00:00It's a Patriots Friday, and this week's Cross Insurance Player Spotlight is on Jacoby Brissett,
00:09your starting quarterback.
00:11As you would expect it to be, Cross Insurance, official insurance broker of the New England
00:16Patriots.
00:17Wiggy, I would ask you to try to, if you could, turn away from the anger and the bitterness
00:26and the disgust and the disappointment that you and Chime and the rest of the Drake Mayors
00:36have.
00:37And tell me whether or not Jacoby Brissett can be the guy to get this team up over that
00:45four and a half over total when it comes to wins this season.
00:50I don't think so.
00:51I think you're going to get what you, what we've seen, what Jacoby Brissett is, a quarterback
00:57in this league when he's gotten his opportunity, you know, not very good.
01:02We know he's not very mobile.
01:04I think if anything, Alex Van Peltz, you're going to see as basic of an offense, it might
01:11even be more basic than last year, meaning run the football, run the football, just basic
01:18short passes, all things that Drake May could do.
01:22But you know, if I'm looking at this offense with Brissett, what is he going to give you?
01:28It's not going to be much.
01:29And it's really going to be about how this defense performs.
01:32If this defense doesn't perform well, and I know Andy Hart said this in the afternoon
01:37show and they might not win a game.
01:45I think it's a, I think it's a very, I think it's a very likely possibility, man.
01:52I mean, I don't know why when you say that people go, wait a minute, I, they are, they're
01:57underdogs in every single game wiggy, right?
02:00But we always go like, all right, the defense will steal one.
02:03But if they don't, you would say that when Bill Belichick was your head coach, like,
02:08I mean, I, I mean, it's going to be tough.
02:14It's going to be tough.
02:16I just look to, let me see, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
02:23They could be 0 and 8 by the time they play the Titans.
02:28I don't know.
02:29It's, it's very disappointing because at least when you have a guy and this is what I'm looking
02:36for and I, and I, and people just don't get it.
02:39At least when you have a guy like Drake May playing, like if I was a Jets fan, I would,
02:43I would cling on to some of the good games that Zach Wilson played as a rookie, right?
02:50That's what you try to do.
02:51You say, oh, wow.
02:52You know, we even like saw that we're like, ah, well, you know why he made, I had a great
02:55game against Buffalo.
02:56I forget who it was.
02:58Is that who we could potentially be?
03:01And that's what you can kind of hang your hat on.
03:03If you're watching Drake May, this, his rookie year say like, oh, okay, he pops doing this.
03:09That looked good.
03:10He could be that.
03:11I mean, if you take just the division alone and I've been, I've been somewhat high, not
03:18like your high, but my high on the Jets.
03:21But then yesterday there was that re report by an anonymous agent that said the Jets are
03:29in complete disarray.
03:31Use the word disarray.
03:32That's coming from a player who's sitting on the bench, but go ahead.
03:35Well, it's agents, but it's where do you think the age is getting it from?
03:39I mean, his player that's sitting on the bench, you know how Aaron Rodgers is like,
03:44I mean, he's a dink.
03:46He is a dink.
03:48And you know that Robert Sala is somebody whose job has been in jeopardy for the last
03:54couple of seasons.
03:56That is true.
03:57I mean, maybe you get one here against the Jets.
04:03I don't think you're going to beat Buffalo.
04:05I don't know about Miami.
04:06Like now Tua, by the way, is a guy who sat behind Ryan Fitzmagic for a considerable amount
04:15of games, like seven, eight, nine games that he did, that made him a better quarterback.
04:20So for those that are arguing in the other direction, that is a point in their favor.
04:25Yeah, I would give him that, but at least Ryan Fitzpatrick, that's not Jordan Love sitting
04:31behind Aaron Rodgers, but at least Fitzpatrick one year in his career, I think he went 10
04:35and six as a starter and you could go, oh, okay.
04:38Like he showed a little bit, but also the head coach didn't want to draft Tua.
04:42Like they brought in an offensive coordinator to design an offense specifically for Fitzpatrick,
04:46not for Tua.
04:47And then when I look at Aaron Rodgers, early in his career, there was a coach that was
04:52yelling at him loudly.
04:53Yeah, the same coach that didn't want him.
04:55That's probably why he was yelling at him.
04:57Very, very loudly.
04:58And then when I look at Aaron Rodgers, sometimes in a mean way too, also, when I look at Aaron
05:05Rodgers with the dysfunction, I know this about Aaron Rodgers as a starter in the NFL,
05:10he's 148 and 75.
