WATCH: Ian Smith discusses his plans as mayor of Moyne Shire Council.
Transcript
00:00 Councillor Smith has received four votes,
00:01 Councillor Gleeson three votes.
00:03 I declare Councillor Smith as the Mayor of Moonshine.
00:07 - Thank you.
00:08 (audience applauding)
00:11 Look, it's a great honour to be elected again as Mayor,
00:15 so, and for the Councillors, fellow Councillors,
00:18 have confidence in putting me in again
00:20 for another 12 months.
00:22 It's, yeah, I feel comfortable,
00:24 and I know with the support of the team behind me,
00:27 I'll be able to get through,
00:29 and hopefully deliver a good outcome for the Moonshine,
00:33 which is my number one priority.
00:35 We have to really be careful with our budgeting
00:38 moving forward.
00:39 That's the number one,
00:41 because we will, we're seeing costs going up,
00:45 and also a lot of our discretionary income
00:48 could be going down.
00:49 But as I say, the Shire's in a very good position
00:52 financially to wear some of these.
00:55 So, but moving forward,
00:57 we just have to be very prudent in our expenditure
01:00 and projects and services.
01:02 But number one priority is to continue delivering services
01:06 to our ratepayers and residents of Moyne.
01:08 I'd just like to thank all of my fellow Councillors,
01:12 and definitely the outgoing Mayor, Karen,
01:14 who has done a fantastic job in the last 12 months
01:18 in keeping us moving forward
01:20 and delivering good outcomes for the Shire.
