00:00It's been a long few months for many public sector workers.
00:05Thousands have been on strike and there has been little movement on whether they'd be
00:08getting pay rises they think are fair considering the soaring cost of living.
00:14Now for thousands of NHS workers and teachers across the country, that pay rise will come
00:19after it was just denounced by the Welsh Government.
00:23It means that all NHS staff will receive at least a 5.5% pay increase with doctors receiving
00:296%. Teachers will also be receiving a 5.5% increase, which for everyone receiving the
00:35pay rise will be backdated to April.
00:40While it is certainly a welcome move by the Welsh Government, many have questioned why
00:43it's taken so long to come about, considering the same pay rise was confirmed months ago
00:48in England.
00:51The Welsh Government argued that they had to confirm that it was affordable and are
00:54now confident that they will receive the extra money from the UK Government.
