Jordan Lockett speaks to The Standard about why he's running for the Moyne Shire Council.
Transcript
00:00G'day, I'm Jordan Lockett. I'm seeking a third term on council at Moorinshire.
00:04It'd be an absolute privilege to serve again as your councillor. It's been an
00:08awesome, epic experience the last two terms and yeah seeking a third. We've got
00:13some massive priorities. I think the roads are an absolute disgrace at the
00:17moment. I wasn't one to strongly advocate for roads previously in the past but
00:21they've, I've never seen them worse so absolutely fixing the roads is a must at
00:26the moment. Advocating for better outcomes for the wind farms that
00:29obviously we're powering 75% of the homes in Melbourne from down here. We
00:34should have free power, we don't. We need more, the social license on wind farms
00:39has expired so we need more better outcomes for, from the wind farms.
00:44Obviously I've been a strong advocate for the environment and I'll continue to
00:48do that. I think we need better engagement with our Indigenous brothers
00:52and sisters so I'd love to see that grow and prosper. When I started in 2016 we
00:57didn't even have an acknowledgement of country at meetings so I think you know
01:01we've come a long way but there's a long way to go. I'm proud of the work I've
01:06done as a councillor and I'd love to continue to do that.
