Mets' Tense MLB Playoff Race Amidst Atlanta Weather Woes

00:00Mike, I'm starting to worry about the Mets, uh, even though they have a half game lead
00:08over Arizona, it's tenuous at best when you're playing, uh, the final weekend in Atlanta
00:16against the Braves who are desperate to get in and, uh, they're starting to look like
00:20they will get in and I, and you know, the deal we've been talking about, it is pouring
00:25in Atlanta this evening and it's going to rain all night.
00:29They're not, if they get that game in, I can't wait to see it because it looks like
00:33this glob of hurricane pre-drip, you know, before the thing hits these bands.
00:40I mean, they are getting clobbered down there right now and anything could happen.
00:45But if I'm the Mets, I'm very worried about this team they're playing can beat them in
00:49Atlanta.
00:50Yeah.
00:51Uh, look, it's very difficult, uh, especially with what happened last night.
00:55Look, we've kind of said this earlier, I don't see any way they're going to play tonight
00:59or tomorrow.
01:00Now, look, if the Mets took two out of three this week, let's say they don't play these
01:05games and the Mets take two out of three in Milwaukee and the Braves lose two out of three
01:09to the Royals this weekend, uh, the Mets would be in, they wouldn't have to worry about this,
01:14but they might still get dragged to Atlanta because it depends on what happens with Arizona.
01:19So there's a lot of moving parts, uh, with all of these weather situations that are going
01:22to go on.
01:23So here's one thing for the Mets last night, Scotty, two bad things.
01:26They couldn't hit Spencer Schwellenbach and they had big problems with Michael Harris
01:30the second on, uh, Valley Sports Out.
01:32Out to left field, pretty deep.
01:33That's going to keep going and it's going to get out of here.
01:34Michael Harris, a single, a double, and now a homer.
01:35And it's only the fourth inning.
01:36He is in an absolute zone right now.
01:49Well there you have it.
01:51Uh, and, uh, you know, you look at, uh, these teams, they're a half game out.
01:55You just have this feeling, right?
01:57Because Arizona's five and five in their last 10, they've lost three in a row.
02:02Meanwhile, uh, the Braves are, you know, picking up the first game.
02:06You know, if they win tonight, that series is over.
02:09They will win the series and that'll be that.
02:12And I don't think the Mets can afford that, but they're, you know, they're still sitting.
02:17It would seem comfortably numb a half game up on that third wildcard, but that's, you
02:22know, that's lose a game and the other team wins a game and you're done.
02:26Yeah.
02:27Look, I think the Mets are going to get in and I think it's going to be, I think they're
02:32going to get helped here.
02:34I think it's going to help them that they're not playing these games the next couple of
02:37days.
02:38Potentially.
02:39I know that's not official yet because here's why, Scotty, think about this.
02:42If they do, they're not going to see sale and they're not going to see freed.
02:46The Braves are going to have to pitch those guys Friday and Saturday against the Royals
02:49because they need to stay.
02:50They need to make sure they get to Monday.
02:52So they're going to pitch sale and freed in those games and the Mets will miss sale Monday
02:56in the double header, which I think helps them in a big way.
03:00If it gets to that.
