00:00Hello, movies in a nutshell here. Today we are working on a thriller film from 2016 called Don't Breathe. Pay attention to spoilers.
00:11An old man pulls a girl by the hair through the street that belongs to an abandoned neighborhood. A group of young people, two men and a woman, unlock the door of a luxury house.
00:20One of them stops the alarm before it turns on. The same person repeats their rules while entering the house, that they do not take money and that they will only rob things below 10,000.
00:32They quickly enter and leave the house. Before they leave, they return the alarm and break the window at the entrance doors, which activates the alarm sound when they run away.
00:40Then they drive in the car, smoke weed and talk. The nervous guy starts talking about another of their friends who left the city. They do not look worried, saying how everyone is leaving Detroit.
00:52They even planned to go to California after the next robbery, without plans for a return. The girl tells the nervous guy to come with them, but he says he can't leave his dad.
01:02He leaves him in front of his house, he enters and goes straight to his dad's workroom, where he opens the drawer and returns the keys from the house they just robbed. His father works in home security.
01:13The third guy, called Money, goes to check the things they got in the robbery and does not get as much as he hoped. He has a little fight with the man who buys things from him, but the guy tells him that if he wants money, he should steal money.
01:25He gives him advice about a new job. Money tells his friends about it. This is a house that belongs to a veteran, lonely, insured by the father of a nervous guy and is located in an abandoned part of the city.
01:36This does not give them much confidence, so Money explains why they should rob him. Allegedly, the veteran's daughter was raped by a rich girl and her family gave him a huge damage of at least $ 300,000.
01:47The girl agrees much more easily with this idea than the nervous guy, Alex. He is worried about the consequences of taking such a large amount, and they, and the company of his father. He leaves.
01:58Later that day, the girl, Rocky, sends Alex a text message asking him to do the job instead of her so she could get someone out.
02:05While Alex is looking for the veteran, Rocky is at home with his little sister, his mother, and his mother's new son. He and his mother are terrible. It becomes obvious that the message that Rocky sent to Alex was obviously about his sister, and then she started asking him if he wanted to go to California with her.
02:21She wants to get her sister out of their terrible family situation. Alex, Rocky, and Money go to rob the veteran's house and neighbor. Alex and Rocky stay alone in the car. She shares her childhood story with him, and Alex tells her that he will go with them to California when he finishes his job.
02:37Money returns to the car and confirms what they knew about the house, when Rottweiler jumps into the girl's window. The old man calls the dog and Money tells them that it is the veteran. He realizes that he is blind and they have a little argument about how it would not be ethical to rob a blind guy.
02:52That night, they return to the neighborhood. The lights are out in the veteran's house. First, they worry about the dog by feeding him with meat with some kind of drug in it. When they go to open the entrance to the door, they realize that the keys that Alex took from the insurance company of his father do not work. They check if there are side doors or windows, but they find only a small window through which only Rocky can pass.
03:14She enters the house and manages to stop Alan Darlinski, who gave her Alex. On the wall, she sees framed pictures of the veteran's dead daughter. In the meantime, Alex and Money are waiting for her to let them in. When they enter the house, they begin to walk around looking for a safe with money. Rocky looks in the closet.
03:29Money goes to the next floor to poison the old man so that he would not wake up. He finds him sleeping in his room with the sounds of his daughter's videos playing while she was a child. The veteran wakes up and turns off the TV, but Money manages to release the gas. He goes down and the three of them find the locked door, thinking that the money must be hidden somewhere behind them.
03:50Money pulls out a gun, thinking that the veteran is sleeping, and breaks the lock on the door. Alex, frightened because Money has a gun, decides to leave. He takes the shoes and socks and leaves. Money and Rocky open the door, but the veteran does not appear and asks who is there. The two of them are silenced, but he hears Money and begins to follow his voice while he tries to lie down first and then understand the old man.
04:13He shoots him once to knock him over, but that does not stop him. Alex hears a gunshot outside. The veteran grabs his gun from his hand and shoots him in the head. He does not know that the girl is there. She hides in the closet. Alex enters the house and flies a little on the veteran, but avoids him, while the old man runs around the house, closing the doors and windows. He hides in the bathroom and sends a message to Rocky. She tells him where to hide and he goes to her.
04:38Before Alex gets there, the veteran enters the closet. He removes a part of the dry wall to open the safe, takes his password, which is completely visible to Rocky, and checks if Money is there. After he finds out that Money is there, he closes the safe and leaves. He still does not realize that Rocky is in the closet. Alex comes to the closet and offers to call the police. Rocky does not agree with this. She opens the safe and takes the money, to his surprise. Alex thinks there is a million dollars there.
