00:00Paul questions on your market set.
00:02Go. All right, Doug, here we go.
00:04Texas leapfrog.
00:05They leapfrog Georgia.
00:06Is this the right call?
00:07Yeah, Texas.
00:08Now, number one, they got the best win of the year, I think, at Michigan.
00:12The way I would do the rankings, I would base it on teams
00:15the same record who's got the best win or wins.
00:18I was trying to figure out what the second best win of the year is
00:21or what would be what it would debate with.
00:22Maybe it's USC over LSU.
00:25It could have been Notre Dame and Texas A&M, but now Notre Dame has the loss.
00:28So they don't have the same record.
00:30Both B.C. and Georgia Tech's wins over Florida State don't look like much.
00:33Miami's win over Florida doesn't look nearly as impressive.
00:37So, yeah, I think Texas has arguably the best win of the year.
00:40And I have Texas won in USC, too, based on that criteria.
00:44But, you know, that's how I do it.
00:47So, yeah, I think it's the right call.
00:49I have no issue with this whatsoever.
00:51I think it's the right call.
00:53It's it is and will be a fluid situation
00:57as the season goes by.
00:59You know, who is number one right now? Doesn't matter.
01:01These are AP rankings and, you know, coaches, rankings, whatever.
01:05Once you get down to the the voting for the playoff, then it changes.
01:08But look, they come off an impressive road win.
01:11Georgia just skim past Kentucky 13 to 12.
01:14I'm sorry. It's pretty obvious to say Texas should leapfrog Georgia.
01:18Yeah, I agree with this one, Georgia.
01:21I mean, if Georgia beats Alabama, it just flips back.
01:24It is fluid, Gator.
01:25You know, when you barely get by Kentucky, I know it's, you know,
01:28a power conference school, but one point victory.
01:31And then you have Texas being Michigan on their resume.
01:33I think this is the right call.
01:37All right, sneaky, good game Friday night, three and oh,
01:40Illinois faces three and oh, Nebraska.
01:43What's your early call in this game?
01:46I don't think you guys can be surprised as I'm all in on Nebraska.
01:49You know, I feel about Dylan Riola.
01:50I think he's really, really talented for just being a freshman.
01:53He's ready to roll.
01:56Matt realizes this team playing pretty good football on both sides
01:59and they've got that fan base that is so rabid.
02:03And you're going to put that in a nighttime environment.
02:07Yeah, I'll take the Huskers over the fighting Bielema.
02:10So I am very open about being a Brett Bielema fan.
02:15And Illinois has one that right now, I think the third in the country
02:19with six passes intercepted so far this year, they've held opponents
02:22to 150 yards a game passing.
02:24I think this is a chance for Luke Altmeyer to steal the show
02:28from Dylan Riola, who will get all the hype leading into this game.
02:31But he is still a freshman.
02:34So I'm going to take the junior quarterback in the Illini
02:36to go on the road and to get this win.
02:38That's my early read.
02:39Yeah, you know, I was a big Matt Ruhle fan when he went to Nebraska.
02:42I thought it happened a little bit earlier,
02:43but I think he needed his quarterback and his quarterback
02:46to be cosplaying Patrick Mahomes.
02:48And Riola is a damn good freshman.
02:50It's hard not to be on this bandwagon, guys.
02:52I actually just wish Matt Ruhle would cosplay Andy Reid.
02:55Let's just get this thing going.
02:56I, you know, he's got, you know, kind of he got the facial hair.
02:59He's a little bit bigger guy.
03:00I think he'd make it happen.
03:01But yeah, I don't think it's a sneaky good game.
03:03I think it's actually a really good game.
03:04But I got Nebraska winning this one.
03:08All right, Indiana, blast, UCLA, 42 to 13.
03:12Are the Hoosiers for real?
03:14So I've seen Indiana start the season before and win
03:18unimpressive non-conference games, and I'm going to chalk this up
03:21as another unimpressive win.
03:22UCLA is dreadful, and I can't imagine what's wrong with that program.
03:28And now that they're in the Big Ten, I guess I care a little bit more.
03:31They have got a gorgeous campus.
03:33It is a great school.
03:34They have fertile recruiting ground and they stink.
03:37And the only thing I can think of is that it's an hour bus ride
03:40to their home stadium and they have no atmosphere.
