00:00While we're on the air, let's talk to Pag-asa Assistant Weather Services Chief, Chris Perez.
00:05Good morning and welcome to Balitang Hali.
00:09Good morning, Connie, and to all of our viewers.
00:12First of all, what is the difference and similarity of the rain that we are experiencing today with the one that happened this morning?
00:19It was also a heavy downpour on July 24 that caused flooding in many places.
00:24Well, Connie, let's start with their similarities.
00:27The July 24 downpour was caused by Hurricane Karina during that time.
00:33Meanwhile, the current downpour that we are experiencing here in our country
00:37was caused by a typhoon that is outside our air responsibility.
00:42So those are their similarities.
00:44The only difference is that the rain that we are expecting brought this current downpour episode
00:53compared to the downpour caused by Karina.
00:55However, we should not relax.
00:57That's why we are continuously monitoring and issuing localized rainfall advisories,
01:03especially in areas that are immediately affected by this downpour, like Metro Manila in Balis and Bataan.
01:09Until when are we expecting the rainy season?
01:14Well, here in Metro Manila, Connie, we expect that possibly until this coming weekend,
01:18we will experience occasional downpours, like in Habagat,
01:22as well as in the provinces in the northern part of Central and Southern Luzon.
01:26That's why we are asking our countrymen to be careful.
01:28There are also outdoor activities, right?
01:31As much as possible.
01:32If there is no way to cancel, make sure to bring an umbrella in case of rain.
01:36So until today, or until tomorrow, or the whole week, it will be raining?
01:42It is possible, Connie, that until this coming Saturday,
01:44there will be occasional downpours here in Metro Manila, like in Habagat.
01:48Okay, what are the provinces that need to be more alert in case of possible downpours?
01:54Well, for now, Connie, we have a high level of Yellow Rainfall Advisory
01:58in Sambales, Bataan, and Metro Manila.
02:00That means that we are monitoring the downpours,
02:03and there is a high chance that we will experience downpours,
02:05especially in low-lying areas.
02:08That's why we are continuously monitoring, issuing rainfall advisories,
02:12and we are also asking our countrymen to continue to monitor
02:16the weather updates, rainfall advisory updates, that will come from Pagasa.
02:20For now, are there any other bad weather that we can monitor
02:24inside and outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility?
02:27Well, aside from the international storm that we are watching, Shanshan,
02:31that is outside our PAR, we can't see any storm that will form in the next two to three days
02:36inside the PAR.
02:37For now, we are hoping that the downpours will continue
02:42and will affect the majority of our country in the next two to three days.
02:46Thank you very much for your update on us, Mr. Chris Perez of Pagasa.