05:06He decides to go out through the closed door, thinking that he will take them through the basement and to the opening that leads to the yard. Before they manage to escape, a veteran appears from the inside and starts pulling Money's body to the other part of the house. After a little fear, he continues to do what he did, which gives them enough space to run through the door. At this point, he still does not know that they are there, until a few moments later, when he finds their sticks. He goes to check the safe and realizes that the money is not there.
05:34In the meantime, Alex and Rocky pass through the basement. They are shocked when they find a girl tied to military ropes. The moment she moves, a ring clinging to her, informs the veteran that something is happening in the basement. While they are there, Alex and Rocky find out that it is the same girl who ran over his stick. Rocky decides to help her, regardless of what she did. Trying to go through the basement opening, but the veteran is waiting in front of him and starts shooting.
06:00He kills the girl who killed his stick, while Alex and Rocky run, the veteran calls his baby, saying that his baby is dead, while holding the body of the dead girl. Then he runs after them in the huge basement, and then turns off the electricity.
06:14Since they are somehow trapped, they barely manage to catch and crush Alex, but they run again. Outside the basement, Rottweiler is waiting for them, who is now completely confused. The dog chases them on the second floor and drags them into the corner of one of the rooms. The windows are closed with bars there, and it seems that they have no way to escape. In the meantime, the veteran arrives and goes out of the room with his dog and gun.
06:39Rocky and Alex try to find a way to escape, when she looks through the hole in the wall. They tell him to go through there and that he will guard the door. As she enters the ventilation hole, the old man and the dog pass through the door and attack Alex. He falls through the window one level lower. Returning to the room, the dog follows Rocky into the hole by his smell and chases him. She jumps around the part of the ventilation to escape him.
07:04The veteran understands where Alex is and shoots at him, throwing him on the first floor. Alex runs again, but he finds himself in the room where he keeps his drilling tool and where he hid Moni's body. He beats Alex and beats him with large drills. Rocky wakes up in the ventilation, injured and in pain.
07:20He starts drilling through the ventilation holes again when he sees two holes, one going down into the house and the other going out of the house. As he tries to break the bars on the hole that leads out of the house, the veteran grabs him from the other side. Rocky wakes up in the basement. She is tied in the same way as the other girl.
07:38The veteran is there and she begs him to let her go, saying that she will not tell anyone about the girl. However, she explains that keeping the girl in the basement was not a torture or a punishment for what she did to his daughters. His crazy idea was that if she took his child in the future, it would be fair that she would give birth to a child for him. He kept her there because she was having a hard time with his baby.
08:00With his crazy logic, he comes to the conclusion that Rocky is to blame for her death and that she should be held responsible for it. In the meantime, Alex wakes up. The veteran is not next to him, but Moni's body. He puts the dog in the room and locks it. Then he unlocks the front door. Back in the basement, the veteran warms up a bit. He tells Rocky that she would now have to give birth to his child instead of that girl. But since he is not a rapist, he would not force her to do so, but would only take care of his sperm.
08:30It was discovered that he was warming up his sperm so that he could inject it into her. Fortunately, Alex fell into the basement at the right time and the veteran could not do what he wanted. Alex ties up the veteran and lets Rocky go, who, among other things, kicks the old man out. Alex tells Rocky not to come now, given that they are calling the police and that they should leave the veteran tied up in the basement.
08:51The two of them take the money and leave the basement and go to the front door. At the moment when Alex opens the door, the veteran shoots him because he managed to free him. It's already daylight outside and Rocky starts running. The veteran follows him and sends his Rottweiler. After a long chase, he finally gets to Moni's car. But when the dog arrives, she drops the bag of money.
09:11In the car, she realizes that there is no key. Rocky traps the dog in the car in a smart way, but as soon as she comes out and grabs the bag, the veteran grabs her again and starts pulling her by the hair towards his house. When they get there, Rocky finds a distant noise and activates it. The sound completely disorients the veteran and she manages to push him down into the basement. Thinking he's dead, she grabs the money and runs, while the police come to the house.
09:35Rocky sits with his little sister in a cafe at the airport. She hears the news on TV, and the driver talks about what happened. The veteran survived the fall. However, he did not mention that she was involved in the robbery, nor that the money was lost. Rocky is free to live his best life with his sister in California. Maybe.
