00:00The Transport Ministry has issued a directive to all airlines to enhance their management
00:06of flight delays and cancellations.
00:09The Ministry said airlines must improve how they communicate delays and cancellations
00:13to passengers while ensuring that affected customers receive proper compensation and
00:18care.
00:19It said this must be in line with the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code 2016 and
00:24its latest amendments, which came into effect on September 1.
00:28The Ministry said this was part of the government's broader efforts to ensure a more reliable
00:33and passenger-friendly aviation sector in Malaysia.
00:37It stressed that all industry players must strictly follow international standards, such
00:41as those laid out in the International Civil Aviation Organization's guidelines.
00:46The Ministry has also instructed the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia to step up
00:51its safety monitoring and enforcement in the aviation sector and to carry out regular audits
00:56to ensure compliance with international standards.