05:12So with him as your starting quarterback and a good football team, the likelihood is that
05:19they're probably going to be pretty good.
05:21I'm not saying they're going to win a Superbowl, but I don't, I think this team, if Rodgers
05:26is healthy, they're going to be a playoff team.
05:29You got the division.
05:30We know about Buffalo.
05:32They're a good football team.
05:33They have a good quarterback.
05:34Miami's a good football team.
05:36When you start to look at the Patriots and just, and I, like I said, I know Andy Hart
05:40said this, that he thinks that they could not win a game all year long.
05:44And I know you just brought up they are underdogs in every game.
05:47If the defense isn't what we expect them to be, a top 10 defense, I just don't know, like
05:58everybody knows I'm not a Mac Jones guy.
06:04Matt Jones is a better quarterback than Joe Kobe Brissett.
06:06Here we go.
06:07Yeah.
06:08No, no, no.
06:09So what?
06:10When was the last time Brissett was a starter for a season?
06:14I think 2019 for the season games last year.
06:17Yeah.
06:18But I'm saying like where he was the start of the season, he was a starter.
06:21I would say the Colts, 2019.
06:24So like we should go back and see like how many wins did Jacoby Brissett get those teams?
06:28His best year was seven and nine as a starter.
06:31That was it.
06:32How was the team around him?
06:33Uh, good.
06:34Cause that's what I say.
06:35That was right.
06:36Was that right?
06:37After Andrew Luck?
06:38Yeah.
06:39Yeah.
06:40It was a good football team, but you got seven wins as a starter when you had a pretty good
06:42team around.
06:43I know.
06:44So here he was that year.
06:45Jacoby Brissett.
06:46It was the 2019 season.
06:47Season.
06:48I know you guys talked about it.
06:49He went seven, seven and eight as a starter.
06:52He threw 18 touchdowns and had six interceptions.
06:57The only difference is that I don't think that Jacoby Brissett is going to turn people
07:00off.
07:01I don't think he's going to turn off other players in the locker room because I think
07:04he's a very likable guy.
07:05So he has the advantage over Mac there.
07:07Yeah.
07:08But the losing games could make players turn away pretty quickly.
07:12And the season prior to that, the 2018 season that you guys brought it up, they were 10
07:17and six.
07:18Um, and let's see, they lost in the divisional round to the Kansas city chiefs led by Alex
07:27Smith.
07:28Courtney makes a good point though, about players and the, the respect or the lack of
07:35respect when it comes to a quarterback, what do you think the guys that are on this team,
07:40who do you think they want to be the starter week one?
07:45I would think that the guys on this team deep down inside probably want Drake may to be
07:50a starter because they give him the best chance of winning from what we've heard though.
07:54Like Courtney, but that's what guys are not going to go.
07:57I'm not saying that they should do that, but I think that they've been almost over complimentary
08:02of Jacoby.
08:03Let me ask you this question.
08:04Who do you think gives them the best chance of, I think Drake may.
08:08So you don't think guys see that?
08:09I just think that sometimes, I don't know.
08:12Do you think guys, if you can see that and you're just an average spectator, who's watching
08:18from her coach spectator, but I'm saying watching from her coach, sir, you don't think the guys
08:25that are in the locker room see the same thing that I just don't know why the narrative
08:31that they've been, you know, bringing to the media has been overly complimentary.
08:36He's a nice guy.
08:38I think that it's more.
08:39So he's a vet.
08:40A lot of these guys maybe are chummy with him, friends with him, and he's just a nice
08:44guy.
08:45So guys do, unless you're a guy that's really, you know, like people don't like you, they're
08:49not going to criticize you in public.
08:51I'm going to say he's a good guy.
08:53He's a veteran.
08:54He's been around.
08:55So when you look at this team and you start to say who gives them regardless of everything
09:00else, the old line, not being very good, your wide receiver is still trying to figure out
09:05who they are.
09:06If you ask any person that has, that just has a functional brain at a third grade level
09:14and says, Hey, who gives this team the best chance of winning Brissett or me?
09:21I would say 99.9% of the people would say, well, because you know what Jacoby Brissett
09:29is or unfortunately, or unfortunately isn't bingo.
09:33You don't know what Drake may is, right?
09:35You've seen glimpses of it, right?
09:37And if you watch him all season long, he might look real bad at times.
09:41He might look like Zach Wilson, but after the first year there was some, I bet jets
09:46fans go, Oh, this kid has potential.
09:48We just need to do X, Y, and Z around them.
