00:00Look who we have here.
00:01Jessica Gunning from Baby Reindeer.
00:02We were just chatting about the show
00:04and how it really went from something
00:06that people hadn't heard of,
00:07and then it came out and exploded.
00:10What was that like for you overnight
00:12to just become the star of one of the biggest things
00:13out there?
00:14Yeah, well, to even be here feels like
00:15we're in some sort of dream.
00:17It feels absolutely crazy.
00:18It came out on the 11th of April,
00:20and since then it's been an absolute whirlwind,
00:22but I'm just so honored to be here and so excited.
00:25Thank you for having me.
00:26Goodness.
00:27Baby Reindeer, Baby Reindeer, Baby Reindeer.
00:30My text chain went wild with this.
00:34What did you do when you first took a look at this project
00:37and you were first thinking about,
00:39even before getting, even before everything,
00:41what did you think of this?
00:42Yeah, well, I fell in love with the script.
00:44I read it all the way through
00:45and just absolutely fell in love
00:46with all the characters in it and the story,
00:48and so, yeah, I went into audition
00:50about four or five times and then got the part,
00:53and then here we are.
00:53Yeah, I'm just so proud to be part of it.
00:56Yeah, really incredibly so.
00:57I love it.
00:58Yeah, thank you.
01:00It exploded and it was something
01:00that people were talking about on social media so much
01:02and with each other.
01:03Were there elements of the show
01:04that you didn't expect people to latch onto
01:06that they really did?
01:08Well, I think just the sheer number of people
01:10that got a chance to watch it,
01:11because it's on Netflix, it's all across the world,
01:13so I just don't think either me or Richard
01:15expected the amount of people to have seen it.
01:17I think we both thought it might be an indie British hit,
01:21and then suddenly, before we knew it,
01:22people in America were talking about it
01:23and people all over the world,
01:25so, yeah, it was astonishing but incredible as well, yeah.
01:28It's the risk of streaming
01:29but also the beauty of streaming
01:30that it can be everywhere all at once.
01:31Yeah, and it really has touched so many people.
01:34I think so many people have got in touch with both of us
01:36after the show finished and just said how moved they were,
01:39especially by episode four,
01:40and just the story in general
01:41and how brave Richard has been in playing that part,
01:44so it's just been amazing how many lives it's affected
01:47and how many people have watched, yeah.
01:49What about the fan response, though?
01:51What's it like at the grocery store for you now?
01:52What's it like at the gas station?
01:53What's going on?
01:54Yeah, well, sometimes, if I haven't had my hair done,
01:55I do look a little bit like Martha,
01:57so occasionally, people might scream and run away,
02:00but in all seriousness, that has happened a few times,
02:03but in the ladies' defense,
02:04she'd just finished watching episode seven
02:06and walked out of the house and I was there,
02:08so maybe that might have been a bit scary to see, but yeah.
02:12No, it's been incredible.
02:12So many people come up and talk to us
02:14and they just say how much they loved it
02:16and, yeah, I'm so proud to be part of it.
02:17That's so cool.
02:18Are you at the Emmys?
02:20He's next at the Emmys, yeah.
02:21Well, we hope you have a fantastic Emmys night
02:23and congratulations on all of the success.
02:25Such a pleasure.
02:26So much to talk to you.
02:26Yes.
02:27So much fun.
02:28Okay.
02:29Bye.
02:30Bye.
02:31Bye.
