00:00Unbelievable that, uh, I have Stewie on Keith Stewart from, uh, read the line, the guru
00:09of golf. He already filed a protest, uh, that I was replacing Carver high on the double
00:17shot golf interview today. He's already filed that protest with the league office, but I'm
00:23going to do my best. Let's start with this. Uh, Keith, first of all, good to see you.
00:28And for fans, you can follow him. He's unbelievable betting on golf. I mean, this guy hits more
00:33golf tournaments than he does golf balls. Uh, you can follow him at KJ Stewart, PGA
00:38on X, and you can do that for free and he'll give you all of his glory and wisdom and picks
00:45and winners and not, not only golf tournament winners, but you know, top fives, top tens,
00:51first round leaders, you name it. And he does it on both tours. He'll do it on the lady's
00:57side, the men's side, hell he'll even do the live side. He does it all. Uh, so you
01:02had a co at the women's British open on Sunday at plus 2,500, you cash that ticket as well.
01:13You know, Scotty, uh, what an unbelievable introduction. Uh, next thing I know, I think
01:17you're going to ask me to the prom. That was fantastic. I love it. Um, Hey, if I don't
01:21pass out from this Atlanta heat, maybe it was Lydia co on Sunday, finishing that thing
01:26off over at St. Andrews in Scotland, our 10th outright at read the line for the year.
01:31We had Adam Scott in the afternoon. Unfortunately, his putter didn't get the memo. We didn't
01:36cash there, but Lydia co gave us number 10 at read the line. It's golf Wednesday. What
01:41do you need from me? Let me give it to you 10 outright wins this year is top shelf status.
01:50No one in golf has come close to 10 outright winners. It is crazy. And he's done all of
01:59it on sports grid, by the way, that was a really ballsy pick with Adam Scott and he's
02:06been playing great. I mean, he'd been playing great for, uh, a couple months now, the old
02:11guy with his long ass putter. Uh, where has this come from that he's having these types
02:17of rounds and finishes? Well, I'll tell you, you know, Adam, I know his manager very well,
02:23and I've spoken to him and coming into this season, he was trying to figure out, you know,
02:27how I'm going to get in all, he wasn't in all of the majors and he currently has the
02:30longest streak at 92 majors in a row. So he needed to find something to inspire him, to
02:36motivate him. And he really put the time in the off season and he came out hot and Q one,
02:41he had a bunch of top tens. We were talking about betting them in some different places.
02:45He got quiet in the middle of the season, but in the last six weeks, I mean, runner
02:49up in Scotland at the Genesis invitational, then a top 10 at Royal trune and the bad weather
02:54of the open championship right into the playoffs. You know, you're talking about golf courses
02:59where you really have to drive the golf ball well. And with that Tiger woods style golf
03:04swing from back in 2000, man, the prettiest man alive on a golf course, on the PGA tour,
03:09Adam Scott, he puts the ball in play off the T his iron game has come around and the broomstick
03:16has been good. Scotty, a lot. It just was only fair on, on Sunday, which is too bad.
03:21But captain Keegan is a great win. It's tough to root against them. I mean, I was rooting
03:26for Adam Scott at plus 5,500. I gotta be, you know, we gotta be honest, but at the end
03:30of the day, at least it wasn't, you know, one of these guys that wins all the time.
03:34It was captain Keegan. And I mean, who could be happier than the PGA of America selecting
03:38him as the Ryder cup captain. And this guy's going to play his way on to the president's
03:41cup squad. Yeah. Like how about the guy is the captain of the Ryder cup and he goes out
03:48and he's always been that East coast golfer, right? He's always tough in East coast tournaments,
03:54but the guy shows up and he waltzes out with 3.6 million in four days of work. I mean,
04:02he doesn't win that kind of money. It's been a long time since he's seen that kind of money.
