00:00The Department of Labor and Employment is now strengthening the job opportunities in the provinces of the country.
00:06As one of the directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
00:10to provide quality work and work-life balance for the Filipinos.
00:16This is Noel Talacay's report.
00:20It's been three weeks since April J. from Quezon City,
00:23he came from Mindanao to Metro Manila to look for a job.
00:28There are a lot of opportunities to find a job.
00:32Aside from the expenses here in Metro Manila,
00:35April J. also has a problem with being homesick,
00:39especially when she's only 19 years old and she's separated from her family to bear children.
00:45I'm sick, no one will take care of me.
00:48That's the disadvantage when you're far from your family.
00:52This is also what the Department of Labor and Employment, or DOLE,
00:56is facing when our countrymen go to Metro Manila or other provinces
01:02to look for a job or what they call urban migration.
01:07As one of the directives of the Department of Labor and Employment,
01:09they are now strengthening the job opportunities in each province of the country.
01:14What I was saying back then is not true.
01:18If you want to earn money, look for a job and go to Manila.
01:21When they go here, it adds to the stress.
01:26This was seen in the latest Labor Force Survey of the Philippine Statistic Authority, or PSA,
01:32where it was found that the Cordillera Administrative Region, or CAR,
01:37has a higher employment rate compared to the National Capital Region, or NCR.
01:42We saw that the No. 1 job-seekers are in Region 4A, followed by Region 3, and then the third is NCR.
01:53But the rest of the regions also have their fair share of employment and fair share of underemployment.
02:01DOLE is also saying that the government will meet weekly
02:06with the Public Employment Service Offices of each region and province
02:10to ensure that there are jobs that can be given to those in need.
02:15We have what we call a peso information system.
02:22So all of the Public Employment Service Offices provide information up to the national level.
02:29And that's where we find out how many job-seekers are looking for jobs,
02:36how many employers are in need and are posting vacancies.
02:40The salary adjustment is also underway to increase the minimum salary of workers in the province.
02:48According to the monitoring of the Department of Labor and Employment,
02:51there are five regions in the country that have the highest number of job vacancies.
02:56That's why the government is hoping that all the regions in the country
03:00have enough jobs that can be given to the residents.
03:04Noel Talacay for Pagpasang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
