00:00Comparison of Numbers
00:05This is a glutton dragon. It loves to eat apple. One day, it found apples on its both
00:15sides. One side had five apples and the other side had three apples. As dragon was glutton,
00:27it always went towards that side which has more apples. Here it went towards five apples
00:35and ate them. It walked some distance and found more apples. One side had four apples
00:55and other side had two apples. It saw both the sides and went towards four apples. It
01:11walked some more distance and found more apples. One side had six apples and the other side
01:21had four apples. It saw both sides and went towards six apples. It again walked some
01:35distance and found more apples. One side had five apples and the other side had four apples.
01:45Look at the shape of dragon's mouth. It is always opened on the side which has more
01:51number of apples. Look at the symbol. This is the symbol of greater than. In the symbol
02:00of greater than, the side where the mouth of glutton dragon is opened depicts greater
02:07than sign. Here one side has seven apples and the other side has five apples. Which
02:20side dragon's mouth might have opened? Yes, it is seven apple side. Let's represent it
02:31with greater than sign. A number having more digits is greater than the number has less
02:42digits. Let's take an example 85 and 185. Here 85 has two digits, five ones and eight tens.
02:57But 185 has three digits, five ones, eight tens and 100. So 185 is greater than 85. Similarly
03:13between 2,856 and 236, 2,856 has four digits, six ones, five tens, eight hundreds and two
03:29thousands. Whereas 236 has six ones, three tens and two hundreds. So 2,856 is greater than 236.
03:48If both the numbers have equal number of digits, then how should we compare? We take the number
03:58485 and 398. Both the numbers had three digits. In 485 it has five ones, eight tens and four
04:12hundreds. And in 398 we have eight ones, nine tens and three hundred. Start comparing with
04:26the leftmost digits that is the hundreds. 485 has four in the hundreds place and 398 has three in
04:36the hundreds place. Here four is greater than three. Hence 485 is greater than 398. What if
04:53leftmost digits are same? We take two numbers 413 and 423. In 413 three is in the ones place,
05:10one is in the tens place, four is in the hundreds place. And in 423 three is in the ones place,
05:19two is in the tens place and four is in the hundreds place. Both numbers have three digits
05:27and four is in the hundreds place. Then what should we do? We will start comparing the digits
05:39right to it. That is digits in the tens place. In 413 one is in the tens place and in 423 two
05:52is in the tens place. Here two is greater than one. Hence 423 will be greater than 413.