04:06Well, you know what? He won the BMW back in Philly a couple of years ago, the same
04:11round of the playoffs. So maybe he likes BMWs. I don't know. But the fact is in Memphis,
04:17they cut from 70 players to 50 players in this playoff FedEx cup system, whatever you
04:21want to call it. He was, he was the 50th guy in Tom. Kim went bogey, double bogey, double
04:27bogey. He's out. I mean, all these guys dropped out of the top 50 Keegan gets in his number
04:3350. He was the last ranked guy going into Denver last week at castle castle Pines golf
04:40club. And the guy wins. It's an unbelievable story. Now, now all of a sudden he can win
04:45again this week. And we see this a lot in the playoffs, you know, over the years, 17
04:50years of the FedEx cup playoffs, 12 times, we've seen a repeat winner where a guy wins
04:54more than one of these playoff legs. And I tell you what, sitting in fourth place with
05:00this stupid staggered start start that they have with the strokes and everything, Keegan
05:04could take this thing all the way to Royal Montreal. And then, you know, he was an assistant
05:08captain on Jim Furyk's president's cup team that's happening next month. Now all of a
05:13sudden he's got to pick them and he probably needs to find another assistant captain. What
05:17an unbelievable story in golf.
05:20So what's the deal with Jay Monahan and the Saudis and all these negotiations like about
05:26a deal, is it going to happen or not?
05:30Well, Scotty, you know, timing is everything in life. And today was his state of the union
05:33address. This is supposed to be their Superbowl week. And Jay did a wonderful job of explaining
05:38absolutely nothing. He was asked very direct questions. And once again, you know, he went
05:44into the, he went into the pomp and circumstance of all of this, you know, Scotty, you asked
05:48me a question. I say, Scotty, it's a very thoughtful question. We are really concerned
05:52to what's happening with the schedule. We are really concerned with this, but I can't
05:56tell you anything. And I know what the players are fed up. I'm out here all the time. You
06:00know that I'm down in Atlanta right now. And the players just don't even pay attention
06:04anymore. But what I worry about are the fans. The fans have no idea what's going on. They're
06:10doing rinse, rewind, repeat on the same schedule as this year. The guys look tired at the end
06:15of the year. I mean, honestly, he had an opportunity today to say something really, really poignant
06:22and meaningful. And he didn't really say anything. And Hey, I'll pick it on Jay. It sounds like,
06:26but it's all the talking heads there. I don't understand why they aren't more transparent
06:30about why the PIF and that money could do so much for golf and what the path would be
06:35back for Bryson and everybody else. Everybody wants Bryson back. And you know what? They
06:40should do it real quick. Respectfully. I got 30 seconds. You told me about the course redesign
06:46at Eastlake. Can you tell people about that? Okay. Andrew green architect.
06:51He took the golf course from a par 70 Donald Ross layout. He's enhanced it. It's now a
06:56par 71. He added about 150 yards. The guys are raving about it. The only problem is,
07:02is that when you do this, when you remove all the grass and you put it back within 12
07:06months, the playing surfaces are super firm. And you're going to see that reflected in
07:10my betting card.
07:11I got to tell you that, uh, of course, Keith Stewart read the line. Badass. Uh, he's usually
07:18talking to Carver high about golf, but you know, I love golf too. At one point I was
07:22a six handicap, uh, Stewie and I, I played, I turned a 76 at the Bob Hope, uh, in Palm
07:31Springs and, uh, there were witnesses. I've also, uh, I've golfed in a million pro-ams
07:37back in the day when I lived in California, I golfed a lot, right? I played all the time
07:42I play. I played five or six days a week and I was a really good golfer when I live in
07:45New York city. I never golf. I never, I play basketball. I don't, I don't golf anymore.
07:51I went out and played a couple of courses. I turned an 85. I turned an 88. I can play.
07:56I can hit the ball, but my son now I told you has taken over the game. He loves playing.
08:02He plays every week. He plays all the time. He literally played the summer almost every
08:05day and he's getting better and better and better. And if you play every day and you
08:09live in Southern California, you can see your scores start dropping and turn yourself into
08:13a golfer. I think golfing is playing all the time and you're in hot town right now.
08:19It's hot as Haiti. It's a hundred degrees. It's going to be steamy ass morsels for the
08:24tour championship. How is that going to affect, uh, this tournament this weekend? I mean,
08:31it's just brutal heat. We saw it in, in Memphis. I saw them golf and then they were dying.
