26 foreigners nabbed for immigration offences in Pulau Perhentian

Over two dozen foreigners were rounded up for various offences during an Immigration Department operation Pulau Perhentian.

Immigration director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said investigations revealed that they were involved in operating water taxis, providing spa services and working as security guards at a resort.

00:00Over two dozen foreigners have been arrested for various offences during an immigration
00:05department operation in Terengganu.
00:08Immigration Director-General Datuk Ruslin Juso said 26 individuals, aged between 22
00:14and 50, were apprehended on Pulau Perhentian on Monday.
00:19Several attempted to escape but were successfully apprehended despite the difficult terrain.
00:24Ruslin said all those detained are believed to have been operating businesses and working
00:29in the area since early this year.
00:33Investigations revealed that they were involved in operating water taxis, providing spa services
00:38and working as security guards at a resort.
00:42Three Bangladeshi men, two Pakistani men and three Thai women were found to have only social
00:47visit passes, while the remaining foreigners lacked valid travel documents or visit passes
00:53altogether.
00:54Ruslin said two local employers have been summoned to assist with the investigation.
