A man is in custody over a car crash and stabbing attack that left six people injured in Sydney's south. Police allege one of the victims was his partner.

00:00In what's being treated as a domestic violence related incident, a man was travelling along
00:06Prince's Highway with his partner in the passenger seat.
00:10It's been reported that he started stabbing her with a box cutter knife.
00:13The car was driving erratically prior to crashing into another vehicle at the intersection that
00:18you can see behind me.
00:19Bystanders attempted to attend the scene but were faced with a dangerous situation when
00:24the man exited the vehicle with the box cutter knife.
00:28One man attempting to help the woman in the passenger seat was stabbed in the abdomen.
00:32Both the woman and that man are in hospital in a serious but stable condition.
00:36The man in the driver's seat fled the scene on foot, police pursuing him and eventually
00:41tasering him.
00:42He was arrested and a police officer received a laceration to the arm during the arrest.
00:48That man is in police custody in hospital in a serious but stable condition and charges
00:52are yet to be laid.
00:54Premier Chris Mins spoke about the incident a short while ago, commending the bravery
00:59of the citizens who attended the scene and also calling for more resources for domestic
01:03violence responses.
01:04The number of domestic violence complaints a year are massive.
01:08They're tens of thousands a year and growing.
01:11We can't get it down to zero but we can do far better than we currently are performing.
01:16Victoria has got a lower rate of domestic violence per head of population than New South
01:20Wales and that's what we should be aiming for.
01:22Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are calling on anyone with information
01:26to come forward.
01:27They've also commended the bravery of those at the scene.
