00:00Beep beep beep wide load coming through and I'm not talking about my I saw your eyes wandering. Don't look at me
00:05Look at furniture. No, look at me. Okay enough fooling around. We've got furniture to flip come along
00:09Let me put it all together and show you what we're working with. Ah
00:13If you're wondering what happened to the top drawer, I happened see what had happened was I got a new fancy sander for Christmas
00:19I wanted to use it. I saw the first thing I could say in that drawer and I ruined it
00:22Yes, I realized Christmas was nine months ago mind your business now
00:26I'm finally gonna fix this thing or at least that was my intention when I started this project
00:30Welcome to this episode of she doesn't know it yet, but she ruins this dresser twice things started out
00:36Super well as they usually do in a tragedy
00:38I was out thrifting one day for things I don't need as one does and I came across a book that changed my life within
00:43The contents of this furniture flipping Bible. I read one line. It said most factory-made furniture is finished with lacquer gasp
00:49That probably means nothing to you
00:51But it means everything to me because this is a factory-made dresser and it is probably finished with lacquer and you know
00:57What removes lacquer?
00:58Lacquer thinner and I just so happen to have a big old bottle of that toxic chemical
01:02So I put a little a can I'm working in sections and you can literally see it liquefying
01:06Can you imagine if I had to sand all those corners science, baby?
01:09I was just gonna do the details on the drawers, but then I got a little lacquer happy
01:13Let me show you the magic in real time sweet dreams are made of this
01:18Who am I to disagree I travel the world and the seven seas
01:25Hey dad film me. I want to show them how easy this stuff scrapes off with one brushstroke of the lacquer thinner
01:30Oops, miss them. Oh miss them again. Miss them again. Oh my goodness. Cut cut cut it cut it cut dad
01:37Stop filming time to sand look at me still smiling. I have no idea. This is all about to go downhill
01:44Ah mosquito get away from me get
01:49What did I just say get away leave me alone
01:58What is the family 40 out here y'all just being greedy now let that be a warning
02:03Yeah, they didn't care. They bit me 37 times. I blame Bill Gates
02:06I removed the rest of the stain with 150 grit and then made a few swiggle marks with a pencil so I could sequence sand
02:12Back up to 220 grit this helps me remove any pigtails in case I got lazy while I was sanding and helps me ensure an even
02:18Smooth sand I use an air compressor to blow off any dust
02:25And then gave it a good clean with paint thinner to prepare for stain and this is the moment
02:30I should have known everything was too good to be true. Do you notice anything a little off about this drawer look closer?
02:35It's two different colors
02:38That's because that's red oak on the bottom and literally everything else is white oak spoiler this isn't gonna go very well
02:44Let me explain to you the vision real quick. I wanted to keep the original hardware
02:48I like them, but they also give me apothecary by so I was thinking if we darken this baby up
02:52It's a little modern twist on a card catalog. This is what I wanted and this is what I got
02:59What is that at this point? I was still being an optimist and thought I could fix it. Oh boy
03:08I
03:11Couldn't not only did I make it look ten times worse
03:13But I probably poisoned myself cuz toner stinks
03:16Even if it wasn't super splotchy the humidity from doing this outside made it blush ugly hideous
03:23horrendous awful and any other negative comments you can think of after I finally made the realization that I had to start all the way
03:30Over I'm going rogue. I give no I'm covering the hardware holes and we're painting
03:35So come with me as I cover up all my hard work. Oh, no, you're going down. I'm sorry. I dropped you
03:40I got it. I gotta work fast though. I'll come back for you. I promise. Oh, you okay?
03:43You took a hard tumble. I finished though. I sanded down the Bondo flush and the rest of the drawers and now we're priming
03:59Now I'm not painting everything because I respect myself and the time that I put into this
04:03But this color still is not it and I was after standing twice
04:05So I'm using a gel stain so the color can lay on top of the wood
04:08I drilled new holes for hardware and then I could have painted and been done
04:11But if we're not doing the most, what are we doing? I decided just painting is not enough
04:15So I'm adding some texture wallpaper. My dad helped me cut this template to make my cuts easier
04:19But I still managed to it up
04:20So dad stepped in cuz I'm an idiot and forgot to use cardboard to help me get clean lines. That's my cut
04:27That's dad's cut
04:29Cutting the wallpaper is the hard part
04:31Applying it is the easy part apply a thin layer of wallpaper glue to the entire back every square inch of it
04:36You want it to stick don't you then press it down wait 24 hours and paint it
04:40It should look a little something like this three coats of paint three coats of poly later and she's gorgeous
04:45Yes, you can see it up close. Come here. Of course. I made the design continuous
04:50What do I look like a chump we put effort into this baby way too much
04:53In fact, I can't wait for someone on Facebook marketplace to lowball me or maybe I'll just keep it as a reminder to myself
04:58To never give up psych. I need this thing out of my life. I had a horrible time doing it
