00:00On Wednesday, President Nicolás Maduro highlighted the importance of the debates that took place
00:16during the World Anti-Fascist Congress being held from September 10th to 11th in the country.
00:25In Argentina, Citizens Mobilises, the opposition in Congress, tries to overturn Millet's veto
00:29to an increase in pensions.
00:35And in the United States, the presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris
00:39participated in the first presidential debate ahead of the elections of November 5th.
00:48Hello and welcome to From the South, I'm Alejandra García from Telesur Studios in
00:52Havana, Cuba.
00:53We begin with the news.
00:54On Wednesday, President Nicolás Maduro highlighted the importance of the debates that took place
00:59in the framework of the World Anti-Fascist Congress being held from September 10th to
01:0311th in the country.
01:05During the closure of the event, the President assured that for the past two days, Venezuela
01:09became the epicenter of the fight against fascism and all those dangerous expressions.
01:15The President assured this Congress is also a homage for Chilean leader Salvador Allende,
01:20when the world remembers 51 years of the coup d'etat that ended with his life but never
01:25with his political legacy and example.
01:28The World Anti-Fascist Congress also took place amid the struggle Venezuela is fighting
01:32against the far-right wing of the Western powers, and it has also been a starting point
01:37to create an international force to face fascism in defense of democracy and peace in the world.
01:53If a technocrat businessman is needed who wears a white shirt to look like a simple,
01:57humble person with a lot of money and who doesn't need to steal, who is a technician,
02:07a professional, not a politician, and who assumes the anti-politics, then they create
02:23a no-boy in Ecuador.
02:25There is something for all tastes, fascism, neo-fascism and similar expressions.
02:37The Venezuelan President praised the Congress' coverage carried out by the media and said
02:41he had enjoyed and followed closely the most important moments of the event.
02:51I have enjoyed the coverage made by Teleser, Venezolana de Televisión and other social
02:56networks and media about the presentations, the debates and the proposals that are coming
03:01up in this Bolivarian Caracas, on September 10th and 11th in this Congress of World Struggle
03:06Against Fascism.
03:11On Wednesday the National Assembly of Venezuela held a debate in rejection of the interference
03:16of the Spanish extreme right in the Congress of Deputies to deny the victory of President
03:20Nicolás Maduro in the elections of July 28th.
03:23During the ordinary session, the legislators strongly rejected the measure of the Spanish
03:28Parliament and condemned the flagrant interference of the Spanish Parliament in the internal
03:33affairs of Venezuela, reaffirming the hegemonic powers will never rule over Venezuela.
03:38Likewise, the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, assured that Venezuela will
03:43not tolerate disrespectful attitudes and assured that the country is willing to stop commercial
03:48relations with Spain due to the negligent position of the Spanish far right.
04:18In addition, the Spanish Parliament says that there were hundreds of Venezuelans protesting
04:40at the doors in support of this decision, but the Spanish Parliament also says that
04:46there are tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of Venezuelan refugees living in Spain.
04:52Where were they?
04:54Where were the Venezuelans who support Edmundo González here in Venezuela?
04:58Where are they?
05:00Where were the demonstrations?
05:02Where were those who supposedly support him in Madrid?
05:06Where were they?
05:07Look, they are trying to make it impossible.
05:10They cannot wash their face of that shame.
05:13The Spanish Parliament today, what it did was become a spokesman of international fascism.
05:19It became a spokesman for the crimes that this macabre duo of María Corina Matado and
05:25Edmundo González committed against the Venezuelan people.
05:29And it is not the first time.
05:34In the same context, Jorge Rodríguez requested the Permanent Commission on Foreign Policy
05:39to approve a resolution to break off relations with the Government of Spain.
05:45President of the Permanent Commission of the Foreign Policy and other members of the Commission
05:49of Foreign Policy, come together immediately.
05:53Approve a resolution that the plenary approved in a parental way, urging the Government of
05:57the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to immediately break all diplomatic relations, all commercial
06:03relations, all consular relations.
06:06Let all representatives of the delegation of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain
06:11and all consulates live here, and we bring our people from there.
06:15Let them stay with their murderers, with their hitmen, with their fascists, with their violence.
06:21Let them stay with that caterpillar.
06:25In Argentina, citizens mobilized in rejection of President Javier Millet's veto to a pensions
06:30increase.
06:31This happens as the opposition in Congress tried to overturn the veto.
06:34However, the veto was ratified with the support of centrist legislators, who changed sides
06:39at the last minute.
06:41Demonstrators reject the government's economic policies, which have led to the increase of
06:45hunger in the nation and the possible dismissal of 60,000 workers.
06:50Argentina is living a situation that affects the sustainability of life, since many families
06:55have difficulties to make ends meet and afford the basic food basket.
07:05Peruvian dictator Alberto Fujimori died on Wednesday at the age of 86 due to cancer his
07:12daughter Keiko Fujimori confirmed via X.
07:14Earlier, it was reported that Fujimori's health had worsened as a result of his long
07:19fight against cancer and wound ailments due to his advanced age.
