00:00After waiting for a few days due to bad weather, fishermen are preparing in Infanta Quezon to fish for 5 days for Benham Rice.
00:09This is what Bernard Ferrero reported.
00:13A few fishing vessels are being carried to the port to load their supplies.
00:17This includes more than one block of ice, more than 1,000 liters of diesel, a few bags of rice, and other food.
00:24For this, they will fish for 5 days for Benham Rice.
00:29Most of the fish they catch are catfish.
00:31How many kilos or tons do you usually catch there?
00:35It depends on the size of the fish.
00:40But usually?
00:42Sometimes two tons, sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. It's the same.
00:48Their income depends on the weather and it is affected if the weather is bad.
00:53If the weather is bad, it's expensive.
00:55If there are a lot of catfish, it's cheap.
00:59It's a bit expensive now because of the bad weather.
01:0315 to 20 crew members ride a fishing vessel to share their income in fishing.
01:09This is their main livelihood, especially some of them already have a family.
01:13That's why they are happy that they can go abroad again to earn money.
01:17These fishermen are also blessed because they can fish for free in Benham Rice.
01:22Meanwhile, the dredging project in Vantilan River continues, which was started in 2022.
01:27The project benefits the seven barangays that used to be flooded.
01:31Aside from this, the flood control dike in Angus River is already being started
01:35to avoid flooding in other places in Enfanta.
01:38We will provide training to the Disaster Risk Adaption Management Council at the barangay level.
01:46We will conduct drills.
01:50But we have realized that the mitigation should be accompanied by preparedness
02:00so that we can control or reduce the adverse effects of disasters in our country.
02:08The projects are said to help to avoid flooding the crops of vegetables and fruits in the country.
02:14It will also not harm the residents whenever the weather is bad.
02:17This is Bernard Ferrer for Pambansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