03:42There were 48000 people in the Rose Bowl for that game, and it was sterile.
03:46They need to level that track that they've got in the middle of their campus
03:50and put up an on-campus football stadium.
03:52But I got I digress.
03:53No, Indiana is not for real.
03:55And I don't think we'll know they're for real until November
03:57when they face Michigan and Ohio State and back to back games.
04:00I think they're real in a sense that they can win eight games this season.
04:04I mean, if you want to use that as a are they for real?
04:06I think that they are for real from there, but I don't think they're
04:09like a contender in the Big Ten.
04:11I mean, they've got a really impressive point totals, but I agree.
04:14UCLA might just be awful for a multitude of reasons, which is kind of strange
04:19because I agree with you.
04:20How are you bad when you've got that kind of recruiting ground
04:23and you want to, you know, not play games at a Rose Bowl?
04:26I would I would highlight that you play games at a Rose Bowl.
04:28It's an amazing place.
04:29Oh, beautiful.
04:31But for whatever reason, they just they just can't get it going.
04:34But Indiana always has a ceiling.
04:37And I think eight games is probably their ceiling.
04:39Yeah, I don't think Indiana's real guy.
04:42UCLA is terrible.
04:43Now had Indiana basketball beat UCLA basketball 42 13.
04:47I'd be like, yeah, the Hoosiers basketball team is for real.
04:4913 points in a game.
04:50But no, yeah, the ceiling maybe eight for the Hoosiers.
04:53Either way, Auckland's terrible.
04:55I don't think Indiana's real.
04:57Next question here.
05:00All right, big noon kickoff
05:01pregame is in Columbus for Ohio State Marshall, huh?
05:08Yeah, this one doesn't make any sense to me.
05:09I mean, you know, I say it all the time, dude.
05:12The hell this doesn't make any sense, particularly when you're
05:16you know, Fox, you've got the option to go with big 12 games or big 10 games.
05:20And you're choosing to pass up Oklahoma State
05:25hosting Utah, Oklahoma State's 14 in the country right now.
05:28Utah is 12 in the country right now.
05:30That's in the AP poll.
05:32And Utah is 10 and Oklahoma State is 15.
05:35The coaches pull.
05:36Why wouldn't you go with that game?
05:41Only thing I can think of is that it's central time zone
05:44and they couldn't move the game to an 11 a.m. local kick.
05:48That would be the only.
05:48I mean, the other thing they could do is they could have been in Ann Arbor again
05:52for USC, Michigan.
05:53That's the only ranked on rank.
05:54There's two ranked on rank big 10 games.
05:56There's USC at Michigan and there's Illinois at Nebraska.
05:58But Fox moved the Illinois Nebraska game to Friday night, as we said.
06:02Kansas, West Virginia could have been a selection for them,
06:04but that game's lost its luster with those two teams start.
06:08I just think they opted for the brand Ohio State over two
06:12teams of college football fans appreciate.
06:14But I don't think they think that the Oklahoma State Utah game
06:17is going to get the rating.
06:18Why don't they just do?
06:18I mean, who cares what time the game starts?
06:20You're just doing your pregame show.
06:22It's about the pregame show.
06:23I mean, hey, don't forget this game kicks off at four.
06:26Isn't it fine?
06:28I could.
06:29Yeah, I don't get this one, guys.
06:31Is Matthew McConaughey coming to midfield to face off with Sean Springs
06:34or something with the two flags?
06:35Like, you know, like you did with Charles Woodson?
06:37No, because he was the coach at Marshall.
06:40OK, and that's it took me a second to figure out.
06:42I knew you'd figure out because you're a movie guy.
06:44Gator, I'm not sure.
06:45I mean, it went over his head.
06:46I don't get that part.
06:47But yeah, this doesn't make any sense to me.
06:48There's a lot better games they could have gone to.
06:50But, you know, it is what it is.
06:56All right, Florida is one and two.
06:57Florida State is on three.
06:59What is going on in one of the most talent rich states
07:02in the union here, guys?
07:04All right.
07:04So in Florida's case, I think it's mismanagement of Billy Napier.
07:08He came in hot with NIL and has fizzled and they don't have a winning record yet.
07:13And I think he's in trouble.
07:14I don't really like Mike Norvell, but I think he should be granted some grace.
