Fine weather to end the week. Largely dry and clear through Friday night, except in the south-east where it will become cloudier and windier with the chance of a few showers by dawn. It will be a cool night under any clear skies. Perhaps some mist and fog patches forming, though these should be quick to clear come Saturday morning. - This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the evening of 30/08/24. 00:00Hello, very good evening to you. Lots of fine weather around at the moment, a quiet end
00:04to the week, but there are some thunderstorms on the cards as we go through this weekend.
00:09The fine weather at the moment is due to this area of high pressure, but as that shifts
00:13a little bit further north and eastwards, it will allow for some of the thunderstorms
00:17across parts of France to push their way northwards, and these are going to become a little bit
00:21more widespread as we go through the weekend and could cause some localised impacts. Back
00:26to the here and now though, and across the UK tonight, a largely dry and clear story,
00:30apart from in the southeast where we are going to see a bit of cloud pushing its way in,
00:34the winds picking up a little bit maybe, and maybe one or two showers arriving by dawn
00:38as well. Otherwise, where we see the skies clear, it will be another cool night, perhaps
00:43for many of us temperatures a little bit higher than last night, but across some parts of
00:47Scotland the sheltered glens could drop to low to mid single figures. And do watch out
00:52as there could be some patches of mist and fog forming, although these should clear pretty
00:57quickly tomorrow morning with some decent strength behind the sun. As we go through
01:01tomorrow morning then, a bit more cloud across parts of the southeast, this will become a
01:05bit more widespread maybe across southern areas as we go through the day, and there
01:08is the potential for some showers to kick off. They will be fairly isolated, you'd be
01:13unlucky to catch one, but if they do develop, they could pack quite a punch, could be some
01:18heavy ones, maybe even some rumbles of thunder mixed in too. Elsewhere and further north,
01:23kind of everywhere north of the M4 corridor really, it's going to stay pretty sunny. Lots
01:27of sunshine around, staying dry, and in that sunshine feeling pretty warm indeed. Temperatures
01:32only around average, maybe a little bit above for some of us, but generally peaking in the
01:36low 20s, perhaps even mid 20s towards the south. More fine weather to come for many
01:42of us as we go through the end of the day on Saturday, but further south we are going
01:46to see more showers coming up and they are going to become a little bit more widespread
01:51overnight and there will be a bit more cloud than through this coming night because of
01:55the cloudier skies and some increased humidity to the air. Temperatures won't drop as much.
02:01It is going to be a warmer night for many of us, especially in the south, southeast.
02:05Here it is going to be perhaps uncomfortably warm for some. And then tomorrow, yes, a warm
02:10start, some bright sunny skies for some places, but also a bit more cloud than through Saturday
02:15morning and then we do have the risk of some showers. Perhaps the greatest risk will be
02:19down the eastern side of the UK, but even elsewhere, some heavy, possibly thundery showers
02:25are possible. And even at this relatively shortly time, there's not a huge amount of
02:30agreement as to where we're most likely to see the intense thunderstorms. So pretty much
02:35anywhere away from the far west at risk of seeing some. The reason why we're less likely
02:39to see some towards the west is because we have a front coming in and this is going to
02:44quieten things down in as much as stop those intense showers developing through Sunday,
02:48but it is going to bring some unsettled weather to start next week. Nonetheless, whilst I
02:53mentioned some humid air across the UK, it is going to make for a slightly more humid
02:58day on Sunday. And with that, a little bit warmer could even be quite hot for some towards
03:02the south. Temperatures ranging from high teens in the north to mid to high twenties
03:07towards the south. This front then that I mentioned in the west does make its way eastwards
03:11across into the UK as we go through Monday. So some unsettled weather to start next week.
03:17Some uncertainty as to how long this unsettled spell is going to last. We could see higher
03:21pressure building from the west, quieted things down, or the more unsettled theme could continue
03:26through large chunks of next week. But whatever you're up to, you'll make sure you want to
03:30stay up to date. And is your name on the list? Are you a Kayleigh or a Siyuri? Our names
03:36for the 2024-25 storm season are now out. And so why not check those out and see if
03:42anyone you know has made it on. I'll see you again soon. Bye bye.
