00:00Hey, good evening and welcome to WrestleTalk with the Rabid Beaver.
00:03We have a very special show for you today.
00:06None other than the one, the only one of my favorite in-ring performers
00:10and the hottest talent in the Southeast right now is going to be joining me.
00:14He is the lean, mean, hip swiveling machine himself.
00:18And let me tell you, he is the man you definitely want to go see.
00:22And if you're going to beat him, as he says, you're going to have to train harder.
00:27Mr. Tyler Shoup is here.
00:30Mr. Tyler Shoup, how are you doing today, sir?
00:32I'm doing great. How are you doing?
00:33Thank you for having me on, man.
00:35Oh, I like that hat already off the bat.
00:37Well, hold on one second.
00:39You look like.
00:40You look like you've been training harder a little bit.
00:43A little bit. Yeah, just a little bit.
00:44I've been losing a little bit of weight.
00:45I've been trying to get back in shape so I can start fighting again.
00:48But until the day comes, we're going to be training harder.
00:51I can tell you are committed to the routine.
00:53Thank you for having me on. I'm very excited to talk to you.
00:56You're very welcome.
00:57Thank you for being here, first and foremost, and agreeing to be here.
00:59Myself and my fans have some questions for you,
01:02and we're going to start with a fan question. Are you ready?
01:05Of course, I am ready.
01:06All right, Mr. Shoup, one of our fans is none other than Princess Lady K,
01:10and she normally sits across from me here.
01:13But today we have you as our special guest here.
01:15And for the several months we've been following you,
01:17starting way back at Pro Wrestling Entertainment, Wrestle for Recovery 3.
01:21And what a journey in such a short time it's been for you.
01:25You know, you've been NWA, JCP, Piledriver Pro,
01:29SPCW, GCW, and very many more AEW, all of them.
01:34You've been everywhere, sir.
01:35Can you please tell us about your journey in professional wrestling
01:39and how you got started? Who trained you and the roller coaster?
01:42It's been a whirlwind, very fast and just a little bit over a year, really.
01:47Just so much I feel like has happened.
01:49And I just feel like I keep getting more confident,
01:51having more fun with each opportunity that comes with it.
01:55But I actually everyone kind of might have heard about me around a year ago,
01:59kind of starting over the last year, hearing about me in the wrestling scene.
02:03But I actually was trained by Dr.
02:05Tom in one of the first classes he had at the JPWA,
02:08right when he started up in Knoxville.
02:10And that was back in 2019.
02:12So I was in one of his first classes here, trained with Dr.
02:15Tom, was one of the hardest workers in that class.
02:21But we had a pretty good group of people like Channing Lorenzo Stacks,
02:24who's on NXT right now.
02:25He trained, used the class before me, but he hung around, helped me.
02:28He taught me so much kind of getting in the ring with him.
02:30Just he really inspired me a lot.
02:33And he's kind of paved the way for me right now that I look to follow after.
02:37And Ivy Nile, she's on Monday Night Raw right now.
02:39She was in class. She took her first bumps with me as well.
02:43She she's a beast.
02:44But yeah, no.
02:45So I got my start all the way back in 2019 with Dr.
02:48Tom at JPWA, and then I walked away.
02:51I actually took some time away from wrestling.
02:53I had some other opportunities.
02:54I'm a strength coach, D1 Harden Valley, which is in Knoxville, Tennessee.
02:58And really, I spent some time away kind of fighting that battle,
03:01trying to inspire others and motivate others to train harder
03:04and commit to the routine before I could establish that in professional wrestling.
03:08I feel like I had to do it in Tennessee.
03:11And Tennessee is I mean, you've seen the people.
03:12I mean. Oh, yeah.
03:14Some of them are not.
03:15If you can get out of here, you can get over anywhere.
03:18They are the roughest, toughest,
03:19meth billy looking group of people that you'll ever see in your life.
03:22I could spend even some time away from the wrestling scene
03:25to motivate the general population of Tennessee to just train hard
03:28to get in a little bit better shape.
03:30Then then I felt like I could definitely do it in a wrestling ring.
03:33And that's kind of what I've done for the last year.
03:35And a lot of places really have kind of hopped right on the bandwagon.
03:39They really enjoy me.
03:40They yell, shoot, trains harder right back at me.
03:42Some places don't like me as much.
03:44So it's kind of just more of the place
03:46than taking the time for me to get around to them more than anything, rather than
03:50I just got I'm an acquired taste, as some may say.