07:18I was a team that went undefeated last year.
07:20They had 10 wins the year before.
07:22And I think this is an example of how you can swing and miss
07:25in this day and age of quick turnarounds in college football.
07:28They lost their quarterback last year to injury, kept them out of the playoff.
07:32And then they really didn't replace him.
07:34They tried, but they swung and missed.
07:35And I'm going to give Norvell a little bit of grace.
07:39But they these are two schools and programs that I think have been ineffective
07:44in their portal additions.
07:45Well, I think the problem is that Florida State,
07:49I mean, Florida is just they've been a kind of a mess since Urban left.
07:52They've had a couple of flare up years, but nothing really sustained there.
07:55And with Florida State.
07:57I think the problem there is that they're not ready to be that big boy, OK?
08:01They had a big year, but they're not reloading.
08:04They don't reload like like Ohio State does or Alabama or Georgia.
08:08They're nowhere near that.
08:09And, you know, when the quarterback got hurt last year, people started to leave.
08:12And then you had the the players that left for the NFL.
08:15It's and they lost some really good talent to the NFL.
08:18You look at Keon Coleman and Jared Verse and Braden Fisk.
08:22That's a lot to lose from one year to the next.
08:24And it's just they're just not ready to reload.
08:26And they made a mistake with the quarterback.
08:28You do not bank on D.J.
08:29Young. You know, I think this is just college football.
08:34This isn't your grandfather's college football or your dad's college football.
08:37I think there's only like two or three teams that are tier one elite programs
08:41that consistently can stay at the top every single year.
08:44Florida and Florida State aren't one of those teams.
08:46It's like Georgia, Alabama and Ohio State.
08:49Honestly, everybody else, you're going to you might have to expect
08:51every now and then to just be a seven, eight win team.
08:54Yeah, I mean, to win 10, 11, 12 games every year consistently.
08:57Very hard in this new college football.
08:59Plus, I buried the lead.
09:00My number one comment on this is it's all about the you
09:03in the state of Florida right now.
09:04People are dying for University of Miami to be good.
09:07And they're good again.
09:08And that's where the player is going to want to play.
09:09Yeah, but I think this will change.
09:11Who knows what what it looks like in five, six years?
09:13Maybe they'll use them all to be good.
09:14There is, but I think it just continually rotates, guys.
09:22All right, Colorado quarterback
09:24Shador Sanders refused to shake hands with Colorado State quarterback
09:27Braden Flowers, Nicolosi, Nicolosi.
09:30Sorry, it's a little faster.
09:31Nicolosi said before the game, he said hype only gets you so far.
09:35What's your take on this?
09:37It's cashing out a receipt.
09:39I don't have a problem with this.
09:40A shooter doesn't want to shake his hand after the game.
09:42OK, it might make him look stupid, but in his mind, if he's like,
09:45screw this guy, what'd you say about it before the game?
09:47Why would I shake your hand now?
09:49Go away.
09:50He can do it.
09:51It may not look good, but it's his prerogative.
09:53I was never a trash talker, but what always amazes me about trash talkers
09:56is they would talk a ton of trash.
09:57And then after the game, everybody was kind of hugs and high fives.
10:01Not the case here in Colorado in this case.
10:03And I'm wondering, wondering if the outside pressure
10:07in the outside scrutiny is starting to get a little bit to the Colorado program
10:11and just something to keep an eye on.
10:13They make a lot of headlines.
10:14They do a lot of things differently.
10:16And I think maybe the scrutiny is starting to get to the young man.
10:19I don't know, but I'm surprised he didn't shake his hand.
10:22Yeah, I you know, I see both sides, be honest.
10:25Personally, I prefer that they would have shook hands.
10:27It didn't have to be like anything.
10:28Dab each other up, hug, bro hug, anything like that.
10:30Just a more of a mutual respect.
10:32Hey, you know, game's over.
10:34Congratulations. You won.
10:35That's it. Nothing big.
10:37But I also understand the fact that when you talk trash,
10:40the other man is going to keep receipts at some point.
10:42And so I respect the fact that Schudor Center says, you know what?
10:45I remember what you said, man.
10:46And I don't want to shake hands.
10:47So I understand it.
10:49There it is a swing around a country college football.
10:52We'll talk to Michigan, Michigan State.
