00:00James to the rescue. James is a bright red engine. He is very proud of his polished paintwork, his tidy tender and his bubbling boiler.
00:17James thinks he is one of the most special engines on the Fat Controller's railway.
00:25One morning James puffed proudly into the Sodor Search and Rescue Centre. He glowed grandly.
00:34Good morning. Today the Fat Controller has asked me to be the Sodor Island Rescue Engine. I am to wait for the call to action.
00:46Percy was puzzled.
00:48What's a call to act on, Thomas?
00:51Thomas smiled at his best friend.
00:54A call to action is when James is told he has to go and rescue an engine.
01:00It is the call, Percy, for me to be a hero.
01:04Percy wheezed with wonder, James puffed with pride and Toby trundled in. Toby beamed from buffer to buffer.
01:15Hello, James. The Fat Controller has asked me to be a rescue engine with you.
01:21James gasped.
01:23Why?
01:25You might need my help.
01:27James shuddered and juddered.
01:29I will not need your help. Thank you, Toby.
01:33Then the Rescue Centre manager wore quickly from his office.
01:38Gordon has hit broken track crossing the Fenland. James and Toby, you must chuff right away to rescue him.
01:46James pumped his pistons, his wheels whirred.
01:50Wait for me, James. Gordon's a big engine. You'll need my help to rescue him.
01:57James steamed snootily.
01:59Toby, Sodor rescue engines are steam engines. You are a steam tram. Steam trams can't be rescue engines.
02:12Toby blinked. Thomas was crossed.
02:16Toby can be a rescue tram. He'll be the best on Sodor.
02:20But James wasn't listening. He whooshed away with a huff and a puff while Toby rattled and rocked behind.
02:30James steamed slowly as the children cheered.
02:36I'm the rescue engine on Sodor for the day. I'm a very busy engine. Stand back, watch out, make way.
02:49James wheeshed up to Gordon. Gordon's front wheels were off the track.
02:56Rescue engine to the ready. I'll pull you back on track in no time.
03:02Toby's bell jingled and jangled.
03:05Excuse me, James. I don't think that's a good idea. Gordon is too heavy. I'll go and fetch Rocky.
03:14James snorted and sniffed.
03:17I will rescue Gordon. I will not need help. Thank you, Toby.
03:24So James was coupled up to Gordon.
03:27James heaved and James hauled. He huffed and he puffed.
03:33His face went as red as his paintwork.
03:36Nearly there, Gordon.
03:39Gordon shuddered and juddered. Gordon's driving wheels fell off the track.
03:46Oh, the indignity.
03:51Excuse me, James. I think we need Rocky.
03:56No, thank you, Toby. I shall puff around to shunt Gordon back on the tracks.
04:05On the way back to Gordon, children cheered James and Toby. James' firebox fizzed and whizzed.
04:15I'm the rescue engine on Sodor for the day. I'm a very busy engine. Stand back. Watch out. Make way.
04:26Bye!
04:28James and Toby chuffed in behind Gordon.
04:33Rescue engine to the ready!
04:36Gordon grunted grumpily.
04:40Excuse me, James. I think Rocky...
04:44No, thank you, Toby. I do not need Rocky's help.
04:50James buffered up behind Gordon.
04:53James shoved and James shunted. He huffed and he puffed. His cheeks went as red as his paintwork.
05:03Nearly there, Gordon.
05:06Then there was trouble. The track creaked and crumbled. Then it cracked.
05:14Gordon groaned.
05:16Oh, the indignity.
05:19Toby's bell jingled and jangled.
05:22I don't want to be a bother, James, but I think it's time for Rocky.
05:29No, thank you, Toby. I am the rescue engine and I have a plan.
05:37Very good, James.
05:39What we need is speed and spin. Back up and watch the rescue.
05:45So James backed up. Toby backed up. And Gordon waited.
05:52Then James pumped his pistons, his boiler bubbled and his firebox fizzed.
05:59Rescue engine to the ready!
06:02James roared and raced down the track. He hit Gordon's buffer with a biff and a bash and a terrible smash.
06:12Gordon the Grand had toppled off the track into the muddy fen.
06:17And James the rescue engine had splished and sploshed into the mud after him.
06:23Oh, the indignity.
06:26Oh, my paintwork.
06:29James felt terrible.
06:31I am not a rescue engine. I am not a hero. I am not the brightest red engine on Sodor.
06:42I am the silliest and muddiest engine.
06:47Toby chuffed over carefully.
06:52Excuse me, can I help, James?
06:56Yes, Toby. I need your help. Please go and fetch Rocky.
07:03Happy to help, James.
07:06Thomas was happy to help Toby. Together they pushed and pulled Rocky to the fenland.
07:15Rocky lifted Gordon and James out of the mud and back on track.
07:22Happy to help, James.
07:25Thank you, Rocky. I still feel very silly, but even silly engines have to be really useful rescue engines.
07:34Puff along with me, Toby. I need your help.
07:38Together James and Toby were fine rescue engines.
07:43They shunted and pulled Charlie to the water tower.
07:46Rescue engines to the ready!
07:49They brought diesel oil to Mavis when she had run out.
07:53Rescue engines to the ready!
07:56And they pushed Percy to the steamworks when his traction rods rattled.
08:02Rescue engines to the ready!
08:05At last, at the end of a long day, James and Toby clickety clacked along the track into the Sodor Search and Rescue Centre.
08:17We're the rescue engines on Sodor for the day!
08:22We're very busy engines. Stand back, watch out, make way!
08:28I hear you two have been busy.
08:32Yes, sir!
08:34Thank you for sending Toby to help me, sir.
08:37He is the best rescue tram on the whole of Sodor.
