, dear, don't get so worked up.
00:59Tell me if I can help you.
01:01Aren't you the best?
01:05Yes, the happy old woman earned a living by running errands for her neighbors.
01:11In return, she'd get a meal or a bowl of soup, or sometimes a penny or two.
01:17Life was good, and the old woman never saw or found a reason to complain.
01:24But you might ask, what is so interesting about her life or the story, right?
01:29Well, here's where it gets interesting, very, very interesting.
01:34Ah, winter is coming.
01:37I need to gather woods for me self to keep myself warm.
01:45That day, the old woman set out into the woods with a bounce in her step and a sweet
01:50tune in her mouth.
01:57Suddenly she came upon a ditch, and inside it she saw a big brown pot lying.
02:03Goodie, goodie, me goodness me, now who could have left it in the ditch?
02:09Where is the owner of this?
02:13The old woman waited, looked about around her, expecting the owner to show up, but no
02:18one did.
02:19Maybe it has been cast away.
02:22Well, one man's trash is another one's treasure.
02:27This pot would do fine to put a flower in from my window.
02:33Goodie, goodie, me goodness me, if it isn't full of gold pieces.
02:40Look, I feel rich, awful rich, I feel rich, awful rich, rich, rich, rich, awful rich.
02:52The old woman tried to lift the pot, but it was too heavy for her.
03:02After much thinking, she saw no better way than to drag it behind her like a go-kart.
03:32The neighbors will never know.
03:34I will drop them each a piece of gold secretly so that they are happy too.
03:39I'll buy a grand house and just sit by the fire with a cup of tea and do no work at all
03:47like a queen.
03:48Oh, how lovely it will be to sit by the fire on a chair and have my tea.
03:54I have always wanted a chair for myself.
03:57Goodie, goodie, me goodness me, I am rich.
04:03By this time, she was a bit tired of dragging such a heavy weight and stopped to rest for
04:08a while, turned to look at her treasure.
04:12And lo, it wasn't a pot of gold at all.
04:15It was nothing but a lump of silver.
04:19What?
04:21Oh, how silly of me.
04:24All this while, I was thinking that it was a pot of gold.
04:27I must have been dreaming, but this is luck too.
04:31Silver is far less trouble, easier to keep, and doesn't attract attention.
04:37Maybe my house wouldn't be as grand, but I can still sit on my chair by the fireplace
04:42and have my tea.
04:45So she went off again planning what she would do and feeling as rich as before until becoming
04:50a bit tired again.
04:52She stopped to rest and gave a look around to see if her treasure was safe.
04:57And she saw nothing but a great lump of iron.
05:00What?
05:01Oh, how silly of me.
05:05All this while, I was thinking that it was silver.
05:08I must have been dreaming, but this is luck too.
05:14I can sell the iron and get money in return.
05:19Then I wouldn't need to hide anything and be about my business.
05:22Sure, I will not be able to buy a new house, but I can still build a little fireplace for
05:29me and buy a chair.
05:32Ah, to sit by the fireplace and have my tea.
05:38What a life.
05:41And so off she went again, dreaming about what she would do with her money until becoming
05:46a bit tired again.
05:49This time, it was not a lump of iron, but a big stone.
05:52Gritty, gritty, me goodness, me.
05:57I am in luck, the luckiest I would say.
06:01All the gold and silver and money would have given me a headache, but this, this is just
06:07perfect.
06:08I have been wanting a stone to stick open my gate.
06:12This solves everything, what luck.
06:17And so, all in a hurry to see how the stone would keep the gate open, she trotted off
06:21down the hill until she came to her own cottage.
06:24And as she turned to unfasten her shawl from the stone, she saw to her surprise that the
06:30stone had become bigger.
06:33Oh, goodness me.
06:35This is just perfect.
06:36I can sit on this and have my tea.
06:39I don't need a chair.
06:42This will do just fine.
06:45Ah, finally, I have something to sit on and have my tea.
06:50And before she could bend down to touch it, the stone turned into a big lump of cotton.
06:57And then from it came out four white legs and two ears and a face.
07:02A face that looked like that of a beast with canine teeth protruding over the lips.
07:08Its eyes were red and its eyebrows arched.
07:12It was the Cotton Beast.
07:16Grrty, grrty, my goodness me.
07:21Aren't you adorable?
07:24I have always wanted a pet.
07:27Huh?
07:28What?
07:29Come on in, little guy.
07:33What kind of a person are you?
07:35I have tried to lure you with gold, then with silver.
07:39Then I changed into a lump of iron, and then a stone.
07:44And you were just as happy each time.
07:47And now, when I show you my dreaded self, you call me adorable?
07:52Well, of course.
07:55You are adorable.
07:57I can't stay here any longer.
07:59Bye.
08:03And saying so, the Cotton Monster turned into a butterfly and flew away.
08:09The old woman looked at it and then simply shrugging her shoulders, went back inside her house.
08:15And when she entered her house, to her surprise, she saw the lump of stone lying on her floor.
08:22What?
08:23And then as she watched in wonder, the stone turned into a beautiful wooden chair.
08:30My, this is just perfect.
08:33I better make myself some tea.
08:37Goodness me, the lump of iron.
08:40I will sell it first thing tomorrow.
08:49Goodie, goodie.
08:50My goodness me.
08:53Oh, how happy the old woman was.
08:56In her happiness, she twirled around, and to her surprise, saw the pot of gold.
09:06The pot of gold?
09:07The silver pot?
09:08The iron lump?
09:10The chair?
09:11Oh, goodie, goodie.
09:12My goodness me.
09:14The old woman was ecstatic as she always was.
09:18And as you can tell, she did not become greedy.
09:22She shared her treasure with her neighbors secretly.
09:29And all were happy, especially the old woman, who taught us that it's not about being content.
09:36It's about learning how to turn disappointments into opportunities to see things from another perspective.
09:43And you will never, ever be sad.
09:52The End
