00:00A Muslim living in a non-Muslim country has a choice between staying and migrating to
00:19a Muslim country.
00:21If you have such a luxury and you are able to choose, definitely going to a Muslim country
00:32would be a plus and a better choice.
00:40People would argue and say, but Shaykh, if we live in the West, in a Kafir country, we
00:46have social security, we have good roads, we have discipline, we have policies and procedures
00:54that are practiced and not simply put there for PR reasons.
01:01We have justice and fairness and all are equal under the eye of the law.
01:10We have better education, better health care, better freedom of expression and the ability
01:19to be treated as human beings, which in so many Islamic countries, Muslims lack.
01:27We would argue against this by saying that even if all of this is true, though I beg
01:35to differ, even if it's all true, this does not constitute a small percentage of the benefits
01:48of being a Muslim in the lands of Islam.
01:53Nothing beats being a Muslim, walking on the streets and hearing the Adhan and seeing people
02:01saying As-Salaamu Alaikum and you reply Wa Alaikum As-Salaam.
02:05In knowing that the meat I'm eating is Halal, I don't have to doubt it, so all restaurants
02:11are Halal for me to eat.
02:14In feeling that those around me share the same Aqeedah, they worship one Lord, who is
02:22Allah the Almighty, they follow the Sunnah of the Prophet Alaihi As-Salaatu Wa As-Salaam.
02:27You feel the tranquility, the peace where you live.
02:35Allah says in Surah Nisa chapter number 4, verse number 97, when the angels of death
02:41come to take the soul of the person who has died in sin against his soul and asks him,
02:51what is your state?
02:53And he replies that we have lived in oppression on this earth, our state was very bad, oppressed.
03:08Then the angel replies that the earth of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is spacious enough for
03:15you to migrate from the evil.
03:19And for such people, Allah continues, their abode is hell, a refuge of evil.
03:26And this verse was revealed in context to Muslims living in non-Muslim countries.
03:31The world of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is so big that if you are living in a space where
03:35there is oppression, where there is shirk, where there is activity which is un-Islamic,
03:40you have to migrate.
03:42And if you do not, Allah says your abode is hellfire, a refuge which is evil.
03:50The next verse says in Surah Nisa chapter 4, verse number 98, as to those who are in
03:59oppression and men and women and children who don't have the power or do not have the
04:07facility to migrate, verse number 99 says Allah will forgive them.
04:14Verse number 100 says that as to those who sacrifice their home and leave their land,
04:24Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala gives them many a refuge in the world.
04:29And if the person dies as a refugee away from his home, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will
04:36reward him.
04:37Here Allah is talking about those who do hijrah for the sake of Allah and His Rasul, those
04:43who leave their home for the sake of Allah and His Rasul and take refuge.
04:51The land is very big, he'll find many refuge.
04:55And if he dies away from his home as a refugee for the sake of Allah and His Rasul, Allah
04:59will slowly reward him.
05:00So from this verse, all the scholars, they agree that if a person is living in a non-Muslim
05:10land, there can be three options.
05:13Number one option is that he cannot practice his deen freely.
05:19Practicing deen hidingly is not acceptable.
05:21If you cannot practice your deen freely and you cannot call yourself freely Muslims, then
05:26it becomes compulsory for you to migrate, compulsory.
05:32To migrate from a Muslim country to a non-Muslim country, it is haram unless it be for education
05:38or for the purpose of dawah.
05:40For education purpose you go, you acquire education, come back, no problem.
05:44Or if you go there not as a part-time da'i, as a full-time da'i to deliver the message,
05:49then the scholars say it's permissible.
05:51But if you just shift from Muslim land to a non-Muslim land for a better living as the
05:56questioner posed, it is not permitted at all.
06:00If you weigh the pros and cons, nothing beats being in a Muslim country.
06:06Even if you are in the Scandinavian countries or in highly modern civilized countries, as
06:15a Muslim, this is not your place.
06:18You do not fit.
06:21And this is not racist by the way.
06:23This is something that is related to our conviction and belief.
06:28So living in such kafir countries has its merits, no argument in that.
06:36But at the same time, it comes with a very high cost, a very high price, which real Muslims
06:45would not be willing to pay.
06:48They would not jeopardize their children's Islam and safety just for a passport.
06:58While they can stay in their Muslim countries, yes, maybe a bit poor, not that highly educated,
07:07the infrastructure is awful, so much corruption in the government, so much insecurity in the
07:14terms of justice, etc.
07:16But still you are a Muslim living among the Muslims.
07:21There has been a constant and endless attack on Islam in the West.
07:25So why are so many Muslims aspiring to go there or choosing to stay when they are able
07:29to move to a Muslim country?
07:32It's not just the media targeting Muslims now, it's now even happening in the streets
07:36in broad daylight.
07:37We are seeing asset attacks, mosques being targeted, physical and verbal abuse.
07:43Are these countries safe for us to live and raise our children?
07:46Now more than ever, we need to seriously consider making hijra if we are able to do so.
07:52Which countries would you consider?
07:54Let us know in the comments.
