00:00We get you set for each every week on the PGA tour and plenty that is happening in the world of golf as we are
00:06Joined now on the early line on this Tuesday morning by Keith Stewart joining us live from the Sunshine State
00:13Taking it a triple header of action in TGL
00:17yesterday in Tiger Woods in
00:20Front of the simulator tonight as well down there in Florida Keith
00:25Thank you so much for taking the time as always excited to have you here
00:29Not exactly a marquee week on the PGA tour ahead, but it was a big one last week
00:33We'll talk about that in just a matter of moments. But once again, thanks for taking the time
00:38Guys, it's great to be with you on the early line
00:41You know, I just have to say yesterday the triple header for President's Day was absolutely electric the first match
00:47Atlanta over LA two very good teams goes to overtime the second match the Bay Club with Ludwig over
00:54Over Atlanta goes down to the last putt and then the third match of the night the Bay Club over
00:59Boston common with Rory McIlroy goes down to the last putt as well
01:04Couple rule changes there. They're having some fun and boy. It was some really really entertaining sports
01:10Keith it seems as though the exciting nature of the electricity the atmosphere for TGL has
01:16Continued throughout the entirety of its season, but let's go to that PGA tour schedule Genesis Invitational
01:23Of course in the other location at Torrey Pines and he was almost forgotten on Sunday
01:29But certainly not forgotten if you paid attention to the early line with Keith last week live from San Diego
01:36His early leans on the early line told you to keep an eye on
01:40Ludwig Oberg at a 25 to 1 number early in the week and a champion at the Genesis
01:48Invitational Keith what stood out to you most about Oberg's performance on Sunday to go home a champion
01:54Well, I tell you what everyone knows about three weeks ago when he played in the farmers
01:58He was leading after 36 holes, and then he got sick and couldn't finish that one off
02:02I tell you what he he had that on his mind
02:05He was healthy and he took down the best in the world
02:08He was really really impressive number one tee to green and it was an absolute striped show over his last 12 holes
02:15He shot six under par on Sunday
02:17And he took control of the tournament when Scottie was a little too far back when Rory couldn't get the job done
02:23It was mad McNeely. It was Patrick Rodgers. It was Denny McCarthy at the top Ludwig Oberg was fifth in the world at the time
02:29He said hey, you know what boys this is my tournament. He goes three birdies in a row on the back nine
02:34I know CBS didn't cover it, but guess what those
02:37Those shots still happen and it was absolutely fantastic
02:42Seven-foot birdie on the last to take his first signature title in front of Tiger Woods. This kid is he's the it player golf right now
02:50Feels like right now another day closer to the Masters, which we love is almost that right of spring coming up
02:55But we got a couple more golf tournaments in here squeezed in between one this weekend is the Mexico open at the Danto world
03:00Looks like it's about
03:027,500 yards here talk to us about this golf course and also are we at elevation here in Mexico?
03:07Will that help the players and who does it fit here?
03:10Donnie we unfortunately we're not we're down there in the Cabo like Puerto Vallarta area and you know, these guys are right there seaside
03:18You know, it's when it comes right down to it. You guys want Keith's keys number one
03:22You're gonna need some ball speed at this place
03:24You look at the guys that have won Jake Knapp Tony Finau John Rahm all of those leaderboards
03:29They're just covered with with absolute bombers
03:32Those three winners themselves have gained an average of four and a half strokes off the tee on the field
03:38The second thing is you got to have long irons 40% of your approach shots this week are coming in from over 200 yards
03:43You got to have guys that can have some super proximity from far away
03:47And the third thing is you got to watch out for these par threes Donnie
03:50There's five of them on this golf course
03:52So the extra par three thrown in there over the course of four days and 72 holes
03:57Definitely adds up and a bunch of them are long. So it goes back to the 200 yards plus approach factor
04:03Those are three things that I keep an eye on when you're looking at either the top of the board or even a little bit
04:08further down
04:09The final weekend of February into March begins the Florida swing
04:14Next week then we get back to some of the bigger more signature events on the PGA Tour the Arnold Palmer
04:20Invitational the API into the players championship golf's fifth major
04:25But Keith maybe this week not exactly the most robust field of the Mexico open
04:30so as you look at the odds board and who you expect to have a good week in Puerto Vallarta who are a couple of
04:36Names for us to know. I
04:38Tell you what, you know
04:40It's not often that you're gonna have actually Batia carry a tournament as the favorite did finish t9 at the Genesis
04:45So he's somebody to watch out for and we have seen the favorites win here before
04:49Rob did it in the first edition and in the second edition Tony feed out did it?
04:54I'm not quite sure though. Actually Batia has the resume quite of those two
04:58I'm looking a little bit further down the board for my early leans
05:01The first guy I like is Bo Hossler
05:03Bo Hossler is the type of player that plays very well in the desert and that's what this golf course is going to seem
05:08Like almost like you're over in Dubai somewhere, right? It's wide open Donnie already mentioned it. It's super super long
05:14It's 7400 plus yards
05:16You got to be able to bomb it gotta be able to hit some long irons
05:19Bo can do that and he can get up and down at plus 3,500. I like him in that middle tier
05:24I mean some of these guys are at some crazy numbers that normally are in the 60s 70s and 80s and they're down in the
05:2920s and 30s Bo he's definitely guys been out on tour for me cuts this year and he absolutely has had two top
05:3615s one of which was an Amex which is also in the desert the second guy and you guys are gonna love saying this name
05:42Matteo Manassar Oh, all right now plus twelve thousand one hundred and twenty to one this guy's an absolute stud
05:50We remember him as a kid coming out of Italy made it on the DP World Tour early
05:54Well, you know what?
05:55He is qualified for the PGA Tour this year because of his play last year over there in the Rolex standings
06:01Matteo is absolutely a perfect fit for this place
06:04He bombs it and he's a really really solid long iron player much like Francisco
06:09Molinari his countryman was for so many years on the PGA Tour must be something in the past over there
06:14I don't know
06:15But Manassar Oh is definitely somebody hard this week and further down the list
06:20We could make some money this week guys because without all those headliners, there's definitely gonna be some problems and contention
06:26Some big spots and no doubt some value at the Mexico Open Keith tonight at TGL Tiger Woods out there as well
06:35What do you expect to see out of the big cat tonight in TGL? I
06:39Think the Tigers really itching to play some golf
06:41You could kind of sense it in the booth at CBS with Jim Nance over the weekend
06:45There was a lot of talk about golf a lot of talk about being competitive
06:48I think that he was just dying to get back out and do something
06:51So tonight he's jumping back in against New York. Both of these teams really need a win
06:56They're facing elimination of the playoffs for the TGL, which will be over by the end of March
07:00I think a big night from Tiger and an even bigger night from Tom Sim. I mean Oh Tom Kim
07:05What you got to do in front of that simulator Keith we appreciate it enjoy the action tonight at TGL
