00:00Malaysia Airlines' flight and route cuts are not a cause for concern as they are beneficial
00:08for the airline in the long term, say aviation experts.
00:13Aviation analyst and consultant Brendan Sobey said the airline is dealing with widespread
00:17industry problems such as supply chain disruptions and aircraft delivery delays which have forced
00:23it to extend the use of older planes.
00:27He added that older aircraft are being pushed harder, leading to more frequent breakdowns
00:31and unscheduled maintenance.
00:34He said the current service cuts are seen as temporary, with confidence in the airline's
00:38performance expected to improve as it resolves operational, maintenance and manpower issues
00:43by the end of the year.
00:46Another aviation expert, Girmas Sinkera, said sending engines overseas for maintenance is
00:51causing further delays due to parts shortages.
00:55He dispelled the notion that Malaysia Airlines might have cut corners to keep its fleet operational
00:59and maintain schedules, saying that Malaysia Airlines will not compromise on safety.