08:36Oh, I mean, I was there too. I mean, Carver on golf Wednesday, he had to resuscitate me.
08:42It was, it was so hot and it's equally as hot now. Like, you know, this tie it's, it's
08:47choking me out, but that's all right. I do it for the folks at sports grid. And here's
08:51what's going to happen. We are down at Eastlake golf club. It's the tour championship, 30
08:55players, and they start with strokes. I know it's something new and everything, but forget
08:59all that for a second. They've completely redone the golf course and with the heat and
09:03the humidity and redoing an entire golf course, removing all the grass and bringing it back.
09:08And what happens folks is that without any rain, it becomes a very, very firm surface.
09:13So what we're looking for this week, if you're building out your own betting card is you're
09:16looking for guys that can hit the fairway. Cause if you don't hit the fairway and you're
09:19in that Bermuda grass rough, you have no chance of holding these greens on approach. Once
09:23you're in the fairway, you're trying to hit these greens. Now the new greens, they are
09:27super, super firm. They are like a brick. So a lot of the even good shots are going
09:31to roll through the green. So as you build out those betting cards and you'll see by
09:34who I've picked that you had to have guys that have a little bit of acumen around the
09:39green. That's a fancy thing for saying, Hey, you got to save par or score with that short
09:43game. And this Bermuda grass, it's super grainy down here. It's a weed. You got to be able
09:47to putt on it, which is why I have two guys selected. Now there's two types of tournaments
09:51this week. The first one is the FedEx cup. That is the guy that wins everything $25 million
09:56for first. And that includes the starting strokes. I'm taking Xander shawfully for that.
10:00Yes, I know. I know I'm giving up two strokes to Scotty Sheffler, but his form, has it nearly
10:04been as strong as Xander and Xander loves this place. He's been here seven times and
10:09he's been the low gross player three times with a win. He's never finished worse than
10:13seven. You got to bank on him now on the other tournament, the shadow tournament, they call
10:18it where everyone starts at even par. There's two guys. I like Xander's one of them. I'm
10:22going there again. I am just pushing the chips in on him because he loves this place. And
10:27because with the firmness of the greens, he is the best scrambler in the world. He's still
10:31going to continue to score the other guy further down the board. Sam Bermuda burns
10:36plus 2200 back back in Minnesota in the 3m. He finishes 13th. Then all of a sudden he
10:43gets in the playoffs. St. Jude at the Hey Jude, he goes fifth place Bermuda grass greens,
10:49Bermuda burns cashes in make some birdies. Then last week in Denver, runner up out there
10:55at Castle Pines in the BMW guy runs off with an X seven. I mean, he's runner up. Fantastic.
11:01I love him coming into this place. He was fourth year last year. Those are my outright
11:04picks. All right. What about your top finisher picks? Top 10? Okay, I've got a couple top
11:1210s and everybody. Hey, Keith, why not? Top 10s and top 40s. There's only 30 guys playing.
11:16So pay attention. Ready? Top 10. I love Billy Horschel. He's great on Bermuda grass and
11:21he's trying to be a captain's pick for that President's Cup team coming up next month.
11:25He's got a great short game. And ever since he's got three top 10s in his last four starts
11:30and the other guy, Justin Thomas, don't forget about him. Seven starts here. He's never finished
11:34worse than night. So JT loves this place. He's also great putting on Bermuda grass and
11:39chipping around these new greens. I like those two guys. A couple quick head to heads because
11:44I know we're running short on time. The first one, Shane Lowery over to hit the gala. The
11:49gala is his right arms hurt a little bit. He's already qualified for the President's
11:52Cup team. He's got no reason to push himself this week. And the other guy, Xander over
11:56Scotty, the two big boys. They're facing up. Forget the gold medal. Forget the green jacket.
12:01Xander won the PGA. He won the Open Championship and he's winning the FedEx Cup. I thought
12:06I thought Horschel played great in Broon too. And that's kind of when he started playing
12:10really good golf. That's one of those three top 10s in his last four starts. Awesome.
12:15I like your guy. Bermuda burns at plus 2200.
