The investigation into the RM4.07 billion 1BestariNet service tender involving the Education Ministry includes examining false claims, says Tan Sri Azam Baki.

The MACC chief commissioner confirmed on Thursday (Sept 26) that the probe focuses on deliverables for the Bestari online learning system in around 8,000 schools nationwide.

Azam saidd it's too early to determine if corruption is involved, adding that the MACC is also assessing the quality of services provided and whether good governance was upheld.

00:00Do you have any update on the YPL case?
00:04The YPL case is still under investigation.
00:06There are a lot of things that we have to investigate.
00:09One of them is related to the financial aid that was given to the schools.
00:14The second is related to the data that was provided to the schools,
00:20which was actually not provided.
00:23So we need to look into this.
00:25Because under the law of corruption,
00:27if it is claimed but not investigated,
00:31it is a crime.
00:34So my colleagues are looking into this issue.
00:36So the issues that have been raised by many parties
00:39are our concern to be investigated by the investigators.
00:43So we still have a long way to go.
00:46Because there are a lot of places that we need to visit.
00:49Because this case involves 8,000 schools.
00:52So this investigation will take some time.
00:58Are the schools involved in the investigation?
01:03All the schools are involved in this One Basic Remand project.
01:08Where One Basic Remand has to provide data
01:11in a specific byte.
01:14So we have to investigate whether it is true or not.
01:18The claim has been made since the contract was signed.
01:23So we have to look into our investigation
01:28to see whether the claim is true or not.
01:30If it is claimed, whether it is true or not.
01:32So all of this is the responsibility of the investigators
01:35to verify the truth.
01:37But so far, in the initial stage,
01:39have there been any findings?
01:41I can no longer make a conclusion
01:43where the investigation is still underway.
01:45So it is unfair to the parties involved.
01:48In the initial stage, I said that there were elements of error.
01:52But I am talking about the scope that needs to be investigated.
01:58Other than the issue of governance and so on.
02:00How many investigators have been called?
02:02I don't remember.
02:04I have to ask how many.
02:05I think there are a lot.
