00:00In the celebration of Philippine Creative Industries Month this September,

00:04we are honoring the talent and wisdom of Filipinos in various fields of creative industries.

00:11And to share with us the details about this,

00:15and to invite our viewers,

00:17we will be joined by the Assistant Director of Freedom Bureau of Competitive Development

00:22of the Department of Trade and Industry,

00:24Mr. Jordan Darong.

00:38This is Philippine Creative Industries Month.

00:41Alright, sir. What are the primary goals of Philippine Creative Industries Month?

00:47Okay. We celebrate Philippine Creative Industries Month for two reasons.

00:55First, we have to celebrate our Filipino creative outputs and services.

01:02We need to share that to the whole world.

01:08And the second reason is the importance of creativity and innovation

01:14in the economy of the country and nation building.

01:17Alright, sir. What are the sectors in the creative industries

01:21that are given attention for this month?

01:24Okay. We have a lot. We have audiovisual media.

01:28Our films and music are there.

01:31Our so-called design is there.

01:34Cultural services, cultural sites, performing arts are there.

01:38Traditional cultural expressions like gastronomy and culinary practices are also there.

01:44Aside from that, we also have creative services and digital interactive media.

01:51Okay. Sir, you mentioned earlier that creative industries are part of nation building.

01:56How big is its contribution to our society and economy?

02:02Audrey, thank you for that question.

02:05The Philippine Statistics Authority conducted a report last year

02:09and they said that 7.1% of the GDP of the Philippines last year is the creative industry.

02:17So that's how big the contribution of the Philippine creative industry to our economy is.

02:23Alright. Let's go back to Creative Industries Month.

02:26What is our theme for this year?

02:29Okay. So to have a whole-of-nation approach for the celebration of Philippine Creative Industries Month,

02:37we have a hashtag, WeAreACreativeNation.

02:43Okay, sir.

02:47Sir, are you still there?

02:49Yes, yes.

02:50Alright. Sir, what activities and programs are being prepared for the celebration of Philippine Creative Industries Month?

02:58And how can those who are interested be part of this?

03:02Okay, you're right, Audrey.

03:04Because Philippine Creative Industries Month is for the whole of the Philippines.

03:08We're already on September 16.

03:11A lot has happened since September 1.

03:14Actually, we opened Philippine Creative Industries Month on September 3 in Trinoma.

03:20But we're going to do it one by one.

03:23It's one of the events because there are 100 events all throughout the country.

03:28Philippine Creative Industries Month.

03:3062 local government units and all regions are participating in the celebration.

03:36The month of September, other than being a civil service month, is Philippine Film Industries Month.

03:44I invite everyone to go to selected cinemas or metropolitan theaters for the Philippine Film Industries Month celebration.

03:56And for the rest of the month, here in Luzon, we'll see each other at the Maybank Theater on September 20 for the International Design Conference.

04:07We'll also have the Global Blockchain Congress in Bataan on September 24-25.

04:13Our universities, like the De La Salle College of St. Benil, Hub of Innovation for Inclusion of Benil, will have an ongoing exhibit on workshops.

04:23We'll also have the Maharlika event in De La Salle, Lipa.

04:27It's also Bamboo Month.

04:29The Kawaiyaan Program of DTI-PTRI is also there in Maytagig.

04:35And the 2nd Manila International Dance Festival in Rizal Park on September 26-29.

04:41It's not over yet because Visayas is also celebrating.

04:46We'll also have the Likha Innovate DOSC Creative Industry Research and Development Forum in Cebu City.

04:53We'll also have the Stellar Fashion Gala in Samal Island, Davao.

04:58We'll also have the Yandi Festival in Iligan.

05:01It's a whole month.

05:02And we'll also see each other at the Creative Nation Summit on September 30 in Rizal Park Hotel.

05:08So the celebration of our Creativity Month is full of excitement.

05:13It's great that there's this kind of celebration.

05:16The level of awareness of our countrymen will be higher.

05:20But on a lighter note, what are we expecting after this event?

05:24Of course, this is being done in the whole country.

05:29What do we expect in terms of the outcome of this event?

05:37Thank you, Prof.

05:40Because our president and the entire government has a vision.

05:47We want the Philippines to be the premier creative hub by the year 2030.

05:55So we know that the celebration of the Philippine Creative Industry Front, which we do yearly,

06:01will elevate Filipino creativity.

06:03And this will encourage people that creativity and innovation are things that will help us move forward in our country.

06:14We believe that we are all creative.

06:17So the Department of Trade and Industry is united in this celebration.

06:23Okay.

06:24Lastly, sir, as part of DTI, in your opinion,

06:27what steps should the government take to promote and support the creative industries of the country and be recognized internationally?

06:38Thank you very much, Audrey.

06:40We have five things that we want to bring to life.

06:44We would like to build more creative ecosystems.

06:47These are the creative spaces and creative hubs.

06:50So we are talking to the entire government, national or local,

06:55to help us provide sufficient spaces for our creative Filipinos to create their creative outputs, services, and goods.

07:08Second, we want all of us to help increase the number of skills and competencies through creative upskilling and reskilling.

07:19We also request that we pay attention to financing support and funding support.

07:27And you, the Department of Trade and Industry, are united so that not only our creativity is recognized here in the Philippines, but also around the world.

07:37So we are asking for help from LGUs and private sectors to help elevate Filipino creativity.

07:46So this month of September, although creativity is not only in September,

07:52but at least let's make this a reason for us to celebrate Filipino creativity and innovation.

08:00Well, sir, we look forward to the success of the Filipino creative industries.
