00:00The government promised to help the farmers affected by the next calamity in the country.
00:08In fact, the Development Bank of the Philippines launched the Agri-Puhunan and Pantawid Program
00:15where the target is to benefit 50,000 farmers.
00:20Claycel Pardilia is in the center of the news.
00:23More than P100 million Pesos were left in the agriculture sector by the next typhoons Ferdie, Henner, and Heled.
00:33According to the Department of Agriculture,
00:361,600 hectares of rice is a high-value crop that was destroyed in Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula.
00:46In addition, 1,300 farmers were affected by the calamity.
00:51The D.A. promised to distribute free rice, fertilizers, and other products to the farmers.
00:58The Development Bank of the Philippines assured the support from the Agri-Puhunan and Pantawid Program of the agency.
01:06Under the program, the farmers are given a chance to borrow up to two hectares of rice for farming.
01:17The first thing they do is to go to the stores or distributors or merchants to buy rice, fertilizers, and pesticides.
01:27As soon as they start farming, they are given interest and loans.
01:34They will pay 15 to 20 percent interest monthly.
01:38We are looking for a program that will really help them.
01:42With the help of the Agri-Puhunan and Pantawid Program,
01:46the D.B.P. received an Interventions Monitoring Card with a credit limit of up to Php 60,000.
01:53Php 28,000 can be used to buy fertilizer, pesticides, and other farm inputs from the accredited stores of the D.B.P.
02:04The farmers will receive Php 8,000 monthly for four months.
02:10The average production of the farmers varies from 5 to 7 tons.
02:15To ensure that their farmers have enough to buy rice whenever there is a calamity,
02:235 tons of their production will be sold to the National Food Authority,
02:28which will be sold at a price of Php 21 per kilo.
02:33Php 21 per kilo for 5 tons or Php 5,000, that is Php 105,000 per hectare.
02:43If we reduce the credit that we gave them to Php 60,000 per hectare,
02:48the difference will be Php 45,000.
02:52The Php 45,000, they can already see it.
02:55The program advanced to Php 8,000 per month for four months.
02:59That is Php 32,000. It's like you already gave them an advance income.
03:03That is Php 77,000 net per hectare to our beloved farmers.
03:13If there is more rice, the farmers will surely earn more.
03:19Only 2% of the annual interest will be collected by the D.B.P.
03:24The farmers will be insured so that whenever there is a calamity,
03:28the farmers don't have to worry about it anymore.
03:32It is a game changer.
03:34It is really the help that our beloved farmers will feel.
03:38Php 3 billion was allocated to the program.
03:42At present, 50,000 farmers are the target beneficiaries of the D.B.P.
03:48The program was first launched in Gimba Nueva Ecija
03:52and expanded to Cordillera, Pangasinan, and other places in the Philippines.
03:58The D.B.P. told us that only one Interventions Monitoring Card is prohibited
04:03and that the agency will conduct field monitoring.
04:07That is to ensure that the program is being used correctly.
04:12Kalaysal Pardiliya for Pambansang TV in the new Philippines.