03:55Well, you're definitely an acquired taste and you're definitely worth booking.
03:59I will say that if if anybody out here is watching anybody
04:02that's going to be joining us later on from RCW Championship on wrestling,
04:07any of you guys out there at GCW, any of you guys that are out there,
04:10AEW, wherever you guys are following us at SPCW,
04:13this is the man that you definitely want to book.
04:14He's definitely a great talent.
04:16You spoke about something earlier.
04:18You said how many hours you're talking about taking some time away.
04:21How many hours do you contribute to your training regimen
04:24to keep you in the spot that you currently are now and peak physical conditioning?
04:29That's a very, very difficult question, because really 24,
04:33because the mind is one of the strongest muscles in the entire body.
04:37So my mind is training constantly, 24, seven all day, going, running, running,
04:42running, just because my muscles are resting.
04:44They require a little bit more rest.
04:46Doesn't mean you rest your mind.
04:47So I am always thinking about the next move where I'm trying to make a statement
04:51at who I'm going up against, whether that's Joe Briggs this Saturday night
04:54for the SPCW Championship or another one of the opportunities
04:57that I have in Nashville, going back down to Georgia.
04:59I'm always scheming, thinking up ahead of what is my opponent doing?
05:03I'm trying to gain an advantage over them.
05:05Think about what I was thinking about, who the greatest of all time,
05:09John Cena, Roman Reigns, back in the day, the Rockman, Stone Cold.
05:12You could go forever.
05:13Like, what were they doing to always prepare themselves for the next week?
05:16So everyone has kind of a different routine, no pun intended.
05:20And mine is, I mean, I train very hard in the morning.
05:22You talk about my workout regimen.
05:24I'm hitting the weights very hard.
05:25I'm hitting conditioning very hard, film very hard, and recovery is just as important.
05:30So that's your meals.
05:31That's your nutrition.
05:32That's the massages that you get during the week, stretching,
05:37treating your muscles right.
05:38Making sure, because if you're not recovered, then you're at a disadvantage.
05:41Well, you have longevity that's added on to you by making sure that your body's
05:45taken care of and it's properly rested and properly healed, because it's
05:50unforgiving, you know, they always say you got a bump meter and you only have
05:54so many before it's the end, right?
05:56And if you're not, if you're not taking care of it, you know, it's not,
06:01you're not going to last very long.
06:02So let's move on just a little bit.
06:05We noticed back in July and in August, you had a feud with Gustavo.
06:10What is the source of that feud?
06:12Why do you care about dancing and professional wrestling?
06:15And my God, you're setting yourself up to be a heel here over it.
06:19Everybody loves the dancing.
06:21First of all, heel, baby, perspective.
06:24Like I said, perspective.
06:25Some people I come in, I tell them, commit to the routine.
06:27I am what a real athlete is supposed to look like.
06:29And they agree because they're smart.
06:31Some people, they see me as a heel or a bad guy because I'm telling them or
06:36reminding them what they can see with their own eyes that I'm in better shape than them.
06:40But Gustavo, like I talked about, everyone's got their routine.
06:42Their pregame regimen, what they do to prepare to wrestle.
06:47That's Gustavo's thing is he dances to just the God awful song by the most.
06:52If you've heard it, you know what I'm talking about.
06:53Yes. And he wastes time.
06:55I mean, that's I don't know what the rule is by what what the
07:00time you have to get from the entrance ramp to the ring.
07:04But if you're to delay a game in football, I mean, Gustavo,
07:08every time I wrestle them, he should have received a delay of game penalty.
07:12I was prepared for my match to start at a certain time.
07:14Gustavo delays the game by going to dance in the crowd and dance.
07:19Find find some girl to give a rose to that.
07:22That's time right there that is taken away from the warm up
07:24that I had specifically to start at a certain time.
07:28So that right off the bat is cheating.
07:30And I mean, it just doesn't belong in wrestling right there.
07:33Well, you know, I mean, it just I get frustrated with Gustavo
07:37because he continued to dance, even though he knew the first time.
07:40First two times he pinned me, my shoulders weren't down.
07:44So for him to gloat in my face like that, I would never do that to him.
07:47I would never do anything like that.
07:49Well, you got to think about it like this.
07:51Is he getting in your head by dancing and taking the time
07:55before he gets in there?
07:56Because by getting in your head, that gives him the advantage
07:59in every match that you have against him.
08:02Trust me, I am too.
