00:07James is a bright red engine.
00:11He always likes to look his best,
00:15to do his best,
00:19and to show other engines he knows best too.
00:25It was winter on the island of Sodor.
00:28Thomas, Stanley and James were working at the yards.
00:33They were shunting trains to take to Great Waterton.
00:37They had to arrive on time.
00:40Stanley watched James shunting his trucks.
00:43They wiggled and giggled.
00:45James quickly biffed and bashed his trucks into line.
00:50You're the best biffer I've ever seen.
00:53Hey, that was nothing.
00:55See how easily I can shunt heavy Hector.
01:00James collected Hector.
01:03Stanley watched as James shunted Hector to the back of his train.
01:10Snow started to fall.
01:16I'm ready to leave.
01:19I'll see you both at Great Waterton.
01:21It's starting to snow, James.
01:24You should check the weather with the yard manager.
01:27James didn't want to be told what to do by a truck,
01:31especially in front of Thomas and Stanley.
01:34I'll decide what we do.
01:36The weather doesn't bother me.
01:39So James buffered up to his train
01:43and steamed slowly out of the yards.
01:50James puffed through the countryside.
01:55The snow was getting heavier.
02:01James stopped at a signal.
02:04Harold swooshed in.
02:07There's bad weather all over the island.
02:10It's very hard to see the tracks.
02:12Then we better go through Henry's Tunnel.
02:15James sniffed.
02:17He didn't want to be told what to do by a truck,
02:20especially in front of Harold.
02:22I'll decide what we do.
02:24We'll take the track through Shen Valley.
02:27It's the quickest way.
02:29The signal changed and James puffed away,
02:33pushing his train.
02:40James arrived at the Shen Valley junction.
02:44Now the snow was very thick.
02:47It made it hard for James to see ahead.
02:51James puffed on to the wrong track.
02:55James thought he was steaming through Shen Valley,
02:58but he wasn't.
03:00He was steaming towards the snowy hills.
03:07James saw Edward in a siding.
03:11He was wearing his snowplough.
03:14The ice has made the line ahead very slippery.
03:17It will be hard to shunt your train up the hill.
03:20James was surprised he was in the hills.
03:23I must have taken the wrong track, he thought.
03:26I've had to clear snow from lots of lines.
03:30James was worried.
03:33We need Edward's help.
03:35He could couple up to the front of the train.
03:38But James didn't want to be told what to do by a truck,
03:42especially in front of Edward.
03:44I'll decide what we do.
03:47I can manage on my own.
03:49So James puffed slowly towards the hill.
03:57James huffed and puffed.
04:00He steamed and strained.
04:03His face was now as red as his boiler.
04:07James arrived at the top of the hill.
04:11He was very pleased.
04:13Now I can puff fast down the other side, he thought.
04:17Then there was trouble.
04:20Hector could see a snowslide had blocked the line.
04:23Hector knew that if James slowed down at the bottom,
04:26they would get stuck in the drift.
04:29Onwards, onwards, don't slow down!
04:33But James didn't want to be told what to do,
04:37especially by a truck.
04:39I'll decide what we do, he huffed to himself.
04:43So James applied his brakes.
04:46The train smashed straight into the snow.
04:51And it stuck.
04:53James couldn't make his delivery.
04:56He felt very bad.
04:58James is silly, James is slow.
05:02James has got us stuck in snow.
05:04James wished he had checked with the yard manager about the weather.
05:08He wished he hadn't tried to find his way through Shen Valley.
05:12And he wished he had asked Edward to be his front engine.
05:16I know Hector was trying to help me.
05:19The trucks giggled.
05:21Quiet!
05:23Please Hector, how can I deliver my train on time?
05:27Hector was happy to help.
05:29I'm a very heavy truck.
05:31We must race down the hill at full speed,
05:34then we will biff the train right through the snow.
05:38What a good idea!
05:42So Hector was uncoupled from the train.
05:46James wheezed and wheezed.
05:51At last, he had hauled Hector back to the top of the hill.
05:58Go, James, go!
06:01Hector and James raced faster and faster down the hill.
06:05There was a mighty biff,
06:07and Hector pushed the train right through the snow.

06:50Hector was happy to be a good truck,
06:53and James was happy to have a new friend.