07:25Last May, Fujimori reported he had been diagnosed with a malignant tumor in his tongue.
07:30He has been suffering from a cancerous lesion for more than 27 years.
07:35The former president, who governed Peru from 1990 to 2000, was sentenced to 25 years in
07:40prison for violating human rights, specifically for two massacres of civilians perpetrated
07:46by an army squadron in the fight against the Sandero-Luminoso group in the early 1990s.

08:21Welcome back.
08:23In the United States, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump engaged in a tense confrontation during
08:27the only presidential debate U.S. citizens will likely see before going to the polls
08:32in November.
08:33The presidential candidates crossed strong accusations on sensitive issues such as economy,
08:38migration, abortion, health care and foreign policy, while also dodging direct questions
08:43from moderators and future policy plans.
08:45Trump assured that under his presidency, there would never have been a war with Ukraine.
08:51In turn, Harris accused him of supporting Russian President Putin.
08:55During the face-off, Latin America and the Caribbean were scarcely and negatively alluded
08:59to, as Trump attacked Haitian and Hispanic immigrants, which, together with his questioning
09:05of Harris' ethnic background, promoted the current vice president to warn about his divisive
09:10approach.
09:11I mean, honestly, I think it's a tragedy that we have someone who wants to be president
09:21who has consistently, over the course of his career, attempted to use race to divide the
09:27American people.
09:28You know, I do believe that the vast majority of us know that we have so much more in common
09:33than what separates us, and we don't want this kind of approach that is just constantly
09:37trying to divide us, and especially by race.
09:41I intend to be a president for all Americans and focus on what we can do over the next
09:4710 and 20 years to build back up our country by investing right now in you, the American
09:53people.
09:54In turn, former U.S. President Donald Trump criticized the Biden-Harris administration
10:00for its alleged lack of action during the current term.
10:04So she just started by saying she's going to do this, she's going to do that, she's
10:07going to do all these wonderful things.
10:09Why hasn't she done it?
10:11She's been there for three and a half years.
10:14They've had three and a half years to fix the border, they've had three and a half years
10:18to create jobs, and all the things we talked about.
10:22Why hasn't she done it?
10:27Also during the debate, when questioned about their stand on the ongoing Israeli genocide
10:31of the Palestinian people, both candidates ratified Israel's right to defend itself,
10:36with Vice President Harris highlighting the two-state solution option, but backing the
10:40current administration's support for the Zionist regime.
10:44And so absolutely, I said then, I say now, Israel has a right to defend itself.
10:49We would.
10:51And how it does so matters.
10:53Because it is also true, far too many innocent Palestinians have been killed, children, mothers.
11:01What we know is that this war must end.
11:06It must end immediately, and the way it will end is we need a ceasefire deal and we need
11:11the hostages out.
11:13And so we will continue to work around the clock on that, work around the clock also
11:19understanding that we must chart a course for a two-state solution.
11:24And in that solution, there must be security for the Israeli people and Israel, and in
11:30equal measure for the Palestinians.
11:32But the one thing I will assure you always, I will always give Israel the ability to defend
11:38itself, in particular as it relates to Iran and any threat that Iran and its proxies pose
11:45to Israel.
11:46But we must have a two-state solution where we can rebuild Gaza, where the Palestinians
11:52have security, self-determination, and the dignity they so rightly deserve.
12:09The Israeli forces keep up the siege against the Palestinian civilian population.
12:17In the past couple of hours, they slaughtered over 27 Gazans.
12:21While the U.S. presidential nominees ratified their support for Israel's right to defend,
12:25the U.S. is the main partner in the genocidal operation of the Zionist regime against Palestine.
12:31On Wednesday, the Israeli troops have been dropping bombs on a residential building in
12:35Hantanis, claiming 13 lives.
12:38Meanwhile, the army killed a fisherman nearby al-Mawassi, and minutes later, the Israeli
12:43forces attacked the Habbalia refugee camp, leaving nine dead, including three children
12:48and two women.
12:49The Israeli army further mounted an incursion into an apartment building in Nusayrat, Gaza's
12:54downtown, bringing about four fatality victims and 11 injured.
13:06In this context, United Nations Secretary-General Spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said that the
13:10United Nations condemns the attack perpetrated by the Israeli army in the Hantanis refugee
13:15camp in Gaza.
13:16Dujarric assured that the Secretary-General considers unacceptable the use of weapons
13:22in populated areas.
13:24The spokesman reiterated that there is currently no safe place in Gaza, and appealed on behalf
13:29of the agency for an immediate ceasefire.
13:31According to health authorities, occupation forces have killed nearly 41,000 Palestinians
13:37since last October.

17:09teams and all those who are working tirelessly to help the affected people.
17:19In Laos, flash floods in the wake of Typhoon Jagi brought destruction in the north, following
17:24villages and farmland and as authorities reported one person dead.
17:29The worst-hit provinces were Luang Nam Tha and Phong Sali, where residents had to shelter