08:03I am too focused, too locked in for a godawful song.
08:08I mean, just don't get me wrong.
08:09Gustavo is a heck of like he is very talented and very athletic.
08:13And if he wanted to go, I mean, he could pick it, pick a side.
08:17If he wants to go be a dancer, he's a phenomenal dancer.
08:20He's also a phenomenal wrestler.
08:22But they don't go together. You get it?
08:24Yes, sir. Yes, sir. They don't go together.
08:25So pick one or the other.
08:27Regardless, either one.
08:28He's a superstar.
08:30He deserves all the credit in the world.
08:32He is going to be a name that people know
08:35for a long, long time.
08:36And everyone in Tennessee already knows him.
08:38Everyone. He's probably one of the most popular guys in Tennessee.
08:42But. Gustavo, just make a decision, man.
08:46We have a fan that says, do you want him to give you a rose as a truce?
08:52What would I do with that rose?
08:54No. Not even close.
08:56He doesn't know what he wants to do with it. That's right.
08:58I wouldn't take that rose either, Tyler, just to be honest with you.
09:01Let's move on a little bit.
09:03Now, we saw you at JCP here recently, and you're facing
09:07none other than the prince of professional wrestling, Mr.
09:09Drew Hood himself.
09:11Now, the prince is definitely something great,
09:14but you did something more phenomenal there.
09:17He is he is second to none with what you did.
09:19You beat him inside the ring. One, two, three.
09:22One of the toughest, most charismatic in ring performers, Drew Hood, by the way.
09:26Now the charismatic Clydesdale, as he likes to call himself,
09:29has a rematch for that JCP Openweight Championship.
09:33Do you have any words for him, sir?
09:35Well, that is news to me right there.
09:36The Drew Hood has a rematch to my NWA JCP Openweight Championship.
09:41But I'm glad that he feels he has.
09:43He's obligated to that rematch because Drew Hood is a heck of a talent,
09:46a guy that I have seen now for a long time, who I also believe
09:49you're going to be hearing about for a very long time on your television screen.
09:53And he's a heck of a talent in the ring, too.
09:55He's got some size.
09:57He works very hard.
09:58And I mean, he thinks he's a little bit more charismatic.
10:03I don't know who he thought he was trying to pull the ring announcer to
10:07say something about him instead of the man that everyone came to see in that ring.
10:11But Drew Hood's a heck of a guy and a heck of a talent.
10:14And if he thinks he's got an open
10:16openweight rematch next JCP show, I'm not sure it's been made officially yet.
10:21But I would love to see if he's trained any bit any harder than he did the last time.
10:27Well, that's absolutely a great thing for him and a great thing for you as well.
10:31You're open to all challengers for that openweight championship.
10:36So that's something that we haven't seen in the past.
10:39It was like pulling teeth to get him to defend it.
10:42And it looks like you're going to be a fighting champion now.
10:44I said he got up.
10:45He went back to his hood and never defended it since.
10:49I think you were the second challenger that he defended it in over a year.
10:54So that should tell you something right there.
10:57Let's move on a little bit.
10:58We know that there's beef between you and the stew crew at SPCW.
11:03Is there anyone else on your heat radar that we should know about
11:06that you would like to, let's say, Max Abel or anybody like that?
11:12I don't even want to say Max Abel.
11:13I will before I don't even heat my I'm trying to think of my heat radar.
11:19Well, the stew crew, obviously,
11:21they've I don't want to even say heat heat radar for them
11:23because I'm starting to kind of see some of the points they're making.
11:26And we'll get we can get to that in another day.
11:28Stew crew, heck of a talents, two guys that I told anyone
11:31who would listen to for the last year, year and a half.
11:34They've been on more shows with me than I've been anyone else I've met in wrestling.
11:38Those are another two names that are going to be taken over
11:41the tag team world very, very soon.
11:44But Max Abel, he was my spotter for almost a year
11:47until he got a little too big for his britches, big red britches
11:52and decided to pull a fast one and against Weaver in the pain back in SBCW.
11:58And earlier in the year, he tried to pull a fast one
12:00when we were celebrating on New Year's.
12:02Tried to put me out for a longer time than he did back in May.
12:07But I do want to say something about Max Abel after stepping in the ring with him,
12:11after being contractually obligated to work with him in other promotions since then.
12:17I have a lot of respect for him.
12:18And as a spotter, as a guy who just kind of was always there for me outside the ring,
12:24as he's been there for me as a tag team partner,
12:26he works his butt off to be to earn every single opportunity he gets.
