00:00We are back.
00:01Real Coast to Coast here on a Tuesday.
00:02It feels like a golf Wednesday because Keith Stewart from Read the Line is here with me.
00:07And I feel like next week for the Masters, I feel like me and Keith are going to need
00:11like an hour because I think that me and him could spend like half of that hour alone talking
00:18about what we were just saying with Rory and how it's, there is so much mental gymnastics
00:24that he goes through with this golf tournament, the Masters in Augusta, that like, will he
00:29ever actually win it?
00:30Like is it just too much on his brain with this thing?
00:34I don't know, Keith.
00:35Maybe you both just looked at each other and went, yeah, I don't know.
00:40You remember I brought this up last year, Mike, you know, he had caddy bib number 89.
00:44Now I always know how many players are in there because I have to do the power rankings
00:47for golf digest.
00:48There was 89 players last year.
00:49I go, he got the last caddy bib, which means he shows up on property last.
00:54Like he worked that hard last year to show up last to try to do something different than
00:58the year before.
00:59If you're thinking about it at that level, you're toast and not toasty.
01:02You are toast.
01:03I'm just saying.
01:04He played, he, he played Valero last year.
01:06Remember he played the week leading in, uh, in that golf tournament.
01:10Let's get to Valero, TPC, San Antonio, Keith.
01:14And this is a much different golf course than what they just played in Houston a week ago.
01:21We've got some heavy names here.
01:23Ludvig's playing Fleetwood.
01:24As I mentioned, Corey Connors has won here twice.
01:27Patrick can't lays getting work.
01:29Jordan's won here before.
01:30So we've got some big names, but we've got the golden ticket guys too.
01:34Where are you going this week?
01:36You know what?
01:37Uh, my card's not complete yet, Mike, because it's not a golf Wednesday, but I had to get
01:41in here today and you know, the couple of names I'm going to give you are, are guys
01:46that I instantly had to click on because I like the way that they're playing and I like
01:50the course fit here real quick course fit wise.
01:52This is an approach fest, absolutely.
01:55And you need to be really good with a wedge.
01:57I think 125 yards and in those guys off of this style of turf, I really, really like
02:02the second thing is it's around the green.
02:05There's a lot of challenges.
02:06There's a lot of green in this grass.
02:07There's a lot of short, you know, closely mowed areas for chipping.
02:10The bunkers here are absolutely horrific.
02:13You have to be a good bunker player.
02:14And the third thing is, is that I like the collection of par fours here.
02:18They can be scorable, but if you don't put the ball in the right position, you can have
02:22some trouble here.
02:24And the reason I like the par four scoring is it because you can separate.
02:27So when you start to look at my outrights, the first one at the top of the board, Captain
02:31Keegan Bradley plus 2800, he's sitting there just below the favorites, but he's a guy that
02:36cares every single week.
02:37I think a lot of the favorites are just doing maintenance in order to get some reps in before
02:41next week for Magnolia lane, Bradley, he's sixth in the field and approach overall.
02:46He's 12th in the par four scoring.
02:48This course is just like TPC River Highlands.
02:50I know it doesn't look the same, but that's a wedge fest where you got to put the ball
02:54and play off the tee, right?
02:56He's got two top tens here and San Antonio.
02:59That's Keegan.
03:00And he's got five top twenties this year and seven starts.
03:02Keegan's played absolutely fantastic.
03:05And this is the type of place with his game and his scrambling ability.
03:08I love it.
03:09Next one, Bud Cawley.
03:10I'm going to ride the Bud Cawley train here, right?
03:12Plus 5050 to one.
03:14He's had back to back top tens over there in Florida.
03:18He took a week off.
03:19Now he's back out.
03:20He's fourth in the field in scrambling.
03:22He's 15th in approach, and he's been playing really, really well.
03:25He's a great ball striker.
03:26And all of those top tens came on POA trivialis greens, same grass on the greens here.
03:31And then one fun name for you, Rico Hoey, plus 6000.
03:35There's two reasons he's on my card.
03:36Number one, he can score.
03:38And number two, he is an absolute abs.
03:40He drops dimes with the wedges.
03:42He is.
03:43He's unbelievably good with the wedge game.
03:45He's got good course history there.
03:48Let's get to the placements now, where we'll start with one heavy hitter as Hideki is there
03:53this week.
03:54So Hideki, of the guys at the top of the board, you know he has the highest ceiling.
03:58I mean, maybe Ludwig, but Hideki for sure when it comes to the wedge game and is around
04:03the green acumen.
04:04I love him.
04:05Top 20s.
04:06Akshay, defending champion, a number like plus 140.
04:08This course is very predictable.
04:10Top five on the PGA Tour.
04:11The guys that play well here play well all the time.
04:13Think of them, Jordan, Charlie Hoffman, further down the board.
04:16All these names always pop up over and over again.
04:19And that's because the skill set is so dialed in.
04:21Ryan Gerrard, Ryan Gerrard, great wedge player.
04:24Top 40 players.
04:25Eric Cole, wedge and the putter.
04:27You got to love him.
04:28And he's coming off back to back top 15s.
04:30And then Henrik Norlander, way deep down the board, a top 40, a plus 160.
04:34He's second in the field in approach over the last 36 rounds.
04:39And head to heads.
04:40We're going after Sam Burns and Tom Tim this week.
04:44Sam Burns has become, you know, the 2024 Jordan Speed.
04:48Sam Burns is an approach play.
04:49He's ranked 137th in the field in approach play.
04:52He's missed the last two cuts.
04:53The postman will deliver over him probably after 36 holes.
04:57And the other one, Bud Colley over Tom Kim.
04:59Tom Kim, he can't chip.
05:00He can't putt.
05:01You need those things around here.
05:02I'm taking Bud.
05:03Keith, there's 119 guys who need to win to get to Augusta.
05:09You'll be there next week.
05:11I will talk to you from there.
05:12Keith Stewart, read the line.
05:13Let's have a big week at San Antonio.
