00:00The sport practice as a virtuous phenomenon capable of generating economic and social benefits for the Italian system.
00:10This is what emerged in the course of the event, the sport, a key sector for the social, educational and economic development of the country, organized by Deloitte and the Italian National Olympic Committee.
00:20Italy is certainly on the right track to set ambitious goals from the point of view of the impacts that sport can have from a social point of view and also from the point of view of physical well-being.
00:32Today, however, there is a very high level of attention towards the world of sport. There is a base on which to build.
00:40We must then act on the levers of coordination and synergy between all actors, public-private, universities, the world of school, the third sector, to work together to build a better world of sport.
00:56It is necessary to invest, like all activities, to invest and to know how to do it well. This type of investment can only be done by the public, but in my opinion the private sector must develop as many partnerships as possible.
01:12Today I am on the agenda, it seems to me, of all the countries of the advanced economies and not only.
01:19This chapter was an important moment to talk about a fundamental sector for Italy and to illustrate the report written by Deloitte on the benefits that sport produces.
01:28From the document, in fact, it is evidenced that a continuous increase in sports practice by 10% of the population would mean, in the medium-long term, an annual increase in productivity close to 1.7%, equal to almost 34 billion euros more on the GDP and about 81,000 more employed per year.
01:46What produces this economic impact is the fact that it increases the physical well-being of society, because there is obviously a lower expenditure of the national health service, minus 1.6%, because there is less obesity, rather than fewer people with cardiovascular or skeletal problems.
02:04There is less addiction to alcohol and smoke, there is less crime, sport removes the risks of the road. So all these aspects put together actually create a virtuous circle, I repeat, both from an economic point of view, from the point of view of physical well-being and from the point of view of social well-being.
02:22Deloitte's report also underlines that Italians perceive sport as a well-rooted phenomenon, central to the education of both the youth and the school, and that this should therefore be strengthened, starting from the schools and valuing sports initiatives.
02:37Today it is essential to talk about sport among young people, it is a key element in the course of the growth of young people, and we see this constantly, day by day, because the level of youth discomfort has now reached absolutely extraordinary levels.
02:56All this, through sport, can certainly be mitigated. Our study highlights, from this point of view, the positive impacts that an increase in sports practice by Italians can produce under all these profiles. So not only an economic benefit, but also a social benefit for the positive effects on all these issues.