12:30And for a while I pushed him because I didn't think he had it.
12:32I didn't I don't really know if I thought he had it in him.
12:35But but I've seen him.
12:36I've seen him push and I've seen him do a lot of the right things,
12:39although he screws up.
12:40He screws up a lot.
12:41But he does work.
12:42He does make up for it with his work ethic and his his drive to be great.
12:46So I'll give it to Max Abel for sure.
12:48You've hit something right there with Max Abel.
12:50And we've noticed it, too.
12:51We've noticed him at NWACP events.
12:54We've noticed it at SPCW events.
12:55We noticed him at Crossfire events.
12:57The man works his tail off everywhere that he goes.
13:01And I think in the future, Mr.
13:04Shoup, that would be somebody that you might have to look out for
13:08because of his work ethic.
13:10I totally agree with that.
13:12I mean, when I wrestled him at SPCW, he pushed me to my limit.
13:16It took tons.
13:17It took a big, huge missile drop kick off the top rope
13:19to finally get him off his feet.
13:22I'm not an idiot.
13:23I got Joe Briggs this Saturday at SPCW.
13:26Max Abel is going to be in that locker room somewhere.
13:29The Stu crew have been jumping me from behind any opportunity they can get.
13:35One member of the unit is going to be there and he's going to be defending
13:38his SPCW Junior Heavyweight Championship, Johnny Polk, which I don't know how.
13:43I digress, but I don't know how KC Kazan has a junior heavyweight.
13:46It's not relevant to this, but they must have stretched the division a little bit.
13:51Back to my point,
13:52KC Kazan is going to be there, one third of the unit.
13:55I'm another third of the unit.
13:56Max Abel was the third part of the unit right there.
14:00The numbers, the numbers still don't add up, but just me and KC
14:03going up against the Stu's and Joe Briggs and
14:06Rebecca is going to be out there with them, so.
14:09Max Abel could really do right this weekend.
14:11He could do right going forward if if he makes the right decision
14:14to step up if I need some help.
14:17So I'm not going to be afraid to ask my old spotter for a spot.
14:22I'm extremely glad that you brought this up because we noticed you gave up
14:25your SPCW America Championship for what some might consider
14:29to be the chance of a lifetime.
14:31A shot at the heavyweight championship of SPCW against one
14:35Doctor of Destruction, Joe Briggs, September 7th in just a few days.
14:39What are your thoughts going into this?
14:43It was a very tough decision because that was my first real.
14:49Meaningful championship in wrestling
14:51that I felt like I truly deserved and truly earned.
14:54So I defended that very proudly against NWA
14:59superstars, ton of good, great talent at SPCW.
15:03And I had a
15:06clause in my contract that said if I defended it so many times
15:09that I could challenge for the SPCW heavyweight championship.
15:12And in addition to proudly defending that American championship,
15:15all I've been saying is I'm trying to make SPCW some of the most respected
15:19and best wrestling in the Southeast.
15:20And I truly believe we have such a young, talented roster that we could do that.
15:25But in order to do that, you got to do it the right way and the right man.
15:28And I have to be the top guy there to set the example,
15:33lead by example and encourage others to commit to the routine and train harder
15:37so we can truly be the best wrestling and the hardest working wrestlers
15:41in the Southeast.
15:42And to do that, I have to beat Joe Briggs this Saturday night
15:45and have to be able to handle whatever he's going to throw it at me.
15:48If I got to jump through hoops, if I got to go through the Stu crew,
15:50I know Rebecca is going to be out there.
15:51I'm not not a fool of face Joe Briggs one on one before I face them
15:55in tag team action before.
15:56So I know it's coming at me.
15:57It's not going to be easy, but I've I've been training harder for this one.
16:01I missed the last SPCW show because I was preparing for this one.
16:05Well, we're a house divided, Mr.
16:07Sheep, I'm just going to let you know right now, she loves the doctor
16:09of destruction, Joe Briggs.
16:11I'm a fan of his as well, but I'm not as big of a fan of his as I am of yours.
16:16And I hope, sir, that you are able to put one more on your notch
16:20and grab that belt this this coming Saturday.
16:23I mean, I really hope you're able to.
16:26I mean, it's and that's going to be a huge opportunity.
16:28I've been looking forward to this one for a while since I got there to live.
16:32We are going to be taking some footage.
16:34We're going to be taking some videos of you guys.
16:36And we want to let you know right now that the house divided will be there.
16:40One of us will be shooting for you and one of us will be shooting
16:43for the doctor of destruction.
16:45But we're going to have fun, guys.
16:47I just want to hear you guys out there for sure.
16:49I appreciate you guys always.
16:50No problem, Mr.
16:52Shoop. Let's talk about your upcoming bookings.
16:55Where can the fans expect to see you next?
16:58What what do you know about the pricing and the time zones of each of it?
17:02I got some big opportunities coming out.
17:05I'm just going to stick to September because my September is honestly
17:08kind of loaded right now with some new promotions that I'm working for,
17:11some old ones that I'll be returning to and some big.
17:14I mean, every opportunity is a big opportunity.
17:16So this weekend, like we just mentioned, just got done talking about
17:20I'll be at SPCW off the top.
17:23I can't remember tickets right off the top of my head for some of these places.
17:26So I'm just going to kind of estimate here.
17:28I think kids are about five dollars.
17:31I think it's about 15 dollars for general admission,
17:33but I don't want to butcher all that.
17:34So I might I forgot to all that.
17:37SPCW will be taking on Joe Briggs, challenging for the SPCW
17:40American Championship.
17:41Been training very hard for that one.
17:43Looking forward to that opportunity.
17:45As I mentioned earlier, the following weekend, I'll be back in Nashville,
17:49Tennessee at the Nashville Fairgrounds Arena, the famous
17:52Nashville Fairgrounds Arena, very historic,
17:55iconic and professional wrestling, a place that I've had on my list
17:58that I really want to wrestle for a long time.
18:00I'll be working with pro wrestling entertainment.
18:02Once again, we talked about them earlier.
18:04Awesome promotion.
18:05Always have a great show.
18:06Always a ton of talent that you're going to be seeing on your television
18:09for a long time.
18:11Always have a great audience.
18:12Tons of energy going to be very fun in the Nashville Fairgrounds Arena.
18:16Following week, I'll be in Memphis making my Memphis debut on Tuesday.
18:21I'm very excited for that as well.
18:23Just a fan of just territory wrestling.
18:25Just thinking about getting an opportunity to wrestle in Memphis territory.
18:29I'll be making my debut for
18:31Pine City or Bluff City Wrestling
18:34in a tournament for their new championship there.
18:37They're kind of going through a revamp and they're going with new champions,
18:40kind of a new feel for the entire promotion, entire brand.
18:43So it's a huge opportunity.
18:45And I appreciate them giving me the chance to compete for their first title
18:48in a tournament against some of the best talent out in Tennessee.
18:51And the Kazana Brothers will be there as well.
18:53So there's a few more names all across scattered across Tennessee
18:56that will be there competing.
18:58After that, September 20th, back in Nashville, Tennessee.
19:03CCW, Coastal Championship Wrestling, they're the last territory.
19:08Most of the a lot of large portion of their shows are ran in Florida,
19:12but every month they run a show in the Texas Troubadour Theater in Nashville.
19:16It's where we wrestled last week, last month for NWA JCP.
19:19Heck of a show, heck of an environment for wrestling.
19:22Tons of energy in there.
19:23That those two times I've wrestled there now against Alex Taylor
19:27for the NWA World's Junior Heavyweight Championship.
19:29And then a few weeks ago against Dylan McQueen for CCW,
19:32two of the most electric audiences I've been in front of.
19:35And I just cannot wait to get back in there.
19:37I haven't received my opponent yet for CCW,
19:40but definitely looking forward to getting to that show.
19:44The following night, hopefully, is my first night as the SBCW
19:48champion defending at the SBCW Sportatorium.
19:50That'd be September 21st.
19:52I got a big night there.
19:54I'm not sure what I'll be doing.
19:55Obviously, my expectation is to walk into that building as the champion
19:59and defend that against whoever management brings to me.
20:02And then at the end of the month, rounding it up,
20:04I'll make my return down to Savannah, Georgia.
20:07Coastal Empire Wrestling.
20:10Awesome promotion.
20:11Awesome company down there that I've wrestled once before
20:14and was actually cheated out of a victory there by Chad Skywalker.
20:17He had a loaded glove.
20:19I don't really want to talk about that.
20:20Thanks for bringing it up.
20:22But yeah, that's a great show.
20:24If you got any listeners down in Georgia,
20:26check out Coastal Empire Wrestling.

22:08to commit to the routine and Shrain Haida,
